The launch of Disney+ has seen the return of many beloved Disney Channel series, as well as some exciting reboots. Now fans can look forward to another with the return of The Proud Family.

The popular animated series The Proud Family, which aired on the Disney Channel from 2001-2005, is making a comeback according to the show’s star Jo Marie Payton, who played Suga Mama Proud in the original. While a reboot has been rumored for a while, Payton confirmed the news in a recent interview on Strahan, Sara & Keke.

When Keke Palmer questions Payton whether she’s anything like her Proud Family character she responds, “Yeah, Suga Mama’s large and in charge, that’s all I got to say. Except for, Suga Mama will be doing some new episodes come February.”

Payton then explained that new episodes of the series will air on Disney’s recently launched streaming service, Disney+.
