Summer is about to end with a blast: Lightyear is headed to Disney+ in August! The film, which opened in theaters on Jun. 17, is basically the origin story for the beloved toy featured in the Toy Story movies.

Lightyear is a sci-fi action adventure following our main character (voiced by Chris Evans) as he becomes stuck on a planet 4.2 million light-years from Earth. With his commander and crew, Buzz finds a group of recruits and the world’s cutes robot cat, Sox to help him find his way home. And let’s not forget Zurg, the evil villain up to no good and his army of robots!

Other notable voices you’ll hear include Uzo Aduba as best friend Alisha Hawthorne, Peter Sohn as Sox, Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi and Dale Soules as the Junior Zap Patrol’s Izzy Hawthorne, Mo Morrison and Darby Steel and James Brolin as Zurg.

While Lightyear wasn’t a huge box-office hit, the film is poised to capture a wider audience once it hits Disney+. The quick move from theaters has made ample success for other films, like Encanto and Marvel’s film, Eternals. “[B]y now we know that theatrical performance doesn’t solely determine a film’s success or failure,” says Indie Wire.

Lightyear looks amazing on the big screen, of course, but we are so excited to bring it to Disney+,” said Angus MacLane, director. “We devoted years of our lives to this film and we are so proud of it. We want to share it with as many people as possible. Disney+ not only gives more fans an opportunity to see ‘Lightyear,’ it gives us all the means to see it again and again.”

Disney and Pixar’s Lightyear will hit Disney+ on Aug. 3, 2022.

Take a chill pill, ’90s kids! We’ve gathered your favorite foods of yesteryear into one nostalgic roundup of ’90s candy and snacks. Some are discontinued, and some are downright dated (hello, Bubble Beeper!), but they’re all guaranteed to inspire a few choice cravings.

Snapple Elements

Snapple Elements sounded a bit like a roll call for Captain Planet, but who didn't want to sip on flavors like Earth, Fire, Sun and Rain?

Butterfinger BBs

Sure, these were just a smaller version of Butterfingers, but there was an irresistible Simpsons tie-in. And if Butterfinger BBs were good enough for the Bartman, they were good enough for us '90s kids.

https://twitter.com/punishedhavoc/status/1423331652139376647

Cherry Coke

The '90s elixir known as Cherry Coke was the cherry-flavored soda of choice. It had the taste of a classic fountain drink and the rad packaging that was quintessential 1990s.

Fruit by the Foot

Wikimedia Commons

Sure, Fruit by the Foot is still around today—but the '90s version was extra psychedelic and almost 50% sugar, which may account for about a decade of sugar highs.

Dunk-a-roos

Wikimedia Commons

Dunk-a-roos were basically the currency of the '90s playground. Bite-sized cookies that you could dunk into super sweet frosting? It was a kid's dream-come-true.

Fruit Gushers

Wikimedia Commons

We're not sure where the "fruit" factors into these jelly candies that explode neon goo, but we know that Fruit Gushers were responsible for many a blue tongue in the 1990s.

Bubble Beeper

AtomicJesus via Etsy

Modeled after the classic '90s pager, Bubble Beeper was just the gum to make you feel like a working professional.

Gogurt

The answer to all your yogurt mobility problems of the 1990s! Since this snack can still be found in lunchboxes today, it's clear Gogurt was the yogurt of the future.

Fruit String Things

They may not have been fruit-like, but they were certainly string things and us '90s kids ate them up—literally.

Ring Pops

Ring Pops were the most popular bling of the '90s and the very best reason to eat your jewelry. Why would you want a boring ol' lollipop when you could have a Ring Pop?

Totino's Pizza Rolls

From stuffed crust to pizza rolls, the 1990s were kind of a big deal for pizza. And nothing topped Totino's, or the feeling of victory when you found them in the freezer after school.

Trix Yogurt

What '90s kid could resist the rainbow-in-a-cup that was Trix Yogurt? Per Trix rules, it was "just for kids," so if the exclusivity didn't get ya, the flashy commercials sure would.

Cheetos Paws

It's a tried-and-true fact that the way to a kid's stomach is with brightly colored, weirdly-shaped snacks. That's why it should be no surprise that Cheetos Paws were such a hit.

PB Max

Ah, PB Max, we hardly knew ye! This peanut butter-and-chocolate candy bar (with a cookie thrown in!) wasn't around for long, but it'll always have a place in '90s kids hearts.

Kid Cuisines

If you think about it, Kid Cuisines were just preparing us for the frozen dinners we sneaked into our grocery carts as adults.

Kudos

Real talk: Kudos were supposedly a healthier alternative to candy bars. All we remember is that they were chock-full of chocolate and topped with candy.

What a wicked summer it’s been for weather, Chicago! It’s been quite the roller coaster, but no complaints, we’ve been outside and taking advantage of our city being open. We have just a couple more months to enjoy boating season, so make a plan to get on the water. While there are several tour companies that narrate a memorable trip along our waterways and teach a bit of Chicago architectural history, sometimes you want to steer the course yourself. Read on to learn how Chicago Electric Boat hands over the captain’s hat and allows you to do just that.

About Chicago Electric Boats

Operating since 2012, Chicago Electric Boat Company is Chicago's largest self-guided river boat rental operator. They operate with safety as a core focus, as owner Ron Silvia is a member of the Chicago Harbor Safety Committee and President of Downtown Docks and is a driver in the city's exciting waterfront developments.

Boat Options Available

Their fleet includes eco-friendly private electric boats that create one-of-a-kind opportunities to explore our world-famous waterfront, history-making iconic skyscrapers and moveable bridges from a unique eye-level vantage point.

Renters will find five boat types: all-weather Duffy Boats with fully covered seating areas, Pontoon Boats with adjustable canopies, partially covered Donut Boats that offer 360-degree views of the city, a Vintage Yacht and refurbished 1950s-style Retro Boats for when you want to feel like a movie star.

Each dock has different options available, so which boat type you want to rent will determine the pick-up and drop-off location.

New This Year: Cycleboats

Enjoy a mashup of a boat ride and a bike cruise on a Chicago Cycleboat. Hop on a bike seat set around a table and cycle at your own pace with your friends. The whole boat works together to power the boat as a captain navigates the boat down Chicago River. No worries though, there is a back up electric motor in case you lose steam.

Where to Rent

Chicago Electric Boat has four different docking stations, with different boating options available at each: Rockwell on the River (3057 N. Rockwell St., Avondale), Marina City (300 N. State St., Near North) or Chicago Riverwalk/City Winery (11 W. Riverwalk S., Loop) and Chicago Water Plaza/Sweet Home Gelato (151 W. Wacker, Loop).

Cost to Rent

The prices vary based on which boat you're interested in and which pick-up location, but prices start at $160/hour. Private cycleboats can be rented starting at $550.

Rather Relax and Drive?

If you'd rather be a back-seat driver vs captain the ship, you can choose to enlist the assistance of a licensed captain or accredited tour guide for an additional charge.

Extras for Kids

Kids receive complimentary activity books to keep them busy while cruising.

Other Helpful Bits

  • Required US Coast Guard safety gear is stocked on each vessel
  • The boating season runs April-November
  • Each boat is equipped with a radio and plug-in, so bring along a device to add a soundtrack to your day
  • You're encouraged to pack food and drinks to fully enjoy the experience
  • There is no age limited, but kids under the age of 13 must wear life vests that are provided at all times
  • To make the best use of your time on the boat, check out the recommended routes and decide which parts of the Chicago River you'd like to prioritize
  • Stops along the river are not permitted, other than the dock you retrieved your boat
  • Bathrooms, or heads, are not on board any of the boats but you are welcome to return to the dock to utilize the facilities

Another boy will meet the world, because Danielle Fishel is pregnant! The former Boy Meets World star turned 40 today and had a sweet announcement ready to celebrate. She’s expecting her second son with husband Jensen Karp.

“I couldn’t be more grateful to enter my 40’s with my amazing husband and son, excitedly expecting the arrival of baby boy #2. My birthday wish is for all of you to tell someone how much you love them and walk through today with more patience than you normally might,” Fishel noted in her caption on Instagram, accompanying a glowing bump photo.

Fishel and Karp married in 2018 and their first son, Adler Lawrence, was born a month before his due date in June 2019. The infant faced some health scares and spent 21 days in the neonatal intensive care unit, after being diagnosed with chylothorax. Today he’s healthy, happy and on his way to big brother status.

Proud dad Karp also posted a sweet tribute on his Instagram, penning “Happy 40th birthday to my life partner, a team captain and the greatest mom to our now soon to be 2 boys. She believes in our squad and even when I held a newborn Adler like he was a fragile piece of china for the 4 first months, she had the patience and care of a saint.” We’re looking forward to watching the Fishel Karp family grow!
