Hanukkah Family Festival
The Skirball Cultural Center commemorates Hanukkah with a fun-filled day of entertainment for families of all backgrounds. Children watch a captivating puppet show about the story of Hanukkah and listen to award-winning author, Erica Silverman, as she reads her new book, Hanukkah Hop. Other highlights include Hanukkah at Home at 1:00 pm (a blend of traditional songs with storytelling) and Family Dance Jam at 12:45 and 2:30 pm. The UCLA Film & Television Archive and the Hammer Museum team up for a matinee screening of the ever-charming holiday movie, Meet Me In St. Louis (1945), for their Family Flicks Film Series. Judy Garland stars in this musical slice of Americana circa 1903, including her enchanting and unforgettable performance of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Seating is on a first come, first served basis, and parking is available under the museum for $3 for 3 hours. Cookies For Kids Cancer Event
Here’s a way to indulge in delicious treats, while teaching your kiddos how to treat others. This 62-foot float bedecked with Christmas scenes, thousands of sparkling lights, 200 singers, and a dance company, jingles all the way down San Fernando Boulevard (between Olive and Magnolia) on Friday night for a joyful dollop of holiday spectacle. 12 Days by the Seashore
On the 12th day by the sea shore the ocean brought to me…a giant green sea anemone!
