LA's newest fast-casual pizzeria has a warm and welcoming vibe, and serves up pizza, loaded fries and spicy wings, along with beer, wine and cocktails. Reviewers are raving about the perfectly chewy-yet-crispy Neapolitan-style pies, and variety of toppings. (Though you can never go wrong with Brooklyn Ave.'s O.G. pizza, featuring pepperoni, fresh oregano and mozzarella.) Fun fact: Cesar Chavez Ave. was formerly Brooklyn Ave., hence the name.

La Morra Pizzeria
Get 'em while they're hot—or frozen—at this La Morra's recently opened take-out window. The popular, take-home frozen pies have been known to sell out, but you can pre-order for pickup to secure your slice of the pie (literally). Favorites include the classic Marghertia (with real buffalo mozzarella), Cavolo Rosso (a vegan option), and the super-satisfying Patate (with Yukon Gold potatoes, rosemary, raclette cheese, panna, black pepper and parmigiano).

Haven't tried Detroit-style pizza yet? You'll want to stalk Quarter Sheets on Instagram for a chance to sample the pan-baked, Sicilian-inspired thick-and-airy crust that's all the rage. Sure, Quarter Sheets claims it's "Glendale's #1 least authentic Detroit style pizza," but you can blame the seasonal, creative toppings for the lack of Motor City authenticity, not the crispy-edged perfection of the crust. An ever-changing weekly menu always includes the classics (plain cheese and pepperoni), plus one original pie, featuring ingredients like whipped feta, hen of the woods mushrooms and poblanos. As yummy as the pizzas are, make sure to save room for Quarter Sheets salty chocolate chunk cookies and other desserts.

After a stint as a pop-up, then a food truck, Bootleg Pizza now has a brick-and-mortar location. Somewhere in between Detroit style pizza and traditional pizza, the sourdough crust is baked in a square-shaped pan and manages to be both thick and crispy. For something adventurous, try the Hot Jimmy, with mozzarella, ricotta, hot sausage, roasted whole garlic, black pepper, parm and hot honey.

If you prefer a slice of pie you can fold rather than the trendy, thicker-crusted versions, Little Coyote is your jam. Their New York-style pizza is hand-stretched, with a thin, foldable crust. The owners of the new Long Beach spot say it's "inspired by the old school New York pizzerias we loved so much as kids." In addition to pizza, you can also find Italian and meatball subs, plus a robust beer and wine list for pairing with your pie.

Featuring Naples style pizzas coming out of wood-burning ovens, this beacon of bubbly crust and billowy cheese has become a Westside institution—and has since opened an outpost in West Hollywood. The restaurant’s naturally fermented dough and wood-fired oven work in tandem to create a crust that is both gloriously chewy and perfectly charred.
