Every Christmas season for more than 90 years, the majestic deodars (that’s fancy evergreen trees, to us!) on the “Mile of Christmas Trees” are strung with 10,000 lights.
The association that runs the lighting claims it “is the oldest large-scale Christmas lighting spectacle in the United States”. It’s also our own local piece of history: Christmas Tree Lane is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and has been designated as California Historical Landmark No. 990! So drive or stroll along the street and drink in the sights – just don’t forget the winter coats and thermos of hot chocolate – it gets cold! The lights go on at 6 p.m. on December 12, and turn on lightly till the end of the year.
