Meghan Markle is one special working mama. Not only does she have her royal duties to attend to, but the Duchess of Sussex recently revealed she had the opportunity to guest edit the September issue of British Vogue.

Markle gave us all a glimpse into her life, and the project, via her editor’s letter. The new mom started in the beginning, writing about her first meeting with Vogue editor Edward Enninful, “What evolved over the next hour was a promising pow wow of two like-minded thinkers, who have much in common, including our love of writing. Over a steaming cup of mint tea, we teased through how one can shine light in a world filled with seemingly daily darkness. Lofty? Of course. Worth it? Without question.”

While Enninful may have had Markle in mind for September’s cover story, the then-mama-to-be had a larger, much more far-reaching goal—guest editor. Markle spent much of her pregnancy working on her guest editing gig, but you won’t see a magazine filled with maternity-wear. Markle wrote, “I was about five months pregnant when this process began, and by the time you hold this issue in your hands, my husband and I will be holding our three-month-old baby boy in ours.”

The coveted September edition features fearless females who inspire. In her letter Markle writes of the famous faces included in the edition, “There are inspiring reads from Brené Brown and Jameela Jamil. You’ll also find a very special piece with Dr. Jane Goodall, interviewed by my husband, and a candid and heartfelt conversation between myself and the extraordinary, Michelle Obama.”
