For all those mamas who need some recipe inspiration, some flavorful ideas, or super advice for raising pint-sized foodies, Teeny Tiny Foodie is a must-see blog. This totally bookmark-able site was started by talented mom Jory Lieber as a resource to share recipies, tips and stories about cooking healthy and tasty food for her toddler. Now, it’s your Totally Awesome best family-friendly recipe resource! Here’s what Jory had to say about being named Totally Awesome, how to balance work and parenthood, and more:
Red Tricycle: Congratulations on being voted “Most Awesome” by your community! What do you think your customers value most about your business?
Jory Lieber: Healthy recipes, helpful tips, and honest stories about how I’m creating a foodie baby and family.
RT: What inspired you to start your business?
JL: I wanted to share my experience of creating a ‘teeny tiny foodie’ when I began introducing my daughter to solid foods at age 6 months.
RT: Any advice for new business owners just getting started?
JL: Follow your vision but know that it will be revised as your business changes and grows. Get help from others. Lean on family and friends to help you watch your child so you have time to work on your business. Hire others to help you with tasks you can’t, or don’t know how to do such as website design or business planning.
RT: Can you give us one tip for balancing entrepreneurship with parenthood?
JL: Time management. I’m always trying to get better here since I’m a Stay-at-Home-Mom, too and it is easy for me to get distracted by tasks to do in the home as well. I try to be efficient with my time so I can take full advantage of my daughter’s nap time which is when I get most of my work done. Caffeine helps, too.
RT: What is your proudest moment as a business owner or parent?
JL: As a parent, I feel very proud when my daughter Eliana goes over to her cooking toys and says, “Mommy? You want some food?”
RT: Is there a special offer you’d like to include for Red Tricycle readers?
JL: I’m offering a discounted rate for a private cooking class to readers in the NY area or a discounted rate for cooking/menu consultation for all Red Tricycle readers.
