When you trust kids, they trust themselves. Since 1980, Steve & Kate’s has put kids in charge of their own learning experience. As they try, fail, and learn on their own, they learn to trust their own judgment, and tackle the challenges of an ever changing world with creativity and confidence.

Campers choose from a variety of activities in real-time including, sewing, stop-motion animation, music, coding, sports & rec, makers crafts, baking, & more. They’ll decide what they want to do, and for how long.

This summer families can buy as many days as they’d like, and use them at any time. No weekly reservations required–just show up! Or, if you need more care, purchase a Summer Pass, which covers the whole season. If for any reason your plans change, they’ll automatically refund any unused Passes in full at summer’s end.

Ages: 4–12 | Lunch, snacks, and all hours (8am–6pm) included.

Now in Bellevue, Everett, Capitol Hill, and Meadowbrook

We focus on the fun, hands-on aspects of STEAM topics like game design, coding, art and animation, music and sound design, robotics, and more. Every workshop we run has been reviewed by college-level faculty from DigiPen and includes a special visit by an industry guest to help students see how a STEAM education applies to the real world.

This summer, we have daily drop-off/pick-up workshops running from June 26 to August 11, located at two convenient Eastside locations: DigiPen’s main campus in Redmond and Cascadia College in Bothell. We also offer an optional Extended Day Program for students staying with us in the afternoon, after the day’s workshops are done.

Wilderness Awareness School runs day camps at 4 King County locations. Additionally we run overnight camps at our campus in Duvall, and expeditions at remote destinations around Washington. We have camps for anyone between the ages of 6-18.

Many of our camps will introduce campers to knives, knots, fire building and techniques, fishing, and primitive cooking. They can even learn how to build their very own bow!

Camp is a human-powered, technology-free adventure. Cultivating healthy relationships with nature, community, and self, ALL of those are found at camp. Whether it’s through wildcrafting, building a fire, learning how to fish, or carving a bow-drill kit, camp helps build the confidence to step forward to meet the world, and yourself.

For 40 years, Wilderness Awareness School summer campers have been discovering the wonders of nature, exploring our natural environment, and building lasting friendships. Campers work together gaining nature awareness and experiential knowledge of plants, animals, tracking, birds, and survival. Our Coyote Mentoring methods inspire curiosity and encourage self-sufficiency, while storytelling and engaging activities make learning fun and nurture a connection to the earth.
