Ahhh, l’amour. This weekend is filled with love and music, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The True PabLOVE Family Celebration is a wonderful way to both support a fantastic charity (pediatric cancer research) and to have a fun family afternoon. If you’re looking for some classic family Valentine’s fun, head over to the El Capitan for a screening of the classic Lady and the Tramp (then home for a family spaghetti dinner!) Perhaps you prefer your valentine’s romance without the kids? Golden State Gymnastics has a fun night out for you when you drop the kids off to play. If your little ones prefer action to romance, Jason and the Argonauts is screening for free at the Hammer. If you’re in the mood for music, this is Grammy Weekend! The award show airs on Sunday night, but you can take the kids for a trip downtown on Saturday to check out the exhibits at the Grammy Museum. Get out and enjoy the February sunshine with a fantastic run for all ages in Chinatown, or a stroll through the Madrona Marshes for kids. Or take in a show – The Borrowers is on stage at South Coast Repertory starting this weekend…

Worth the Drive

The Borrowers
This beloved book is having a bit of a renaissance; a new Disney version will be in theaters starting next week. So now is a perfect time to read this book aloud to the family, and see this enchanting new stage production. Arrietty lives a quiet life with her parents in a warm and cozy home. But, like any fourteen-year-old girl, she longs for the big wide world. And that world is really enormous for Arrietty because she’s only four inches tall, and home is beneath the floorboards with scary “human beans” living just above. Take your little “beans” to the theater this weekend!  Fri. – Sun., Various times. Costa Mesa. $24-$32. Ages 4+. Event details.
