Even celebs can have working mom guilt, just like us regular moms, and actress Hilary Duff is no different. The Younger star recently opened up about working across the country from her six-year-old son, Luca.
Duff, who will soon be a mama to two (she’s currently expecting a baby girl with boyfriend Matthew Koma) told HuffPost that Luca recently asked her why she works so far away and why his other friend’s moms don’t work. Ouch. So, how did Duff respond to that not-so-easy to handle line of questioning?
The actress told HuffPost, “It’s tough. One, I want to be like ‘Hey, you know all that stuff you have? This house that we get to live in? This is why I have a job.’ But that doesn’t mean anything to them.”
Not only did Duff talk about the challenge of being away from her son, but she also got real about why she works and what it means to her—telling her son, “Mom has had a job since I was a teenager and that’s a really big part of my life. I try to be there for you as much as you need, but working is part of being an adult. And when you go to school, you’re going to figure out what your passion is and you’re going to have a job too and you’re going to have a family.”
Now that’s a positive way to look at being a working mom.
