Once every 4 years it’s time to curl up on the couch and watch some serious athletes compete in the winter games.  Whether you prefer the speed (and slight ludicrousness) of the luge, the grace of the figure skaters or the fearlessness of the snowboarders, it’s all spectacular for family viewing.  But you and your Bode Miller, Shaun White or Gracie Gold wanna-bes can also get out and get a little Olympic action (and history) of your own, even in sunny SoCal…

As always, the Olympics will be on NBC. Check your local listings for coverage. The Opening Ceremony is on February 7, and there will be something happening each and every day through February 23.

One last fun fact: Los Angeles has hosted the Olympics twice and both times it was by default, as no other city bid to host either the 1932 or 1984 games.
