Sheep Shearing at the Zoo
Each year, the flock of Shetland sheep at the L.A. Zoo must have their wool sheared to prevent overheating. See these animals receive their annual haircut from Trevor Hollenback from Hollenback Shearing at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. Young visitors can learn how to care for and groom goats and sheep at educational activity stations. The Southern California Handweavers Guild will also be present to demonstrate weaving methods for different types of fabrics and fibers, including wool from the sheep at the Zoo. Sat. Event details.

Barnsdall Arts Center’s Arts and Crafts Fair
Free and open to all, this fair showcases diverse work from local emerging talent, Arts Center students and faculty in a range of mediums from handcrafted jewelry and ceramics to handmade cards, prints, paintings and photography. Visitors can browse works from local artisans, catering to a range of tastes and budgets, and find the perfect Mother’s Day gift, next statement piece, or the ideal coffee mug! The fair will feature a fundraising raffle for many great prizes including works from their talented artisans and a few surprising grand prizes. Attendees can purchase raffle tickets at the fair for $20 for 5-pack, or in advance at Eventbrite.
