Little by little, our favorite LA museums, zoos, aquariums and more are safely reopening their outdoor spaces and offering advanced, timed tickets. Read on for the latest on what’s open this weekend in Los Angeles, including the Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum and Cayton Children’s Museum’s new Outdoor Community Program. Visit the Butterfly Pavilion
LA’s Natural History Museum is reopening with timed advanced tickets to its outdoor Butterfly Pavilion. The exhibition features hundreds of butterflies, along with colorful native plants to enjoy along the way. Fri.-Sun. More details.

Join Cayton Creators
Cayton Children’s Museum is bringing the museum outdoors with a “mobile museum” experience that offers communities access to the creative arts and values-based learning. Activities are designed around social distancing and will be focused on bringing the organization’s social impact vision to life through visual art, performance art, communal art-making and play for kids up to age 10. Sat. Visit the LA Zoo
The Los Angeles Zoo is now open with advanced reservations and timed entries. (Masks are also required.) If you can’t snag a ticket for this weekend, check out the Zoo’s Camplette packs, filled with fun and educational activities for little ones. Fri.-Sun. More details.

Take a (Redwood) Hike
Up for a drive? Head to the sprawling Carbon Canyon Regional Park (in Brea, CA) for an easy 1.1-mile hike to the park’s 3-acre coastal redwood grove. You will use your five senses to engage with nature as you stroll to the redwoods. Fri.-Sun. More details.

Tour a Battleship
Battleship USS Iowa is open for private, self-guided tours. During your fresh-air visit, kids can follow in the footsteps of sailors aboard the historic Navy ship-turned-outdoor museum. Admission also includes a scavenger hunt with the ship’s mascot, Vicky the dog. Fri.-Sun. More details. 

Jam at the Park
While Little Play Society was unfortunately forced to close its indoor brick-and-mortar space, the beloved kids gym now offers socially distanced, outdoor classes. Little Play’s Wee Jammin’ 2 (for ages 2-5) launched on Sept. 2 at Little Play Park (aka Los Angeles High Memorial Park). The classes are held every Wed. and Sat. at 9:45am, right after the original Wee Jammin’ class (for kids under 2), which now starts at 9a.m. Sat. More details.

Do Yoga Outdoors
Kids yoga outpost Zooga Yoga is offering daily outdoor yoga, dance, soccer and music classes for all ages. Classes are limited in size, masks are required for kids ages 3 and up, and everyone can practice their social distancing skills outdoors. Fri.-Sun. More details.

Get Your Fair Food Fix
The OC County Fair may be cancelled this year, but you can still enjoy some classic carnival grub. Get ready for the Fair Food Drive-Thru, featuring all your favorites, including funnel cakes, hotdogs on a stick and Hawaiian chicken bowls. More details.
