It was a big year for little people. Cool play spaces opened, new music studios flourished and trendy shops for kids clothes moved into town. Here are our picks for the 20 best things to happen to Los Angeles in 2014 that made it an even better city for raising kids. (Like that’s possible!)

Salt & Straw

Portland’s holy grail of artisan ice cream has landed in LA on Larchmont Boulevard. Our lucky kids are the first outside Stumptown to sample Salt & Straw’s fantastical flavors like Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons or Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. If ice cream were vacation, this would be the journey of lifetime.
