Superheroes and princesses? Very been there, done that. Get creative this year with some playful costume ideas that Angelenos can truly appreciate.

Bob's Big Boy

Perfect for any little "big boy" in LA. After all, the burger chain is one of the city's most iconic restaurants. If you're crafty, here's the DIY tutorial for the costume. If not, why not add red straps to these checked PJ bottoms and call it a day?

See's Candies Worker

Another LA institution, See's Candies has been around since 1921 when the first shop opened on Western Ave. Today, workers still wear a traditional black and white uniform reminiscent of the old days, and photographer Gina Lee perfectly recreates the look on her little one. Fun fact: The I Love Lucy with Lucy with gobbling chocolates off a conveyor belt? That was at See's Candies' factory.

The Broad's Balloon Dog

Bring a little pop culture to your costume (and impress the neighbors) with a reference to the Jeff Koons exhibit at The Broad, featuring the artist's balloon dog sculpture.

Or this version...

Here's another take on Koons' balloon dog, which you can make with spandex fabric and this tutorial courtesy of Studio DIY.

The Broad's Pop Art

You'll find Roy Lichtenstein's instantly recognizable comic-strip-inspired art on display at The Broad (can you tell it's one of our favorite museums?). If you can get your little one to sit still long enough, you can recreate this look with a little makeup and a steady hand.

VSCO Girl

Forget the Valley Girl look. This year, VSCO girls are taking over. (It's a very Gen Z thing and we're not sure we event get it—in fact, we definitely don't "get it.") Requirements to complete the look: a Hydro Flask, oversized surf T-shirt, scrunchies, Puka shell necklace and Pura Vida bracelets.

Avocado Toast

While LA can't claim to have invented artisanal toast (that honor goes to San Fran), local restaurants have certainly embraced the trend, particularly with avocado and an optional egg on top. Looking for the next big thing in toast? Swap the avocado and egg for a prawn costume and ta-dah: shrimp toast.

In-n-Out Fries

This ensemble is a nod to one of LA's most beloved burger joints, courtesy of the Cali mom Chelsea Foy's Lovely Indeed Instagram account. If your kiddo has a younger sibling, they can always go as the ketchup. Or get your whole brood in on the action with this complete tutorial. (#familyhalloweencostumes, anyone?)

Sushi Chef

Because Angelenos have been sushi lovers for decades, long before the rest of the country caught on. (Hint: Check out LA mom Laura Izumikawa's Instagram for even more costumed-baby inspiration.)

A Star Is Born

Here's an easy, last-minute (and "punny") costume idea for infants, borrowed from last year's Oscar-nominated flick. Optional: You and your partner going as Ally and Jackson Maine (aka Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper).
