Otis College of Art and Design will host the 7th Annual Otis Kite Festival, directly north of the Santa Monica Pier. This festival has blossomed into a wonderful family event focused on serving children throughout Los Angeles and Santa Monica. Every child who attends receives his or her own DIY kite kit inclusive of a color theory art lesson. Creating the kites also ties into STEAM education in addition to being a community art experience for the children. The event serves as an enriching and fun day for both the young and the young at heart!
Each year, Otis also invites local and global kite artists who showcase their work by creating a “gallery” in the sky above Santa Monica. This year, we will honor Tom Van Sant, deemed “Father of Modern Kite Making”, who was the inspiration behind Otis Colleges Kite festival.
Access to the festival is available on Metro Expo Line and Big Blue Bus and parking is available at the Santa Monica Pier Parking Lot for a fee of $12-$15.
