Even celebs have a birthday party fail now and then. Case in point: Jimmy Kimmel recently shared his now-four-year-old daughter Jane’s not-so-perfect piñata experience. Kimmel’s opening monologue during Tuesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! hilariously told the story of the party, the piñata and a little girl’s heartbreak.

Like just about every other four-year-old, Kimmel’s daughter is a PAW Patrol fan. So for her b-day party, Kimmel and wife Molly McNearney got their little girl a PAW Patrol-themed piñata. Sounds pretty perfect. Right? Um, maybe not so much.

Kimmel went on to say, “It was a terrible piñata, it wasn’t even shaped like anything, just a rectangle with four dogs on it, one of which was Chase—that’s her favorite dog.” Even though piñata left something to be desired, the Kimmel noted that the kiddos went completely nuts over it. That is, after the candy came pouring out.

Even though it was all in good fun, the birthday girl wasn’t exactly thrilled with the party game. Kimmel explained, “Jane looks at it, and says to no one in particular, ‘I can’t believe we beat up Chase.’ And then she goes—and I don’t know where she got this—but she goes, ‘Look at these guys, they never saw it coming’.”

Sooooo sad. But yet, so sweetly adorable!
