We Asked Kids What They’d Do as President & Their Answers Are Hilarious

President’s Day just might be the perfect opportunity to check in with your kiddos to find out what their first order of business would be if they were in charge. Take five today and ask your child to finish the sentence, “If I were the President I would…” We asked a few kiddos the question and the results are compassionate, heartwarming and also, hilarious. Scroll down to see their answers.

Miles (4): "I’d make less bad guys."

Huck (6):
-I'd find out if aliens exist so we could steal their technology.
-I'd make baseball season year-round.

Gigi (4): "Everyone has to wear dresses."

Goldie (2): "Baba?"

Recall Alert: Honda Recalls Several Models Due to Child Seat Defects

The National Traffic Highway Safety Administration has issued a recall alert for six Honda models from 2021 and 2022 due to center seat belt assembly issues. Effecting the 2021 Accord Sedan, Accord Hybrid, CR-V, Ridgeline, 2022 Insight and CR-V Hybrid vehicles, the recall addresses issue with the the automatic locking retractor on the second-row center seat belt assembly which can deactivate improperly and cause a child to be unsecured.

The recall impacts over 4,000 vehicles and according to Carscoops, the company became aware of the issue during a routine factory visit that found movement within the second row center seatbelt.

Honda plans to notify all affected customers via letter by Jan. 17, 2022 that will direct them to have the seatbelt assembly replaced at no cost by a dealer. In the meantime, anyone with questions can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138.

Give your wallet a much needed day off with these 10 fun activities in and nearby the District that won’t cost you a single dime. From smelling the roses to traveling back in time, there’s something for every frugal family member.

1. Sit Front Row

All summer long., REACH will be hosting a number of films, event and performances on the outdoor Millennium Stage and the price for admission is, you guessed it, free! There's opera, jazz, Indigenous dance...basically anything you can think of. For the perfect picnic, use the money you saved on tickets for a cool glass of wine and some nibbles at Victura Park.

2. Catch a Flight

Pint-size aviation buffs will love hanging out at Gravelly Point Park, which is conveniently situated just off of the George Washington Parkway. It's there where they're able to watch planes take off (right above their heads!) from Reagan National Airport. Pack a picnic or bring popcorn to make plane watching a serious spectator sport.

3. Smell the Roses

DC has a number of public gardens and parks that won't cost you a dime to visit. One of our absolute favorite's is Bishop's Garden at the National Cathedral. It's stocked with beautiful roses, fun exploring pathways, a tiny pond with goldfish and frogs, a shady stone gazebo, and a big open lawn to run around in or spread a picnic blanket on.

4. Meet a Working Artist

Stroll the halls of the Torpedo Factory, a former munitions factory turned art space. Creative kiddos get a sneak peek at any one of the 82 artists with working studios in the Factory. From painting to ceramics and fiber to printmaking, the creative types love to chat with families about their gigs. Bonus: There are elevators and wide hallways, making this ideal for strollers.

5. Spend a Day at a Museum

One of the biggest perks about living in the District is that many of the museums are federal institutions, which means admission is free. This includes the National Gallery of Art, Planet Word and the Smithsonian's museums (think: the kid-approved National Air and Space museum). Find one that the whole family will enjoy and go explore.

6. Up Your Insta Game

7. Hang with the Animals

Bring a stroller and lace up your sneakers to walk the 163-acre animal park. Home to popular exhibits such as the panda house, there are plenty of lesser-known must-see stops. For instance, there’s the Kids’ Farm, where llamas and cows are neighbors with rare breeds like San Clemente Island goats and Ossabaw Island hogs. Educational programs are available throughout the day and include Amazon fish feeding, elephant training and meetings with panda or ape keepers.

8. Travel Back in Time

Go back in time without spending a dime at this Fairfax County park. Dating back to 1726, the park imitates a 1920s through 1950s farm, including agricultural process, rural community life and landscape. In the Kidwell Farm area, check out horses, chickens, rabbits, sheep, goats, cows, pigs and their babies. Then, help a farmer milk a cow. Wagon and carousel rides are available seasonally for a small charge. In the Antique Equipment Shed, visitors can look at horse-drawn carriages and early farm equipment from 1900.

9. Stalk the Stars

Rock Creek Park is home to the only planetarium operated by the National Park Service, and it's free. On Wed., Sat. and Sun. nights, the image of the night sky is projected onto a large, dome-shaped ceiling. You'll hear more than one "coooool" coming from the kiddie corner.

24,000 Feet of Sweets Await at the New M&M’S Store

It’s officially time for a trip to the Mall of America: Mars Wrigley just opened it’s newest store! The 24,000 sq. ft. will open on May 1 and packs more excitement than a fresh bag of M&M’S.

M&M’S Mall of America store will feature free immersive experiences, digital downloads, personalization station, M&M’S, “Wall of Chocolate” and exclusive in-store merchandise. So where, in the vast land that is the Mall of America, can you find the store?

Head to Level 1, East near the Rotunda of Mall of America if you want to visit in person. Not close to Minnesota? You can visit virtually! Visit MMS.com to “walk” through the store and purchase M&M’S products using a 3-D virtual experience.

The second store to open in 2021, this M&M’s location offers unique experiences. Shoppers can check out M&M’S Sweet Moves and show their their personality through color, sound and movement and head to Peanut Peak to view the beauty of Minnesota.

This particular location also pays a special honor to Minnesota culture with decor that is unique to the region. The Mars Candy Factory was opened in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1920 and has a special place in the legacy of the company.

Forget about stale candy that’s sat on a store shelf for months. Now you can get Reese’s iconic peanut butter cups straight from the factory—and they come in a two-and-a-half pound pack! This means you can score super-fresh peanut butter and chocolate goodies galore.

Reese’s originally released its Direct from the Factory pack in October of 2020. The popular over-sized peanut butter and chocolate-y pick went over so well that the brand decided to bring back the box.

How can you order your very own box of peanut butter cups? The Reese’s Direct from the Factory 2.5 pound box is available right now for pre-order online from the Hershey’s Store. The multi-pound pack retails for $29.99.

Don’t wait to nab a Direct from the Factory box. According to the Hershey’s Store website, the packs are only available for a limited and time and are sure to sell out quickly. Orders are shipped when they become available in late March. Customers who order additional items along with the Direct from the Factory box should place each one separately. That is, unless you can wait a few weeks for your other Hershey’s treats.
