Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have more than a few things in common: American Idol, musical superstardom and motherhood. When Underwood recently broke her silence to talk about miscarriages, Clarkson was there to applaud her efforts and lend her fellow musician mom some support.
Underwood, who in August announced she’s pregnant with her third child, has been very open about her struggle with pregnancy loss. The singer-celeb revealed that she had had three miscarriages in between having her now-3-year-old son Isaiah and this most recent pregnancy.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Lauren Zima at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival, music mama Clarkson talked about the respect she has for fellow American Idol alum Underwood, saying, “Carrie’s killing it, and she’s pregnant! What?!” Clarkson also talked about Underwood’s baby struggles, “I didn’t know a lot of the situations that were happening behind the scenes.”
Clarkson also added, “I have a lot of friends who have gone through that several times as well.” The singer didn’t stop there. Clarkson talked to ET’s Zima about the cultural importance of Underwood’s public announcement for all moms and moms-to-be:
“I know you don’t have to, because it’s a hard thing to do, but it makes women who feel inferior, or feel like something’s wrong with them, it makes them feel comfortable, and [know] that people go through it.”
One Idol supporting another. Or maybe it’s more like one mama supporting another. Either way, we applaud both of these courageous celebs.
