These smiley sponges you’ve seen everywhere are absolutely worth all the hype. They’re stiff in cold water, softer in warm, and their shape isn’t just for looks. Their smiles and eyes let you get in the nooks and crannies of small dishes and utensils. The Scrub Daddy is dishwasher safe, scratch-free, and so, so versatile!

This comedian’s viral housekeeping parody nails what it’s like trying to get the house ready for holiday visitors

It’s (just about) the most wonderful time of the year. Soon, the halls will be decked, the snow will be falling, and the chestnuts will be roasting on an open fire—but we all know none of that crap from holiday songs can happen in a house that actually looks like it has children living in it, which is why this housekeeping parody video is going massively viral.

In his video, comedian Chris Fleming nails what it’s like to get the house ready for the holidays, especially hosting guests. Dressed as a frazzled mom, he races around an already-pristine home, wielding a vacuum cleaner like it’s a sword and yelling at no one about pushing in chairs and making beds.

“I want this place looking like Disney on Ice in one minute,” he says in the video, before adding, “Harry, if you haven’t made your bed, throw it away, it’s too late to make it now.”

Stomping around the house with cleaning supplies slung over his shoulder, Fleming nails the stressed-out scowl that all moms wear while trying to simultaneously “ready” their house and deal with hyper kids who have forgotten that school ever existed.

“Company is coming!” Fleming announces. “Get rid of the couches. We can’t let people know that we sit! The chairs need to be pushed in. There cannot be any sign of living in this house. I don’t care if we have to throw everything out. I want this place looking like a new Mediterranean fusion restaurant by noon!”

In other words, Fleming gets it.

So before you resume being stressed about your own holiday housekeeping, give this hilarious video a watch. And then take a deep breath—you’ll need it to yell at the kids about picking up after themselves for the 100th time this week.

Procrastinate much? We’re here to help.

Did Mother’s Day sneak up on you again? This year we’ve got you covered with both amazing DIY gifts and some that can be delivered in a flash. These last-minute Mother’s Day gift ideas are sure to bring a smile to the number one lady in your life and let her know how appreciated she is.

Breakfast in Bed

It’s a classic Mother’s Day idea for a reason. A few minutes of extra sleep is pure gold for a mom. The kids can help make a special meal, like a fancy breakfast sandwich or some yummy pancakes, then hand deliver it along with flowers and a card.

Another idea? Let a delivery service do the work for you. Harry & David’s Waffle Brunch Gift Box has everything you need to start mom’s special day off right, including blueberry and chocolate Belgian waffles, cranberry orange loaf cake, Moose Munch ground coffee, and more. Order ASAP to get it before the big day. Harry & David Waffle Brunch Gift Box ($99.99)—Buy Here!

Do the Grocery Shopping

do the grocery shopping as a last-minute Mother's Day gift

This may seem simple, but this takes a load off of that person you love. Giving your person a complete break, especially from things like grocery shopping will mean so much and allow them to celebrate Mother's Day as they please.

Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

Natalia Fogarty via Unsplash

If mom’s got a sweet tooth, we’ve got you covered with this last-minute Mother's Day gift that she’ll gobble up. Kids will love to help dip and decorate these chocolate-covered strawberries. The only challenge will be making sure they don’t eat them before they get to her!

Edible Arrangements

Would you rather skip strawberry dipping yourself? Edible Arrangements has a super fun Mom's Chocolate-Covered Strawberries Platter that's available for fast delivery—even same day in some locations. Mom's Chocolate-Covered Strawberries Platter ($79.99)—Buy Here!

DIY Terrarium

Nielsen Ramon Unsplash

It doesn't take much to make a sweet little green bundle as a last-minute Mother's Day gift. She can take it to work or keep it in her home office or display it in the living room. Stick with plants that are low-to-no maintenance like tillandsias. For more tips on making one yourself (plus several other gifts in a jar), click here.

Order a Plant

Would you rather skip the DIY? Plants.com has these ultra-cute heart-shaped succulent gardens in two sizes. And if you're worried about delivery, they offer overnight and Saturday delivery, too. Plants.com Sweet Succulent Heart Garden ($49.99+)—Buy Here!

Take the Kids Out for the Day

iStock

As much as moms love their kids, some time alone is always a treat. Take the kids out to the park, a museum or somewhere they enjoy. Letting mom do her thing while the kids get tuckered out is always a great last-minute Mother's Day gift idea.

Organize a Game Night

The OP

If mom would rather skip getting time to herself, or after she's taken a break while the kiddos are out of the house for a bit, gather the crew for a Mother's Day game night. The OP offers Priority Overnight Delivery, so you can be sure her favorite board game will be there on time. Hues & Cues ($25.99)—Buy Here!

Have the House Cleaned

Marek Studzinski on Unsplash

We're not just talking about taking out the trash, we're talking about detailed, professional cleaning to get the house sparkling. Bonus points if you can schedule this as a surprise while mom is out: treat her to lunch on the Saturday before Mother's Day so the cleaners can come in, or schedule it while everyone is at work/school on Friday. The key here is to get it as close to Mother's Day as possible so the cleaning lasts! Brave enough to tackle this job on your own? Get the kids to help with a few tips.

Prefer to do the home cleaning instead of a service? Make it extra special with luxe cleaning supplies that make the whole house smell like a spa. All of Caldrea's products smell incredible, but we're especially fond of their Pear Blossom Agave fragrance. Oh, and it's available on Amazon, so snap up a scent that reminds you of mom's favorite things and make her day. Caldrea Pear Blossom Agave Collection—Buy Here!

Make Bath Salts

Stephanie Gerber via Hello Glow

This bath salt recipe from Hello Glow is a two-step mix, and it's easy enough that the kiddos can help. To make this gift extra thoughtful, pair it with a few hours of peace, a nice hot bath, and, of course, the muddled drinkable version of the mojito. For even more DIY gifts you can make mom, click here.

Herbivore/Amazon

Salt not mom's style? Herbivore's Coconut Milk Bath Soak is made from organic coconut milk, protein-rich coconut pulp and natural essential oils, and has luxurious softening and moisturizing properties helping to target dryness and dullness, and leaving the skin feeling silky-soft. Herbivore Botanicals Coconut Milk Bath Soak ($17.60+)—Buy on Amazon!

Plan a Picnic Lunch

Liana Mikah via Unsplash

Eating out on Mother's Day is more stressful than it's worth. Splurge on a picnic basket full of mom's favorite goodies and head to one of her favorite botanical gardens or local parks. Surprise her by packing her current novel or a couple of magazines and take the kiddos on a romp around the park while she lounges in the sun with a full belly and a glass of wine/cup of coffee from the thermos you so thoughtfully filled. Don't forget to pack kid-occupying items like pens and paper, playing cards, and bubbles to keep the kiddos busy enough that mom can relax.

Sunflora/Amazon

This one-and-done picnic backpack with insulated cooler and blanket is a perfect gift to give alongside your family picnic plans. Sunflora Picnic Backpack ($67.99)—Buy on Amazon!

Washi Tape Photo Frame

Amazon

Transform your plain-Jane frame into something colorful or coordinating with the aid of the world's finest craft item: Washi tape. Widely available and easy to snag on Amazon, the array of colors and patterns is vast and the combos are endless. The best part? It's as easy to apply as it is to remove so if you get bumps or go crooked, you can repair it and re-do it like a pro. And when you're done, try out some of these cute games and crafts with the leftover tape. Carousel Greetings Washi Tape Set ($16.95)—Buy on Amazon!

Phone to Frame

Art.com via Facebook

Take a special photo or a snapshot or scan of your kids' best art and use one of these apps to get it off of your phone and into a wall-worthy frame in just seconds. It's one of the easiest last-minute Mother's Day gifts around.

HP/Amazon

Skip the app and print frame-worthy pics right from your phone with one of these HP photo printers. They both work with iOS and Android devices. The HP Sprocket Portable 2x3" Instant Color Photo Printer (shown here) prints sticky-back 2x3" photos mom can stick anywhere, while the HP Sprocket Studio Plus WiFi Printer wirelessly prints 4x6" photos from your phone or tablet. Both are available on Amazon, so no need to worry about shipping on time with Prime.

We’ve all been there. Staring down a pile of laundry or an entire bin of toys on the ground and thought, do these chores really matter? If we’re being honest, when considering all the things we balance as parents, cleaning the house usually falls somewhere toward the bottom of the must-do list. And for good reason. After all, there are other (more important) things that usually take precedence: work, feeding a family, getting kids to school, and somewhere in there—finding time for self-care. But, eventually, you’re going to need to tackle that fridge or make a clean sweep of the place before guests arrive. The good news is, there are plenty of shortcuts and cleaning hacks you can use to tackle both the little and the big jobs, which leaves you more time for the things that really matter—like bedtime stories, family dinners, or a good Netflix binge-session.

Don’t forget a single hack! Click here to pin on Pinterest.

1. Decide what to clean in the first place

Before you check out all these cleaning hacks, take an honest look at your bandwidth and decide what you can do and when. If you can do one or two small things a day, nothing every piles up, which makes your house look more tidy overall.

2. Use an oven-cleaning hack that doesn’t take hours

It’s everyone’s least favorite chore if it even ever gets done. Forget about using the self-cleaning option and go old-school with baking soda, a sponge, and real citrus.

2. Consider buying baskets for every room

Need to clean up in a jiff? Using creative storage solutions is an absolute must. Make sure you have a basket or bin in each room to throw everything in before housekeeping or a surprise visit from grandparents. When the basket is full, it’s time to put everything away. When you’re on the hunt for a special item and can’t find it, it’s time to dump out the basket, find your treasure, and put everything away. Plus, with so many styles and colors, it’s a total design hack, too!

3. Try a ceiling fan cleaning hack that really works

Instead of using paper towels or a Swiffer (dust will get everywhere), use an old pillowcase. The dust will be captured inside!

4. Embrace a solution for how to dry sheets the first time

a cleaning hack for how to dry sheets
Amazon

This little device is of those things that’ll make you say, “Why didn’t I think of that?” It helps prevent the dreaded rolled and wadded mess of half-dried sheets that lead to multiple cycles in the dryer and inevitably waste energy (and valuable time). Just clip the corners of your sheet into the Wad-Free before you wash and dry. Get a 2-pack on Amazon for $20.

5. Check out air fryer cleaning hack that’s safe

If you love your air fryer as much as we love ours, it’s probably time to talk about how often you actually clean it out. While you should be cleaning the basket every time, there are a few deep-cleaning tricks you should try every few months too.

6. Use this genius cleaning hack to get glitter off tables, floors, and just about anywhere else

a cleaning hack for how to clean up glitter
Gabby Cullen

The kids are dying to pull out the art supplies and go wild making you a masterpiece for the fridge. But, who can stand the glitter that inevitably ends up everywhere, forever? Pull out a lint roller and use it after they’re done being creative, you’ll be amazed at how much of the sparkly stuff you’ll be able to clean up.

7. Keep your supplies where you need them

Whether you’re trying to get your kids to do their chores or just want to make cleaning easier for yourself, Joyful Homemaking has an amazing idea. Create your very own chore baskets with plastic shower caddies—one basket for each room with a list of items that go in each basket.

8. Use toothpaste to clean in a pinch

using toothpaste is a smart cleaning hack
iStock

Plain white toothpaste includes baking soda, which is a common household cleaning supply. You can use toothpaste to clean jewelry, polish bathroom fixtures, get rid of kitchen odors, and much more.

9. Figure out which tools you need to really clean that fridge

Queen of Clean Vanessa Amaro gives you the low-down on everything you’ll need to get your fridge REALLY clean. Here’s a hint: grab a toothbrush!

10. Use lemon on everything

It’s a miracle cleaning solution that you probably already have! Use it to clean that oven, descale an electric kettle, put half in your dishwasher to cut grease, and so much more.

11. Clean plastic toys in the washing machine

Gabby Cullen

Whether covered in sticky residue from your own kid or if you’re giving a secondhand set a fresh start, plastic blocks clean right up when sent through the wash. Be sure to add items like towels or sheets to prevent banging during the cycle.

We’re springing forward (but into sales)

Are you trying to adjust to the time change? If you’re anything like us, it takes a little while to fully acclimate to losing an hour of sleep but gaining some extra sunshine (we’re especially excited about that!). Even though this week may feel a little “off”, that doesn’t mean we perked right up when we saw the best spring sales out there! In fact, we’d go so far as to say that our favorite deals and steals get us more excited than our favorite iced oat milk lattes.

There are a lot of reasons to shop this time of year, too! Easter is coming up. Spring break vacations are being planned. Mother’s Day is around the corner, followed by graduation season and Father’s Day. It makes sense to start our shopping early so we’re not scrambling at the last minute to be prepared. So if you find your kiddos needing new shoes, if you need to replenish your house cleaning supplies, or you just really love saving money, read on for the best spring sales!

If you are lucky, there is a grandparent just waiting to get their hands on your little one for a night or two. Making sure Grandma's house is safe, stocked and ready to go for a visit is your key to regular date nights! We have some suggestions to make visits to Grandma's house as fun and stress-free as possible for everyone involved.

4Moms

1. A Place to Sleep & Play
Your little one needs safe spots to nap, sleep and play at Grandma's house! The good news is you don't need to take over their home and set up a separate nursery and playroom for your tiny tot to feel like they are at home. Get a great travel crib, like the 4Moms Breeze Plus above, you can use for overnights with the grandparents (and when you travel farther away). As a test run, let your little one spend some time, or even nap, in the travel crib at your place so they are not adjusting to both that and sleeping in new surroundings. If you don't already have one at home, check out a service like BabyQuip that will deliver one right to Grandma's front door.

2. Baby Gate
Babies who are mobile, including crawlers, need baby gates on stairs to keep them safe. But there is no need to drill holes in the walls. Pressure-mounted baby gates will work on most stairs. This type of baby gate does not require any permanent hardware to be installed to be used safely. Instead, tension keeps these gates in place. That means you can remove them when you head home. To cut down on expenses, use the same gate in your home and bring it with you when you visit.

3. Cabinet & Door Locks
Just like at home, it's important to keep little ones away from sharp objects, cleaning supplies, medications and other everyday household items that could pose a threat to baby's safety. Adhesive, magnetic cabinet and door locks are a great solution. These locks from Eco-Baby do not require any drilling to install, and they can be activated or de-activated with built-in latches. That means grandparents can babyproof her cabinets and drawers only when their favorite little person is over for a visit and open them freely when their house is a baby-free zone.

4. Outlet Covers
Once a baby starts crawling and for many years afterward, outlet covers are a must. These are small, unobtrusive, inexpensive, only need to be installed once, and are easy to remove. Just arrive at Grandma's house with a box and this babyproofing item can be knocked off your list in under 10 minutes!

Motorola

5. Baby Monitor
Grandma and Grandpa will need to keep an ear open for when baby wakes up from a nap or emits middle-of-the-night cries of hunger. Functionality and ease is the name of the game when it comes to a grandparent-friendly baby monitor. The Motorola Touch Connect has a large touchscreen for viewing, two-way communication and comes with pre-loaded lullabies. Plus, if Grandma accidentally wanders out of range with it, an alarm will go off.

6. First Aid Kit
Buy a baby first aid kit to send to Grandma's house or make one of your own. If you go the DIY route, include some basic first aid and grooming items. A nasal aspirator, baby pain reliever and a thermometer are a must. Because no one likes getting scratched by little nails, try a grandma-friendly bbluv electric nail trimmer, which uses tiny emery boards rather than clippers to get the job done. To add a little humor to baby's stay, an Oh Sh*t Kit Max from Rafi Nova contains a variety of everyday essentials and hacks to make sure Grandma is prepared for (almost) any situation. Consider including a form that allows grandparents to consent to medical treatment in case of emergency.

7. Make Grandma's Life Easier
Once baby starts solids, a couple of hacks can make a visit easier: Pack a variety of baby- or toddler-size portions of foods in a Bentgo box that Grandma can use for feedings at home or on the go. Make clean-up easier with the gift of a cordless wet-dry floor cleaner like a SLYDE. If more than one grandchild will be visiting, label everything with stickers from Mabel's Labels that are waterproof and nearly indestructible.

6 Ways to Turn Dollar Store Finds into Creative Activities

The kitchen can easily become cluttered, making it less efficient to do daily tasks like making the kids’ lunches. Here are our top five kitchen organization tricks to help organize your kitchen and simplify school lunch preparation.

1. Clean Out Your Pantry & Refrigerator
Places like the pantry and fridge can quickly become disorganized. If you often catch yourself searching for certain foods or rummaging past miscellaneous items like pet food or cleaning supplies, take the time to clean out these spaces. Remove everything and set them on the counter or table. Sort through the items and toss anything that is expired, anything you know you won’t use, or anything that doesn’t belong.

While everything is out of the pantry or refrigerator, take a moment to wipe down the surfaces. Before you put anything back, create an organizational system that makes the most sense for you—such as sorting and storing items by type or priority for easier access. Bonus points if you repackage some items into clear storage bins for better visibility!

2. Optimize Your Storage Spaces
While we wish everyone could have walk-in pantries and spacious cabinets, that’s not always the case. Regardless of the size of your kitchen, there are ways to maximize what you have and create a more optimized storage system. Use cabinet shelves to double or triple your shelf space or under-cabinet baskets to create additional storage. If you don’t already have a kitchen island, add a simple wire shelving unit with a wooden top. Not only will this increase your storage space, but it will also increase the amount of work surface you have.

For a weekend project, you can go a step further and renovate your pantry. Remove inefficient wood shelves and replace them with wire shelving. A small swap like this can make a world of a difference for everyday use.

3. Keep Frequently Used Items on a Cart
Are you always pulling out the same items when making your kids’ lunch or running out of storage room? One of our favorite multi-purpose solutions for kitchen organization is a mobile wire utility cart. This rolling cart can act as moveable storage to hold frequently used snacks, containers, or cooking utensils. This can help streamline the lunch preparation—not only allowing you to pull out everything at once but giving you the ability to tuck it away quickly once done.

4. Designate a Lunch Box Home
Never hunt for a lunch bag again by creating a designated lunch box storage spot. Streamline the process and add small coat hooks in your pantry or a J-hook onto wire shelving to hang lunch boxes near where you prepare the food. Alternatively, keep them along with their backpack, sports gear, or other school items to keep it all stored in one spot.

5. Make Lunch Prep Accessible to Your Kids
When your kids feel like they’re part of the lunch-making process, they may be more encouraged to eat and enjoy the meal. Help get your kids involved by keeping items easily accessible. Organize your kitchen to give them some autonomy—store common lunch foods at their height, like in a lower drawer in the fridge or on a lower shelf in the pantry and ask them to pick out what type of fruit cup they want that day.

Store non-dangerous utensils like kid-safe knives, plastic cookie cutters, or rubber containers at their level to select and grab themselves. You can also stash a small stool nearby, so they can reach the counter and assist with food prep and lunch box assembly.

Hopefully these kitchen organization tips will help make packing the kids’ lunches more efficient and enjoyable for the whole family.
