Avoiding meat can be challenging when you’re looking for a fast meal on the go. While many chains now offer salad options, there is yet to be a vegetarian or vegan-friendly sandwich option on the menu in drive-thrus, until now. McDonald’s may soon offer a game changer with a vegan burger.
According to Food & Wine, McDonald’s is currently testing out it’s latest sandwich at locations in Finland. The sandwich, called a McVegan, is made with a soy patty and comes topped with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles and no cheese, of course. It is served along with fries that are already vegan (meaning no meat product in the cooking oil) at all Finish McDonald’s locations.
The trial will run until November, but don’t worry if you can’t make it to Finland in the next few weeks. After the test, McDonald’s will asses the possibility of launching the sandwich elsewhere. With the rise of popularity in meatless alternatives among Americans, this could definitely be the healthy change McDonald’s has been needing to boost business.
