Have you been keeping up with Disney+  Marvel Studios’ WandaVision? If you can’t seem to get enough Walt Disney Records just released WandaVision: Episode 1 Original Soundtrack and WandaVision: Episode 2 Original Soundtrack. This is (almost) enough to tide us over while we anxiously await new episodes each Friday.

WandaVision Soundtrack

The digital soundtracks feature score by composer Christophe Beck (Frozen 2, Ant-Man and the Wasp) and the original theme songs are by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (Frozen). The Oscar-winning songwriters penned unique songs for several episodes in the series, spanning from the 1950s to the early 2000s.

Beck composed and produced all score tracks on each WandaVision album. He said “For each era, the music is a loving homage to the sitcom scores typical of the time period. This involved not only the instrumentation, but also the composition style.”

Anderson-Lopez and Lopez not only wrote the theme and songs but they also produced each song. When speaking of the theme for the first episode Anderson-Lopez said, “We wanted to have an optimistic group of voices singing jazzily (though not too jazzily!) about the love between these two — and the main question of the first episode, whether two Avengers in love can pass for normal in a typical American suburb.”

For the second episode Lopez said, “We decided to put lots of raunchy trombones commenting and in one part we also used my favorite ’60s keyboard sound, the RMI Rock-si-chord—a sort of electric organ harpsichord sound.”

The WandaVision Original Soundtrack album producers are Kevin Feige, Matt Shakman and Dave Jordan. The albums for Episodes 1 and 2 will be followed by WandaVision: Episode 3 Original Soundtrack available on Jan. 29, with subsequent albums to follow one week after each episode of the series airs.

WandaVision Original Soundtrack release dates follow:

  • Episode 1 soundtrack release date: 1/22
  • Episode 2 soundtrack release date: 1/22
  • Episode 3 soundtrack release date: 1/29
  • Episode 4 soundtrack release date: 2/5
  • Episode 5 soundtrack release date: 2/12
  • Episode 6 soundtrack release date: 2/19
  • Episode 7 soundtrack release date: 2/26

Working parents have a lot on their minds between balancing work and family life. They often face the difficult choice between wanting to take on more at work and the disappointment at home when their job takes priority over family events. According to a new study by Bright Horizons, since they are fearful of career-impacting repercussions, they believe they still can’t be transparent about family responsibilities.

office

The report reveals that over half of working parents admit that they have needed to sneak out of work to take care of family commitments because they couldn’t be honest with their colleagues.

“We think as a society we are progressing in the workplace, but the data from the Modern Family Index tells a different story. It is clear that more progress is needed. Employers need to support working parents and create work environments in which all employees feel comfortable being honest and transparent about their family obligations,” says Bright Horizons Chief Human Resources Officer, Maribeth Bearfield. “There are some easy strategies employers can adopt to help alleviate stress, mental load, and burnout and improve workplace culture. Especially in a tight talent market, employers need to be doing as much as they can to attract and retain working parents.”

The study shows that employee burnout is at an all-time high. Employers may pay the price without a supportive work atmosphere that enables everyone to be successful in the workforce. According to the survey, employees will walk out the door if things don’t improve or they will risk facing burnout.

Bearfield said, “The collective impact of being stretched thin at work while facing continued disappointment at home is forcing parents to leave their jobs in search of workplaces that are more in tune with modern priorities. It is time for all employers to focus attention on the needs of their workforce or risk being left behind in the war for talent.”

Get ready for a new adventure—superhero style! Disneyland recently released new details about the projected 2020 Marvel-themed area expansion. And we’ve got the need-to-know info for you.

The new superhero themed space will take over what once was “A Bug’s Land.” Disneyland fans may already know that some of the attractions closed mid-March, with the rest expected to shutter by late summer. The closures will make room for an array of attraction awesomeness, centered around the existing Guardians of the Galaxy-Mission: BREAKOUT!

Along with new experiences at California’s Disneyland Resort, the park’s partnership with Marvel Studios and Marvel Themed Entertainment will extend internationally, with planned ‘lands’ coming to Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland too.

Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris will feature what Disney describes as a, “hyper-kinetic adventure.” Visitors will get to team up with Iron Man and their fave Avengers on this wild ride. International travelers who plan on visiting Hong Kong Disneyland will also get plenty of new action. The park is planning an Ant-Man and The Wasp adventure to go along with the 2017 Iron Man Experience.

While Disney projects the new superhero-themed area will open at the California resort in 2020, as of now there’s no specific debut date.

Every week, Xyza: News for Kids publishes a dinner table conversation topic. Why? We want to inspire real conversations about the world of news today with your kids. Because the world of news is fascinating, exciting and frankly, way too interesting!

This week we ask the question, “Who’s faster? A cheetah or an ant?” Why? Read our dinner table conversation topic below!

Did you know that the animal with the fastest moving body part comes from the Mystrium camillae species, otherwise known as the Dracula ant found in southeast Asia and Australia. Its jaws (or mandibles, if we’re being technical) can click at 201 miles per hour. That’s about 5,000 times faster than the blink of an eye. Ouch! Sounds like a pretty painful experience for the prey caught between those jaws!

So what’s the point of this discovery? Well, the ant’s jaw movement is unique because instead of keeping its jaw open wide and then snapping it shut, the Dracula ant starts with a closed jaw and then builds pressure, which causes the super-quick motion … much like the pressure that lets you snap your fingers.

The next step for researchers? To see how the ant uses these speedy powers in nature. Perhaps humans could use the ant’s jaw movements as inspiration to improve the way we use or build things in the future!

Now that we know which animal moves its body the fastest, inquiring minds want to know… who’s faster in the comic book world: Superman or The Flash?
