There’s new tech in the world of social media—yes, again. Snapchat has new audio-based filters, and they’re pretty different than what you’ve seen (or heard) before. So if you’re wondering how to use Snapchat’s new voice-activated filters, keep on reading!

This isn’t exactly Snapchat’s first foray into audio-based animation—but it is the first time that the social media giant is offering animated audio lenses that respond to spoken words.

And how do these lenses work? All you need to do is speak a simple word (right now the filter works with words such as hi, love, wow, yes and no). The lens then responds with animation and sounds.

Let’s say you use the word, “wow.” The filter responds with a whole bunch of “wow’s” and tons of animated “Wow” words covering the background. But if you say, “love”, you get some rad jazz and a pretty little flock of flower petals.

Reportedly, Snapchat is making five or six of these audio-aware lenses that they’ll release in early August. To find them, all you need to do is look in the Lens carousel.
