Costway has recalled three double stroller styles because they violate the Federal Standard for Carriages and Strollers. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall affects about 16,000 strollers and also poses fall, entrapment and strangulation hazards.

The strollers are being recalled because it has been found that a child’s body can fit in the opening between the activity tray and the seat bottom, where their head can become entrapped. Additionally, the strollers also pose a fall hazard because the crotch restraint creates too large of an opening between the seat bottom and the restraint itself.

The affected strollers include:

  • Model BB4476- Infant Double Stroller in red, black and gray
  • Model BB4613- Infant Double Stroller in black

Recall Alert: Toysmith Light-Up Magic Wands Recalled Due to Possible Choking Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced a recall for the Baby Trend Tango Mini Stroller due to a possible fall hazard.

A statement on Baby Trend’s website said, “At Baby Trend, safety is our #1 priority and we design, engineer, and test all our products with that in mind. As part of our rigorous process, we recently identified a potential safety issue.  Since we strongly stand by our safety priority, we have decided to voluntarily recall certain models of the Tango Mini Strollers. The recalled models, under excessive pressure, both hinge joints could release, allowing the stroller to collapse and pose a fall hazard to children.” If you have this stroller, read on for important recall information.

Recalled Product Description: Tango Mini Stroller

The current recall includes Baby Trend Tango Mini Strollers in the color/model number combinations Quartz Pink (Model Number ST31D09A), Sedona Gray (Model Number ST31D10A), Jet Black (Model Number ST31D11A) and Purest Blue (Model Number ST31D03A).

The strollers were sold from October 2019 through November 2019 for $100 to $120 in Target stores, on Target.com and on Amazon.

Why the Strollers Were Recalled

It’s possible for both hinge joints to release and collapse under pressure. This poses a potential fall hazard to a child seated in the stroller. As of now there are no reported injuries due to the recalled product.

How to Tell If Your Child’s Stroller Was Recalled

Look for the model number printed on the white sticker on the stroller’s leg. The model numbers recalled include ST31D09A,  ST31D10A, ST31D11A and ST31D03A.

What Parents Can Do

If you have the recalled stroller don’t use it. Contact Baby Trend immediately for a replacement or full refund. The current recall includes the DaVinci Bailey bassinet in gray, espresso, natural and white colors, all measuring 38 inches long by 20 inches wide and 30 inches high when fully assembled. It’s not just meat (so much meat lately) and cars that are subject to recalls lately: a recent IKEA ceiling light recall comes with a serious safety hazard that could impact your entire family—literally. Representatives from IKEA did not have a response to Red Tricycle’s request for comment.

The recalled product, the IKEA CALYPSPO ceiling lamp shade, can detach and fall. And obviously, that could cause an injury—especially when it’s a glass shade that could potentially fall from your ceiling. So what do you need to know about this lamp and its recall?

Photo: Courtesy of IKEA

IKEA CALYPSO Lamp Description

The current recall is only for IKEA’s CALYPSO ceiling lamp. The lamp has the article number 000.324.16 and a manufacturing date code between 1625 and 1744.

Why the Ceiling Lamp Was Recalled

Nineteen incident reports show that the glass shade can fall off the lamp’s base, injuring anyone standing under it (if it shatters or hits them). Of the 19 incidents in the United States, three resulted in an injury. According to IKEA’s recall, these injuries were minor.

How to Tell If Your Ceiling Lamp Is Part of the Recall

Do you have an IKEA CALYPSO ceiling lamp? Did you purchase it between Aug. 1, 2016 and July 2018? If you answered yes to both, check the article number and manufacturing date codes. You can find the date codes inside of the lamp shade. Remove the glass shade (very, very carefully) and check for date codes that are between 1625 and 1744.

What Can Parents Do

If you have the recalled product remove it from your ceiling immediately and return it to an IKEA store. The return does not require a receipt. Customers with the affected products are eligible for a full refund or a replacement product.
