With the yuletide carol for inspiration, we’ve cooked up our own “Twelve Days of Christmas” Red Tricycle style.* Each day is filled with a unique activity to keep little elves occupado (and you somewhat sane) through the holidays and beyond. In fact, most of these jolly ideas can be pulled out of your Santa hat any old time of year. So warm up those vocal chords, channel your inner Adele and sing along. And a one and a two and…

On the Fifth Day of Christmas

Red Tricycle gave to me: Five Cronut rings...
If you haven't succumbed to the Cronut craze of 2013 yet, we assume you've obviously been trapped under something heavy for the last 11 months. But no worries, you still have time to take part before year's end. Originating at Domenique Ansel's famous bakery in New York, the Cronut (a delish croissant/donut hybrid), has caused hungry foodies to wait in line for hours for a bite of flaky goodness. One of the very best knockoffs we've found in LA is the "O-Nut" at DK's Donuts and Bakery in Santa Monica. Double decker deliciousness in more than 25 flavors that you can actually find in store all day long instead of the usual mad morning sell-out like other shops. Imagine that! From their Famous Glazed to Marble Eclair and Cookie Monster Crunch, there's sure to be a flavor your kids will go O-Nuts over. For location and menu, visit dksdonuts.com.

*Okay, okay, we know the “Twelve Days of Christmas” don’t officially kick off till Christmas Day, but we’ve never been very good at playing by the rules. Plus, with your kiddos’ winter breaks fast approaching, we know you have tons of tot-tainment time to fill between now and then. Happy Holidays!

How will you keep your kiddos entertained around LA during the holidays? Share any fun ideas you might have in the comments below.
