We were recently turned onto Rascal + Friends, a brand whose devout followers include Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Their diapers, exclusively sold at Walmart, use only water-based inks and feature no harsh chemicals or formaldehyde. They’re cruelty-free and vegan and certified by PETA. You can find diapers in sizes 1-6, as well as wipes and training pants.

Celeb endorsements aside, here’s what sets Rascal + Friends apart (and why you’ll love them):

The design is smart: our pre-kid selves never thought we’d be enamored with a diaper’s design, but here we are changing multiple diapers daily and truly impressed with Rascal + Friends’ design. We like the higher, high back waistband that’s flexible and moves with baby, the curved leg cuff whose wings expand outward to prevent leaks, and the tabs that are easy to affix when baby is moving around during changes (and stay put after the diaper is changed).
They’re affordable. A 182 count of size 3 diapers costs $39.97, which comes out to 22 cents per diaper. This is less than some of the premium name-brand diaper brands we’ve used in the past.

Add to that Happy Camper's focus on sustainability (they only source sustainable natural cotton) and accurate sizing (sizes range from size 1 to size 5 and are on par with more mainstream brands), and this brand is sure to win over moms, celebrity-endorsement or not. 11. Clueless about breast pumps? Even before your baby needs clothes, furniture or brain-boosting activities (remember, Kindergarten admissions is a scant five years away!), they need to eat. If you choose to formula feed, you’ll need bottles, nipples, a scrub-brush that can go deep, and possibly even a bottle warmer. For those you can go chain, like Babies-R-Us or even your local CVS or Duane Reade. But if you’re nursing, you’ll probably want more personalized attention to help you pick a bra, breast-pump, lotion and pillows. 12. Want some breastfeeding support? If you do choose to breastfeed, you may learn (many do) that you and baby do not join as one and float off on some endorphin-fueled cloud; it can take some practice to get the hang of it. 12. In search of some Mommy & Me exercise? Harlem Yoga Studio is dedicated to being affordable and accessible to all moms and their babies, while The Yoga Room in Astoria and Long Island City brings a similar service to Queens, Bread & Yoga serves Inwood, and Brooklyn has Shanti Baby Yoga. Feel like swimming instead of omm-ing? Imagine Swimming and Take Me to the Water have locations around the city, while 92^nd St. Y and 14^th St. Y fulfill the needs of those looking for more than just swimming lessons, with other family programming. And don’t forget the gyms that offer childcare (that’s the “Just Me” part).
