Traveling with teens is a whole new ballgame. When the kids were little, you picked where you wanted to go, ensured there were activities the family would enjoy, and off you went. With teens, you’ll be better off consulting with them on activities and getting their buy-in before you book (or brace yourself for surliness later).

With that in mind, we’ve highlighted some places that we think teens will love, from the usual beach activities to off-the-beaten-path destinations. All the resorts listed below have accommodation options that are great for families traveling with teens and are ideal for multi-generational and group travel as well.

The Orlando area is a fun place for families with children to visit and it’s not just because of the reasons you may think. From Kissimmee to Winter Park, no matter if you’re looking to take the kids to see nature or hop in a go-cart to do something a little more fast-paced, there are plenty of fun things for families to do in Orlando that aren’t the theme parks. So save Walt Disney World for another visit and plan your itinerary below!

1. Go back to the times of lords and ladies and take in a dinner theater meal at Medieval Times in Kissimmee. You'll enjoy a four-course meal and watch knights engage in hand-to-hand combat, falcons fly, and horses prance as the Queen and her court watch. Don't forget to cheer loudly for your favorite knight in shining armor.

2. With four floors of exhibits and two theaters, the Orlando Science Center invites visitors in for some exploration, discovery, and fun. Covering a wide range of topics, including food science, dinosaurs, and sustainable living, the center welcomes even the youngest family members to learn more about the science around them.

3. Twenty-eight thousand square feet of 'edu-tainment' makes WonderWorks Orlando fun and educational, all at the same time. The six zones offer areas that show what it feels like to be in an earthquake, a glow-in-the-dark rope course, a giant piano you can play with your feet, and a section that explains how animals inspired Dr. Suess's imagination.

4. Have an adventurous family who's looking to get out on the water? Head to the Orlando Watersports Complex, where you can wakeboard and enjoy the waterpark. There's also an opportunity to take lessons from the experts. Afterward, head to the onsite restaurant to grab lunch and a smoothie.

5. If your family is into all things odd and spooky, Ripley's! Believe It Or Not! Orlando is a must-visit. Structured to look like a Florida sinkhole, 16 exhibit areas include weird Florida, sideshow exhibits, and other strange things you won't see anywhere but at Ripley's.

6. Indoor action is ready to be had at Andretti Indoor Karts and Games. Kids of all ages will enjoy racing in electric go-karts, competing in laser tag, or taking in 10 frames of bowling with a little flare.

7. Have budding artists in the family? Head to the Crayola Experience to funnel their creative juices. Kids can create melted wax art, experiment with color, sculpt with clay, and even create personalized boxes of crayons.

8. Have your kids always wanted to see an alligator live and in person? Take them to Gatorland! From the tiniest babies to rare albino gators, they have all types to see. There's also a petting zone, aviary area, and zip line to enjoy onsite.

9. Drive 25 minutes north of Orlando to see the animals and attractions at the Central Florida Zoo in Sanford. This smaller conservation center houses a wide variety of species, including lemurs, Florida black bears, rhinoceros, snakes, frogs, and bald eagles. There's also an aerial zipline course for the more adventurous members of the family.

10. Home to Florida's only 360-degree underwater tunnel, SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium allows families to see conservation in action. You can watch sharks, fish, and rescued sea turtles and you feel like you're in the middle of the ocean. There are also opportunities to touch sea life in the rockpool exhibit and watch the changing colors in the jellyfish wall.

11. Located about 20 minutes outside of Orlando, the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive allows you to observe local birds and alligators and learn how water levels affect the ecosystem. Audio clips at each stop give more history and context to what's there.

12. Wekiwa Springs State Park is just north of Orlando and is a great place to see the natural springs and enjoy nature. The clear springs are a natural attraction to both humans and wildlife year-round. Families can go for a swim, hike, ride bikes, or go birdwatching to spend the day.

13. Winter Park is built on a canal system around the area's lakes. See them up close on a clear kayaking tour to get an unobstructed view of what's below you while paddling past historical sites. You'll also see plenty of plants and animals native to the area.

14. Looking for an overall view of Orlando? Go up on a helicopter ride to see it from above. Fly by the area's key attractions and get an aerial tour of one of the most popular vacation spots in the country.

15. Take an airboat ride through Boggy Creek and discover an authentic Florida that doesn't exist in some areas anymore. Appropriate for children of all ages, the tour will showcase the tall grass areas home to alligators, egrets, and other wildlife. Afterward, head to the site's park, where you can feed baby alligators and see a replica of a Native American village.

16. Forty-eight acres in Winter Park showcase Mead Botanical Gardens. Free to enter, the gardens highlight plants native to the Central Florida area. There are also butterfly and community gardens to explore.

17. Downtown Orlando is home to Lake Eola Park, where families can take a one-mile stroll around the lake, rent swan paddle boats, view the live swans, or sit and enjoy the quiet of the park.

18. Families with young children crazy about the American Girl series can head to their store to pick up their newest friend or get their doll's hair done. Afterward, head to the American Girl Bistro for lunch or teatime to make the experience even more special.

19. Nature lovers can head to east Orlando to visit the University of Central Florida Arboretum. Self-guided and guided tours are available to learn more about the seven-acre park, which includes gardens, a greenhouse, plenty of planets, and biodiversity.

20. Put the family in eye-defying positions at the Museum of Illusions. Defy the laws of gravity, see yourself in infinity and shrink down to miniature through the art of illusion. Don't forget your camera to capture these fantastic images.

21. Ready to view Orlando from 400 feet in the air? The Wheel at ICON Park gives you a view of the city from an enclosed, air-conditioned capsule. You'll be able to see easy-to-identify parks and landmarks. Much more stable than a traditional Ferris wheel, The Wheel is great for family members of all ages.

22. Take the train fanatics in the family on Ride SunRail. With 16 stops in the metro Orlando area, you'll be able to hop on and off wherever you'd like and see plenty of attractions or grab a bite to eat in any of the cities you'd like to explore.

23. Up, up, and away! It's that easy for your family to be superheroes at iFLY Orlando. An indoor skydiving experience where instructors will teach you how to flip, roll and fly on your back, iFLY allows participants as young as three years old.

24. Covering 14,000 years of history in seven local counties, the Orlando History Center has permanent exhibits covering the cattle and citrus industry, African American history, pioneer living, and the rise of theme parks in Florida.

25. Into quirky landmarks? Visit the World's Largest McDonald's, which is in Orlando. Not your typical Mickey D's, this restaurant offers unique menu items such as cakes, pizza, and sandwiches, in addition to cheeseburgers and fries. There's also the World's Largest Playground and an arcade where kids can win prizes.

26. Your family will forget you're just minutes from downtown Orlando when you enter Leu Gardens. Located on 50 acres, the gardens allow visitors to enjoy plants suitable for the area's correct gardening zone. Keep an eye out for the many flowers, vines, and trees you'll encounter there.

27. Sports lovers will be thrilled to watch an Orlando City SC soccer match. With some of the most passionate fans in Major League Soccer, games are always lively and family-friendly.

28. Everyone loves a good carousel. So head to Carousel On The Promenade to be a kid, no matter your age. Pick the animal you want to ride on this 36-foot ride and then reach for the brass ring as you go around to the music.

29. Home to the world's largest obstacle park, Planet Obstacle in Lake Mary was created by two former Cirque du Soleil performers. With ropes courses, foam pits, a jump area, a trampoline basketball court, bumper cars, and a ninja warrior course, it's a great way to help kids get their energy out. There's also a toddler area so children two and under can join in on the fun.

30. Put on a pair of skates and roll to the music at Astro Skate. Each night has a theme to help get you in the mood. And they also offer lessons if rollerskating is new to the kids (or parents!).

31. Orlando Repertory Theatre is specifically geared toward young audiences, making it a great family excursion for smaller children. Located downtown, Orlando REP offers shows for children of all ages to enjoy.

32. Adults and children can discover more about art at the Crealdé School of Art in Winter Park. With a mission to make art readily accessible to everyone, the school has photographs, oral histories, a sculpture garden, and rotating exhibits.

33. Families that are into pop culture can't miss Madame Tussauds Orlando. This famous museum lets you get up close to take photos with Justice League heroes, Taylor Swift, and many other famous characters and celebrities lucky enough to have been reproduced in wax.

From mini mazes for little ones to mystery mazes you might never escape, these farms know how to do the fall season right

That’s why we’ve scouted out a few of the very best destination corn mazes in the country. From themes like “Hope” to mystery mazes and even haunted mazes, you and your super-sleuths will be left with a map and your navigation skills; can you make it out before closing time? Add on some leaf peeping and your fall dreams will come true.

Yesterland Farm | Canton, TX

Yesterland Farm is huge with lots to do after you conquered the regular three-acre corn maze during the day or the separate “Creepy Corn Maze” at night. In addition to the things you would expect to find here, they also have a bunch of unique attractions like the Cow Train, Santa's Runaway Sleigh Roller Coaster, the apple cannon, pig races, and more.

Dates: Sept. 17-Nov. 6 (weekends only, plus Fridays in October)

The big maze is 24 acres and includes several bridges, an underground tunnel, and a 28-foot cabin cruiser. Little ones will enjoy the shorter scenic maze that takes you through all the neat features of the big maze but without all the frustration. Billie Eilish is an award-winning singer and songwriter, and she also has Tourette’s Syndrome. The 20-year-old recently sat down with David Letterman for a new episode of his Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, and near the end the conversation turned towards Billie’s TS.

The topic came up as Billie experienced a tic, which took Letterman by surprise. But in his ever-gracious nature he asks the performer if it’s ok that they keep filming, as they will likely capture more tics on camera. “I don’t care,” she says.

She goes on to say that “I’m very happy talking about it…I really love answering questions about it because its very interesting and i’m incredibly confused by it and I don’t get it.” Admittedly, she shares that she gets offended when people respond to her tics and assume she’s trying to be funny when she isn’t.

Eilish was diagnosed with Tourette’s at age 11 after experiencing small tics throughout her childhood. Now as an adult she shares that most people likely wouldn’t notice her tics, that include wiggling an ear, raising her eyebrows and flexing certain arm and leg muscles. “For me, they’re very exhausting,” she tells Letterman.

She and Letterman discuss how she processed coming to terms with TS and how now it’s part of her. “I’ve made friends with it. So now, I’m pretty confident in it.” Eilish also shares that she doesn’t experience tics while she’s singing, performing or actively moving, like riding her horse or driving a go-kart, which the two do in the Netflix episode.

You can watch the entire 45-minute episode now as part of season four of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman only on Netflix.

Father’s Day is almost here. While you and the kids are busy cranking out a super sweet DIY card or thoughtful gift, we’ll work on finding fantastic Father’s Day activities to make your weekend special. Since we know the Dad’s Day vibe is all about having fun (and maybe a beer or a backyard barbecue), we’ve come up with 21 ways to honor the dads, grandpas, uncles and other father figures in your life with all things he loves to do. Here’s where to have a happy Father’s Day around Seattle with your top pop.

Father’s Day Weekend Festivals

via instagram

Festival season is in full swing. And over Father’s Day weekend there’s no shortage of outdoor fairs welcoming families around Seattle. Kick it off with the Fremont Fair happening Saturday and Sunday at the Center of the Universe. Over 300 vendors, art cars, beer gardens and let’s just say colorful parades make this one of the city’s most memorable events of the year.

Wash all the parading down with a frothy pint for Pop at the Washington Brewer’s Festival. Held at King County's Marymoor Park in Redmond, this festival is open to all ages on Saturday and Sunday (Friday night is reserved for the 21 & older crowd). Dad can go with his dad buddies on Friday night, and then you can go as a family on Saturday or Sunday for some fun. Kids under 12 are free, and they will love the root beer garden, face painting, balloon animals and inflatables (for an extra cost) that’ll keep them entertained all day long.

Father’s Day falls on Juneteenth this year. Combine your Father’s Day activities with a Juneteenth Celebration hosted by LANGSTON along the waterfront. Featuring local artists, a live DJ, food trucks and more, it’s a chance to honor Black excellence in Seattle. Keep that focus all weekend long when you visit Festival Sundiata Black Arts Fest at Seattle Center on Saturday. If Dad can think up an art form, it’ll be there, plus more, like a Children’s Village and intriguing exhibits at the Unspoken Truths Museum.

Art-loving dads will find tons of things to see and do at the annual Edmonds Arts Festival. In addition live entertainment, Dad can take in the juried gallery art exhibition and sale while the kids participate in hands-on art activities.

One last festival to put on your father’s radar is the Washington State Summer Con, happening all weekend long at the Mattress Firm Showplex on the state fairgrounds. Dress in your con best and take your real-life hero to meet some of his pop culture heroes.

Father’s Day Car Shows

Fathers day activities and ideas in seattle include a trip to see Reclaimed Rust at LeMay car museum
Allison Sutcliffe

Naturally, Father’s Day weekend is full of car shows—it’s really the only weekend they can get away with convincing the entire family to walk around ogling at cars! And lucky for dads who have the need for speed, there are a few ways to feed that need in the Seattle area over Father’s Day Weekend.

Dads on the south end of Seattle can flock to the Father's Day Car Show in downtown Burien, which will featuring vintage lean, mean, cruz’n machines. Expect vendors and food trucks where you can grab a little nibbly. Speaking of food, before or after the car show cruise by Strawberry Days at Town Square Park for lots of strawberry goodness, carnival games and live music.

Fenders on Front Street located in downtown Issaquah is great for dads on the Eastside. Stroll down Front Street oohing and ahhing at the collection of vintage and classic cars before grabbing a curbside seat to watch the Cruise to the Triple XXX at 3 p.m. There will live music, food trucks and family activities throughout the event. Also on the Eastside is the special Father’s Day Weekend Steam Train Ride through the Snoqualmie Valley.

Our last pick for car-loving dads is a trip to LeMay-America’s Car Museum in Tacoma to see Reclaimed Rust. These jaw-dropping cars are more works of art than anything. But for many dads, the fact that they’re part of Metallica frontman, James Hetfield’s collection will be the real draw here. Rock on!

Museum Events on Father’s Day

MoPOP

Black Panther. Do the Right Thing. Selma. These are just a few of the movie titles celebrated costume designed Ruth E. Carter has worked on. Take dad to see her fantastic creations at the Afrofuturism exhibit, opening at MoPOP over Father’s Day weekend. More than 60 of her costumes will be on display, so you can admire her attention to detail and undeniable talent up close. When you’re done, bring pop to the Sound Lab to jam together.

The Museum of Flight is honoring dads with free admission, making it the perfect place to go (even if you have to go to brunch first). The Museum is open from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. on Father’s Day, and a visit is especially a good idea if you have grandparents or family members in town to celebrate—it appeals to every age and you don’t have to be obsessed with planes to enjoy yourself here.

Father’s Day Activities on the Farm

via instagram

Thanks to an unseasonably cool spring, strawberry u-pick season was a bit delayed this year. Bad for farmers, but good for dads, as many of the area’s best u-pick farms open right before Father’s Day weekend. You can simply take dad strawberry picking and whip up something sweet with your ripe, red berries at home. Or you can bring dad to Baby Animals & Berries at Swans Trail Farms in Snohomish. Not only will kids get to cuddle the farms most adorable babies, but all of the playground perks will be open too—we’re talking giant slides, cow train rides, haymazes and more.

Outdoor Father’s Day Activities

Looking for other simple Seattle activities and places where dads love to go? Plan an impromptu outdoor adventure with your top pop. Sunday is a free day at Washington State Parks; the perfect time to seek out a summertime waterfall or find an urban trail to blaze. Nothing beats a stroll around South Lake Union and free pea pod boat rental, thanks to the Center for Wooden Boats or an afternoon in the sunshine exploring and picnicking at one of our favorite parks and playgrounds.

Good ‘ol Dad—between the make-your-stomach-hurt Dad jokes to taking us all over town to taste the best hot dogs LA has to offer, it’s time to show them how much we appreciate all that they do. And while Dad loves home made gifts as much as any of us, for some out-of-the-house fun, here are 27 epic ways to spend Father’s Day in and around LA.

If Dad's a Thrill-Seeker

Does Dad prefer zip-lining to Zoom? Parasailing to PTA meetings? Then take him to one of these thrill-seeking spots for the big day.

  • Hang-Gliding in Marina Del Rey: Windsports offers hang-gliding lessons off the dunes at Dockweiler Beach; Mini lessons are $99 (4 flights from the top of the dunes) while a full beach lesson (7 flights from the top) are $160. Or, if he's up for an even bigger thrill, he can strap himself into a glider and soar from the top of Kagel Mountain in the Angeles National Forest side by side with a professional instructor (prices start at $249). Of course you'll need to add the Go-Pro footage for $40 otherwise how else can he relive this experience?
  • Skydiving off the Coast: Want to cross off more boxes on your thrill-seeking bucket list? Skydive Coastal California will let you jump out of an airplane just off the coast of SoCal. Tandem jumps are $229 on weekdays, $299 on weekends.
  • Indoor Skydiving: If Dad's not up for real-life heights—but still wants the thrill of flying—iFly Hollywood has a vertical wind-tunnel waiting for him. Jump into a tunnel of air with an instructor and feel the thrill of skydiving without being 10,000 feet in the air. Prices start at $75.
  • Parasailing over the Ocean: Want to include the littles in the thrill? Dad can strap into a seat side-by-side with the kids while parasailing off the Marina Del Rey harbor. Rates start at $105 per person.
  • Zip-Lining as a Family: Has Dad always wanted to try zip-lining? Now's his chance! Zip with views of the ocean in Catalina ($139 per person during the spring and summer). If you want to make a whole weekend of it, here's our awesome guide to spending the weekend in Catalina.

If Dad's into Cars

Rodeo Drive

On your marks...get set...drive! For dads who love to put the pedal to the metal on the road, there's a special driving experience that will fit your budget.

  • The Rodeo Drive Car Show is one of the best car shows in the world, and it happens to take place in Beverly Hills every Father’s Day Weekend. The rally will begin around 9:30 a.m. and showcase fifty of the world’s finest, fastest and most unique automobiles before joining many more vehicles displayed on Rodeo Drive. The best viewing area for the rally will be along Beverly Drive between Sunset Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard. Event details.

  • Sunday Scoot: These cars may look cartoonish, but with its open-air design and motorcycle-like drive, they're sure to thrill every dad (and delight every kid). Choose from the one-hour "Adventure Ride" tour or the longer, 2-3 hour "Discover LA" tour that includes motoring through Griffith Park—there's even a stop at the merry-go-round! K1 Speed—which has nearby locations in Torrance, Thousand Oaks, Santa Clara, Burbank and Anaheim, offers a fun and fairly inexpensive way to get all those car-racing needs met. Prices start at $28 per person.

  • Porsche Lovers: If Dad has a preference for Porsches, the Porsche Experience Center in Carson offers drivers a variety of on-road, off-road and virtual experiences on its 1.3-mile track or its indoor Porsche driving simulators. Even better? The whole family can tag along, as the center has an adjacent cafe where kids can nosh on snacks or lunch while Dad gets his driving fix. Prices start at $450.
