This season’s it show has made a majorly mod splash. We’re talking, of course, about Palm Royale. Another AppleTV hit, this 1969-set show has us both cheering for and cringing at the story of Maxine (Kristen Wiig) and her ambitious attempt to break into Palm Beach, FL’s high society. If the plot wasn’t enough, the fashion, decor, and full 1960s aesthetic would have us hooked.

From the colors to the prints to the fabrics, Palm Royale is a class in 1969’s, well…class. In fact, some of our favorite brands are embracing it all: AnthropologieTuckernuck, and, of course, Lilly Pulitzer (born in Palm Beach in the 60’s!) are all about this vibe, too. The Palm Beach socialites don’t hold anything back when it comes to appearances, so it’s impossible to not want to replicate it all. Of course, that might be like…a lot, but there are some fabulous ways to add a mid century modern twist to your day. Whether you’re ready to elevate your closet, your home, or both, we have the 1960s-inspired swag that’s easy to incorporate into 2024.

If a road trip with your rugrat has you stressed—don’t fear! A smart stash of supplies will keep your little one comfortable and content on your travels. This road trip with baby checklist includes everything from snacks for all parties involved, ways to keep kiddo comfortable in their car seat, and extra supplies like books and new toys to make the trip actually enjoyable.

1. First Aid Kit

Buy a ready-made kit to keep in the car or put together your own with the essentials (adhesive bandages, antiseptic pads, gauze pads, tweezers, cold packs, scissors). Bonus: A box of bandages can keep a toddler busy in a pinch. Simply open up the box and let your little one take out the strips and put them back in, over and over. If that loses its magic, let them peel and stick bandages all over themselves and the car seat.

2. Bags to Hold Dirty Clothes

You may be leaving your house, but you’re not leaving laundry behind, unfortunately. Pack a few plastic bags you can use if there’s a blowout or spit-up situation. Better yet, buy Wash.It.Later’s Soak & Save Bags to give you a place to stash dirty clothes until you can toss them in the wash. These bags are pocket-size, leak-proof and have built-in stain-busting solution inside them.

3. Sun Shade

Who doesn’t get cranky when they’re too hot? That air conditioning doesn’t always reach the back seat. To keep kids cool and block UVA and UVB rays, attach one of these sun shades to your car window.

4. Diaper-Changing Kit

When you’re dealing with a dirty diaper on the road, a good diaper kit is a game-changer. You’ll want one that includes a changing mat, wipes, and diaper sacks that lock in wetness and odor, for when you don’t want your car to smell like…you know. No more digging through bottomless diaper bags looking for changing necessities in a panic! Now your trip just got a whole lot smoother.

5. Extra Baby Blankets

Muslin swaddling blankets are lifesavers on long road trips, and in general. They can keep your baby cozy when it’s nap time, act as a light and sound-reducing cover, mop up messes, and can even be folded into a makeshift diaper in a pinch.

6. New Toys & Old Favorites

Pack your little one’s favorite toys, especially a lovey, and throw in a few newbies, too. Put a cardboard box or plastic bin on the seat next to your child’s car seat and fill it with a mix of easy-to-grab toys, like this Oball Shaker and a drawing board. Small trucks and dolls are always a hit too. To maximize the wow factor and keep kids busy longer, wrap each toy before the trip. For more ideas, check out The Best Baby & Toddler Toys for the Car.

7. Mini Vacuum

Crumbs and toddlers go together like peanut butter and jelly. If all that mess drives you nuts, buy a portable vacuum cleaner with a car-compatible power plug, like this one. You’ll use it (and love it!) for years to come.

8. Extra Outfits—for You & Your Babe

Bring at least two or three changes of clothes for your baby, and keep it easily accessible. Keep a clean shirt nearby for yourself, too, as there’s a good chance you’ll get soaked in spit-up. It’s the law of the road.

9. Board Books

A few board books are perfect road-trip distractions for babies and toddlers. Littler ones love to gnaw on Indestructables, drool-friendly books featuring faves like farm animals and smiling faces. Interactive lift-the-flap books and texture-packed books are made to mesmerize toddlers. For more book ideas, read 25 Board Books Every Baby Needs.

10. Tunes for Days!

Your favorite jams will help put everyone on board in a good mood! No need to resort to the Wiggles; put on any music that makes you happy, and chances are your baby will bop along to the beat too. Just be sure to put together a lullaby-packed playlist for nap time.

11. Munchies

Road trips always induce snack attacks, no matter what age you are! We have some smart travel-friendly snack ideas here.

Make sure to capture all your adventures on the road—and share them with your family and friends near and far—with the Tinybeans app. The secure platform puts parents in total control of who sees and interacts with photos and videos of their kids.

‘Mom clothes’ definitely don’t have to mean boring. Trust us.

The idea of ‘mom clothes’ make us seriously cringe. Images of our moms kick in for some reason, and although we love them dearly, the early 90’s average mom style isn’t always one we want to emulate (no offense, mom!). The good news? Moms are trendy now. The better news? Our shopping editor is a former personal stylist (as in, was paid to offer this kind of advice) and has rounded up a few absolute must-haves for any mom (or non-mom, of course).

Naturally, ‘must-have’ is subjective. But there are some pieces that are classics, can be mixed-and-matched together, and paired with whatever’s already in your closet. No matter what kind of mom you are, you’ll see exactly why these just make sense for your wardrobe. Also, keep in mind that we also highly recommend leggings you love and jeans that are perfectly broken-in, so make sure to check out our posts that are fully dedicated to both of those! Forget everything you think you know about mom clothes and check out our top picks.

The Perfect White Tee

There is nothing, and we mean nothing, more versatile than a white t-shirt when it comes to wardrobe basics. Crisp and structured enough to wear to work, soft and comfortable enough for the weekend. You also can’t go wrong with layers, and a white t-shirt is the foundation for hundreds, if not thousands, of different looks.

For Work: Wear your white tee under a blazer or classic cardigan. Try it with high-waisted pants, a skinny belt, and a pair of mules. Slip a classic button-down shirt on over a white t-shirt and leave the buttons open for more casual office days.

For the Weekend: If jeans were your first thought, you’d be on the money. Jeans and a white t-shirt will never go out of style. Throw it on over a not-as-casual sleeveless dress to transform it into a casual look.

Athleta

Our Picks:

A Do-It-All Dress

Even if you’re not typically a dress-wearer, having at least one in your closet to reach for when you need it is a must. Date night, the office, BBQs, dance recitals—with the right dress, you can wear it over and over again (and if you style it right, no one will ever even know!). We learn toward solid colors, and classic, flattering fits, but the best dress is the one you feel your best wearing. So don’t shy away from prints, bold colors, or interesting details.

For Work: Flats or booties are your best friend when it comes to changing up your dress vibe. Add a wrap sweater or sleeveless cardigan for layering.

For Weekend: Swap the shoes! Just throw on some clean white sneakers and boom, casual dress. Pull on that white tee we mentioned or a sweatshirt or hoodie over it and change the whole look. Denim jacket or athletic zip-up? Easy, peasy.

Of/Mercer

Our Picks:

A One-&-Done Jumpsuit

Maybe you’ve been resisting jumpsuits. Maybe you haven’t found one that really feels good when you wear it. It’s totally possible you have an idea of jumpsuits that makes you cringe. All totally understandable, but we’re here to change your mind. A one-and-done outfit is a seriously valuable piece in any wardrobe, especially when it’s highly versatile. We’ll be giving you some jumpsuit options that really go the distance and can be worn in a bunch of different ways, no matter what kind of hurry you’re in. Solid colors really are your bff here, but we’ll never tell you that you have to stick with a specific color or print (or lack thereof!). Open your mind to jumpsuits and we’ll guide you on this new journey.

For Work: Depending on the sleeve length of your jumpsuit (pick the one that feels the best and don’t necessarily sweat the seasonality—layers are always an option), a cropped blazer is a great option for taller folks. If you’re on the petite side, a belted blazer helps to shape and define your waist, so no blocky jumpsuit silhouettes here! Add booties or chunky loafers.

For Weekend: Sneakers. Sandals. For a quick throw-on-and-go option, literally just throw on that jumpsuit and head out the door. Want to add a little more styling to it? Reach for a denim jacket and a pair of lug boots, or add some fun jewelry and strappy heels for a night out. It couldn’t be easier.

Albion

Our Picks:

A Transitional Sweater

Summer to fall, winter to spring—sweaters are a solid closet staple. And while we love trending pullovers that are perfect for each season, it’s the in-between weather that gets us every time. Make sure you have a versatile not-too-heavy, not-too-light sweater at your fingertips.

For Work: Over a button-down. With a dress (seriously, just layer it right over). With a cute neck scarf and tailored trousers.

For Weekend: Add it to the jumpsuit we just talked about. Layer it with a printed tee. Leggings and boots? Instant outfit.

Old Navy

Our Picks:

A Statement-Making Vintage Tee

This one is super fun. Literally any t-shirt that makes a statement is the one for you, but what we mean is one that’s crazy soft, that fits you just the way you want it to, and that gives you a little edgy pep in your step.

For Work: Of course, you’ll want to make sure you’re sticking with the appropriateness of of your specific office, so use your best discretion But, if it’s an environment that’ll let you rock a tee, add the blazer we can’t stop talking about, and make sure you tuck your t-shirt in for a more put-together look. If jeans are okay, we won’t object, but we actually like the idea of a pencil skirt or straight-leg pants. Don’t forget a belt!

For Weekend: There is literally no way to casually wear a t-shirt, but consider mixing it up with colored jeans, wear it under overalls or a jumper (they’re back, btw)…it’s a favorite because you can match it with so much.

Our Picks:

Pebby Forevee

Our Picks:

The Boyfriend Blazer

Unless your office is business-formal, we’re rapidly moving away from tailored blazers (unless you’re into that, in which case, keep doing it!) and into a more relaxed vibe of boyfriend blazers. Slightly oversized, it’s less about being swallowed up and more about moving with ease and rolling the sleeves. A blazer just pulls everything together, so even if you’re in the most casual outfit ever, adding a boyfriend blazer elevates it in a snap.

For Work & For Weekend: This is the blazer we’ve been talking about to pair with absolutely everything on this list!

Cicy Bell on Amazon

Our Picks:

Comfortable & Crisp White Sneakers

We’re in love with the fact that real comfortable sneakers are trending, and no color or style is more on-trend than the perfect white sneaker. There’s really no way to go wrong here, but we’re loving a more athletic, higher profile style at the moment. No matter what you choose, the number one thing (aside from comfort, which is the most important!) is to keep them clean. Give them a quick wipe-down after wearing them to keep them looking sharp.

For Work: Casual Friday = white sneakers with everything! Or, depending on the type of workplace you’re in, you can replace those pumps with white sneakers that really go the distance.

For Weekend: What Old Navy flip-flops were to us in 2003, these white sneakers are to us now. That casual dress? White sneakers. Leggings and a sweatshirt? Right, yes, white sneakers. Jeans and a t-shirt? You see where we’re going with this.

When it comes to household chores, you’ve got plenty of tasks to go around. More importantly, when kids are required to pitch in and help with age-appropriate chores, they’ll learn how to cooperate, gain a sense of independence and feel a sense of accomplishment. If you’re wondering what exactly to put on your chore chart for kids, we’ve broken it down by age, from toddlers up to tweens. From picking up toys to helping with dinner, here is our ultimate chore list for kids.

Age-Appropriate Chores for Ages 2-3

toddler doing age-appropriate chores

Pick up the toys. Ask your toddler to help clean up when playtime is over, instead of doing it at the end of the day when you’d rather be watching Netflix instead of cleaning up DUPLO blocks.

Wipe up small spills. This is an easy one and is especially important if they are the ones that made the mess. Don't make a big deal, just let them know they need to clean up after themselves.

Put shoes away. A toddler can easily put his shoes away, especially if there's a special bin or shelf for footwear.

Put dirty clothes in the hamper. Show your little one where clothes go before he chooses his own drop spot.

Match socks. An easy way to let someone else worry about why there's always one sock missing.

Throw away trash. Kids can start putting trash in its proper place at an early age.

Pick up sticks in the yard. What's more fun than collecting sticks?

Sort the groceries. Preschool-aged kids can help you put away things like cereal, snacks, canned goods, and other things that aren't too heavy or breakable.

Chore List for Kids Ages 4-5

putting away silverwear should be on a chore list for kids ages 4 to 5

All of the chores listed above.

Put away clean utensils. It’s the little things!

Brush their own teeth. This is an easy self-care chore that any preschooler can tackle.

Fold washcloths or napkins. Something small and square is the perfect first item to have your pre-k kid learn how to fold.

Make their own bed. This is a tough one because busy school mornings can get in the way. Weekends are wide open, however, and there’s nothing like a made bed to give your home a clean, fresh feeling.

Collect the mail. This one doesn't even feel like a chore.

Bring their belongings in from the car. Whether it's their toys or backpack, four-and five-year-olds are old enough to make sure everything gets inside at the end of the day.

All of the chores listed above.

Help prep a basic meal. If kids with knives don't sound like a good idea, there are plenty of other things they can do. Think: gather ingredients, measure spices, crack and whisk eggs, grate some cheese, flip pancakes, and more.

Wipe down surfaces. Kids this age are perfectly capable of spraying, wiping, and cleaning down a surface. Especially if they are the ones that made the mess in the first place.

Take control of their school gear. Stop gathering your kids’ stuff every night or morning. These early years are the right time to set up good work habits.

Water the plants. This is a great chore to help develop organizational skills. Have your kid schedule a once-a-week date with a watering can on the calendar.

Help carry in groceries. Unless you're using the multiple trips to and from the car as your cardio for the day.

Set and clear the table. You prepared the meal, so your kids should help to set and clear the plates. Simple as that.

Put away laundry. Imagine a place where the laundry gets put away instead of collecting dust in a basket somewhere. It can be a reality, we promise!

Feed pets. Your grade-school-aged kid loves the dog, the chickens, and the family turtle. Well, no time like the present to teach him how to take care of something smaller than he is.

Chore List for Kids Ages 8-10

All of the chores listed above.

Basic home maintenance. At around 10, kids can begin to do small tasks around the house that helps with upkeep like putting in new lightbulbs, changing batteries, and hanging small pictures.

Load and unload the dishwasher. Most days, after unloading, the thing fills right back up and needs to be unloaded again. Your early tween is an ideal candidate for helping out with this daily task.

Help with recycling and garbage. Older kids can sort recyclables, empty wastebaskets, and help pull trash cans in from the road. It’s also a good way for them to learn about consumption and to see where waste goes.

Vacuum the rugs. The best part about handing off this task is that your kids will have to keep their rooms picked up in order to fulfill their duty.

Dust shelves, blinds, and furniture. A Swiffer duster makes this chore a breeze.

Clean the mirrors in the bathrooms. Older kids are strong enough, and usually tall enough to reach the top of the mirror by now. Pass the Windex.

Move clothes from the washer to the dryer. Most kids ages eight and up are tall enough (and old enough) to start helping with the laundry. If there are items you don't want in the dryer or if you like to use a certain heat setting, be sure to show the kids the ropes in advance.

All of the chores listed above.

Walk the dog. Take pet care to the next level by asking your tween to take on giving Fido his daily workout.

Help with grocery shopping. Give your big kid his own list at the store, and arrange to meet up at the checkout. You'll cut your shopping time in half!

Vacuum out the car. She's already tackled vacuuming the living room and her bedroom. Add on the family car once a month or every other week.

Babysit for siblings or relatives in small increments. Whether it's to take charge at a social or family gathering or leave your tween in charge for 30 minutes while you run a quick errand, this is a good age to test the waters for child care.

Rake leaves. Before you can mow the grass, the leaves need to be raked. Tweens can handle this, plus it's a great way to keep them outside and off tablets.

Change their own bedsheets (and keep the bed made). This is a chore that only takes a few minutes, but it's a game changer when it comes to feeling like you're on top of the mess.

Set up your child for a great start with this list of must-haves

Diapers? Check. Lunch? Check. A sleepy child? Check! If you’re wondering what to pack for daycare, and even if your childcare provider has a list of items kids will need on a typical day, some things can make all the difference in your little one’s day. From weather-appropriate gear to a family photo, here’s your handy daycare checklist of must-haves and why they’re important.

1. Labels
Slap your kid’s name on everything, from bottles to clothes. We love Mabel’s Labels because they’re pre-printed with your child’s name, come in easy-to-use packs, and stay put through hundreds of washings. Put waterproof labels on your child’s bag, lunch bag, jacket, and inside shoes. If your child has food allergies, order allergy labels, too.

2. Bottles & Liquids
Depending on how long your little one will be at daycare, you’ll need baby bottles plus breast milk or formula or, for older kids, a leak-proof water bottle. Be sure to pre-measure the formula. Most daycares have refrigerators or freezers available to keep liquids cold.

3. Lunch Bag & Bibs
You’ll also need a lunch bag and bib if your little one eats solid food. An insulated lunch bag is best, as it keeps food cool and can be used later on for picnics and other excursions. We love the PackIt lunch bags with built-in cold packs.

4. Diapers & Wipes
Gather up diapers in the right size, and send off as many as your little one will need at the start of each week, with a few extra just in case. It’s easiest to label diapers with a Sharpie. Be sure to send a labeled pack of wipes, too. And pack diaper cream if your little one is prone to rashes.

5. Spare Clothes
Pack at least two spare outfits for your child. You never know when your little one will have a blowout or get food or art supplies on themselves, and childcare centers don’t usually have spare clothes in every size. Check the size and seasonality of the spare clothes in your bag every two or three months so your kiddo isn’t stuck in shorts two sizes too small in January. Oh, and don’t forget extra socks!

6. Medication
If your child takes medication regularly, bring a brand new bottle with you in its original packaging. Most daycares have very specific requirements due to licensing and keeping little ones safe. Be sure to follow those requirements carefully so your baby’s medication is readily available and can be dispensed by daycare staff when needed.

7. Sunscreen & a Hat
You want your baby’s skin protected during outdoor playtime, so packing baby-friendly sunscreen is a must. Send a labeled bottle of your favorite sunscreen, and add a sun hat for extra coverage.

8. Weather Gear
Fresh air is brain food for babies, and most daycares bring kids outside as often as possible, even if it’s just for a few minutes. That means toddlers might stomp around in puddles or stare up at snowflakes. Pack weather-appropriate gear (boots, jackets, hats) so your little one is comfortable, no matter the weather.

9. A Family Photo
Many daycares put family photos up on their walls or have them in a readily available photo album. Little ones love to look at pics of their family membersjust like we do. Check with your child’s school to see if they have specific requirements for what types of photos to send.

10. Lovies
Lovies make the transition from home to daycare a little easier, so it’s a must on our daycare checklist. Remember, while it’s a good idea to pack a favorite snuggly item, don’t send something irreplaceable (or buy a backup), as blankies can disappear. Also, ask if your daycare center has policies on what you can and can’t bring. Order a pair of matching lovies, like the snuggly offerings from Bunnies by the Bay, or the two-packs of security blankets from Copper Pearl, and you’ll be all set. A few days before the big drop-off day at daycare, hold the lovie to give it some of your comforting scent.

11. Lists of Your Little One’s Likes & Dislikes, Plus Paperwork
Does your baby love a good lullaby before naps or hate avocados? Daycares usually send home paperwork that includes a getting-to-know-you child form, plus essential information like medical history and development and milestone updates. Fill out these forms and include any additional information your baby’s caregivers might need so they can take good care of your sweet babe.

Make sure to snap some photos of their first day of daycare—and share them with your family and friends near and far—with the Tinybeans app. The secure platform puts parents in total control of who sees and interacts with photos and videos of their kids.

This SNL Macy’s Ad parody should be required yearly holiday viewing

You’re not the only parent dreading holiday outfit season—and Saturday Night Live is here to prove it. In this classic short, which should be required viewing by moms and dads every year, SNL parodies a Macy’s Christmas clothing sale commercial, revealing what everyone really thinks about those not-so-comfy kids’ clothes—and maybe about their spouses, too. This one’s NSFK (Not Safe for Kids) so watch it when you’ve got 2 minutes to yourself. LOL.

While you’re at it, keep the SNL hits coming with viewings of “I Got a Robe,” the forever mom holiday anthem, and the “Best Christmas Ever” skit, in which Matt Damon and Cecily Strong flashback to the hot mess that was their supposedly “perfect” and “magical” day.

After opening with men’s blazers and women’s cashmere sweaters, the faux ad kicks up the comedy as the voiceover says, “And for your little ones, Macy’s has the best of fashions that will have them saying…” Here’s where the cute kiddos go full-on into pure Christmas-time tantrums. One little girl stomps up and down, shouting, “It’s too hot!” A boy snarks, “It itches,” and a baby—well, the half-dressed tot just cries (how we feel this in our bones).

The mock-mercial previews just about every rewarding experience that awaits you, including, “wrestling your wiggly little monster into winter clothes” and “Merino sweaters that won’t fit over his head.” The parody goes on to advertise “hard, shiny shoes that hurt,” “all holiday rompers she’ll never get off in time,” “kids’ jackets so big and thick, they won’t fit in their car seats anymore,” “snow boots that are so hard to put on it will strain your marriage,” and, of course, “shirts with the wrong Frozen princess.”

If you’re in the heat of the holiday hustle, we suggest that you take a break and watch this so you can laugh-cry about the fun, festive tradition.

Even if it was a race to the finish to get out the door, these holiday outfits will definitely make you show up looking glowy and glam

Every year we swear we’re going to stress less this season, plan holiday shopping early, time it all just right, and float into holiday parties and get-togethers fully polished. And every year that doesn’t come close to happening. If you’re anything like us, you totally understand this scenario, so we decided to round up some holiday outfits to help you take care of the age-old question: “What am I going to wear?” so you can focus on other merry-making.

These holiday outfits are stunning, but they’re also practical, flattering, and wonderfully easy to throw on at the last minute. We know what it’s like to run around the house in sweat pants and an old college shirt, Velcro rollers barely hanging on, mascara on only one eye, helping everyone but yourself get ready to get out the door. With our picks, you won’t look like that’s how you spent the 45 minutes leading up to leaving. We also made sure to include pieces that are great for every body and everyone’s personal style. Check them all out below and check one more thing off your holiday list.
