There’s no excuse for sitting around the house this weekend when activities ranging from hikes to juggling abound. Harry Potter fans won’t want to miss the Wizard School Scavenger Hunt at the Getty Center; cookie monsters will go ga-ga at the Girl Scout Cookie Rally and Bake-off going down in Thousand Oaks, and your junior excavators will get dig getting dirty at Venice Beach’s Nothin’ but Sand Beach Clean-up. Introduce the kids to a piece of history at the California African American Museum. Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr., Sunday’s offerings include singer Freda Payne and actor Jeffrey Anderson Gunter on the main stage as well as more scheduled activities. Family Histories at the Autry Museum
Uncover your family ties in this fun outing at the Autry Museum. The Wizard School Scavenger Hunt at the Getty Center
Your mini Harry Potter will dig this magical mystery trip at the Getty Center. Wizardly kiddos head out with an adult on a field trip in search of art that reminds them of characters, places and objects from the Harry Potter books and movies. Search out owls, dragons, giants, centaurs, unicorns and more. It’s a great way to pique a child’s interest in art! Kids must be accompanied by adult.
