LA kids are lucky to have year-round sunshine, making every day a perfect park day. But sometimes too much of a good thing means you’ll leave the park with a mini-lobster if you’re not hyper vigilant with the sunscreen. Read on to discover 9 awesome shady playgrounds from the Valley to the Beach that make playtime on a hot, sunny day, super cool—literally.

Lincoln Park

Though small in size, this little playground has plenty of shade to keep your little adventurers cool while they play. The massive canopies cover, not only the play structures, but also the surrounding sand pit, swings, and the walking path that encircles the gated playspace, where toddlers can ride the small trikes and ride-on toys that are part of the park. After playtime, stop in the Buena Vista Library right next door for some AC and books.
