Wee Jammin’ with Little Play Society
The beloved kids gym now offers socially distanced, outdoor classes. Little Play’s Wee Jammin’ 2 (for ages 2-5) launched on Sept. 2 at Little Play Park (aka Los Angeles High Memorial Park). The classes are held every Wed. and Sat. at 9:45 a.m., right after the original Wee Jammin’ class (for kids under 2), which now starts at 9 a.m. There will be sanitized instruments and props for kids to jam with. The Great LA River Cleanup Returns
Each year, FoLAR organizes the Great LA River CleanUp, one of the most significant environmental stewardship events in the region and officially the largest urban river cleanup in the country. Every year, the CleanUp brings thousands of Angelenos down to the River to work together to remove several tons of trash – trash that would otherwise pollute the River and harm wildlife before dumping into the Pacific Ocean. This year, volunteers will be able to join us at small, in-person cleanups or conduct a self-guided effort in their communities. Earth Day with Wildflowers
To celebrate Earth Day and the beauty of California native blooms, California Garden Horticulturist Layla Valenzuela will create a display featuring both real wildflowers and hand-crafted paper flowers. This special installation will be on view in El Portal in the California Garden. Included in membership or the cost of admission. Members can enter without an advance ticket, but visitors who are not members and guests not covered under a membership will need advance tickets with timed entry. Using GPS and QR code technology, players will navigate their way to designated marker points hidden in Orange County. The activity runs for seven days, from Apr. 19 through Apr. 25, 2021, and can be played at any time throughout this period. Fun for ages young and old, with family or alone, the Outdoor Adventure Hunt encourages players to step outside and explore local surroundings such as parks, libraries, trails, and historical landmarks.
