Macklemore has a new music video coming out—and he tapped someone very special in his life to direct it

It’s been a minute since rapper Macklemore has been a huge force in the music scene. Since releasing his mega hit “Thrift Shop” in 2012, he’s had other things to focus on: namely, his growing family. But as his kids are getting older, Macklemore is getting back in the game—and keeping his family involved in the sweetest ways.

This week, Macklemore posted a video to his Instagram where he talks about his new song, “No Bad Days,” and his plans for its upcoming music video. He’s chatting with his 7-year-old daughter, Sloane, in the clip, and it has a twist ending: Macklemore asks Sloane to direct the music video.

“I’m a little bit nervous asking you this, if I’m being honest,” he can be seen saying to his daughter as the video begins. He goes on to talk about some producing work she’s done recently, saying, “You knew exactly what you wanted. I was so impressed with your work ethic; with your eye. I love your visual aesthetic—I absolutely love your style.”

From the video, you can tell Sloane still has no idea what’s up as her dad starts talking about how he’s been “trying to think of a music video for ‘No Bad Days.'” But she looks up at him and her face lights up as he says, “Crazy idea, if you don’t like it we don’t have to do it. ‘No Bad Days,’ music video … I need a director.”

Little Sloane then covers her mouth with her hand in shock before shouting, “Yes!” and throwing herself into her dad’s arms for a huge hug. And just like that, who’s cutting onions in here?

At the end of the video, Sloane is already putting on her director hat, as she turns to face the camera and hilariously says, “Action.” The music video for “No Bad Days” is set to debut on March 3, and we can already tell it’s going to be great, with this duo at the helm.

Sloane is one of three children Macklemore shares with his wife, Tricia Davis—they’re also parents to 4-year-old Colette and 1-year-old Hugo.

“You can’t move forward without being vulnerable.”

Jonah Hill has been making movies for quite some time, but his newest endeavor is perhaps the most personal project he will ever do. For his upcoming film, Stutz, the actor is taking viewers inside his therapy sessions with friend and psychiatrist, Phil Stutz.

“I’m just gonna acknowledge how odd this endeavor is: A patient making a movie about his therapist,” Hill says as he starts the trailer. “But my life has gotten immeasurably better as a result of working with you. If it worked for me, maybe it will work for other people.”

Hill has been more than open over the last few years about his mental health, choosing not to promote this very film in an effort to protect himself. Frankly, the trailer already speaks for the film itself, in our opinion.

Stutz not only shares how Hill has benefitted from his work in therapy, but also explores Stutz’s life and his visualization exercises, The Tools.

“As Hill sits down with Stutz for an unorthodox session that flips their typical doctor-patient dynamic, they bring The Tools to life in a humorous, vulnerable and ultimately therapeutic experience,” reads the Netflix description. “Featuring candid discussion of both Stutz’s and Hill’s personal mental health journeys, alongside the lighthearted banter of two friends from different generations, the film beautifully frames The Tools and the journey toward mental health in a manner that’s accessible to anyone — whether or not they are actively seeking help.”

Filmed in black and white, with Hill looking the most comfortable version of himself we’ve ever seen, Stutz appears to be groundbreaking in its honesty and authenticity. “How can I make a movie where I’m talking about people being vulnerable and working on their problems, and not be vulnerable myself?” says Hill.

Stutz drops on Netflix on Nov. 14.

The release marks the 20th anniversary of Aguilera’s Stripped album

It’s hard to believe it’s been two decades since we started listening to Christina Aguilera’s Beautiful, but the ballad continues to speak to millions. Now, the singer is re-releasing a video that brings the song to the current generation––and it’s beyond powerful.

“The original ”Beautiful’ video set out to bring awareness and a sense of compassion in the face of criticism,” Aguilera tweeted when releasing the video. “It still carries an important message to remember our core values outside of what’s being fed to us…to find a sense of balance and accepting ourselves for who we are.”

Unlike the first version, Aguilera does not appear in the video herself. However, her powerful voice carries viewers through a series of scenarios inspired by the incessant influences of social media today.

The video starts off with an onslaught of audio that is difficult to decipher, with young people mesmerized by their phones. Then viewers are shown a plethora of scenes that range from children getting their bodies marked up for cosmetic surgery and dressing alike to fit in, to finally breaking the pattern.

To say the message and images hit home, is an understatement.

The video ends with an important message and powerful imagery that shows blood leaking from a cell phone. “In the last 20 years, since ‘Stripped’ was first released, social media has transformed our relationship with our bodies and, in turn, our mental health. Research suggests that time spent on social networking sites is associated with body image issues, self-harm, and disordered eating in children and teens. This needs to change.”

Barbie’s newest doll pays homage to the Queen of Rock ‘n Roll

The Barbie Signature Music Series just got a new inductee: Tina Turner. The “Queen of Rock ‘n Roll” is the fifth artist to be inducted into the special series and in perfect timing with the 40th anniversary of her hit, What’s Love Got to Do With It.

To craft the perfect Tina tribute, the company brought on Barbie Principal Designer Bill Greening. “Let’s just say Tina has been on my wish list for a very long time,” he tells Mattel. “We started it right about the time she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

Greening made sure the new Barbie had all the details and is styled in an outfit straight from the music video for What’s Love Got to Do With It. Tina is outfitted in a black mini dress, a denim jacket, black pumps and of course, her signature hairstyle.

To bring the doll to life, Barbie and Greening worked with Tina herself. “She was very involved in the design process,” he says. “And the ‘What’s Love’ look was the choice right from the start.”

“I am honored to welcome my Barbie into the group of trailblazing women already represented and introduce more kids to my journey,” Reuters quotes Turner.

We’ve all come a long way since our boy band years—no one more so than the band members themselves! If you were reliving your glory days this past weekend by attending The Backstreet Boys concert at the Hollywood Bowl, you were treated to a look at the five-some in their updated roles as dads.

During the L.A. stop of their DNA World Tour, the band surprised fans with a special rendition of their hit, “No Place,” and invited their kids to sing along. There were plenty of kiddos between them, who could very well form their own band; the entourage included Brian Littrell’s son, Baylee; AJ McClean’s kids, Ava and Lyric; Nick Carter’s children, Odin and Saorise; Howie Dorough’s sons, James and Holden; and Kevin Richardson’s sons, Mason and Maxwell.

As the group began their song, their littles came out on stage. The Boys didn’t break their stride, singing directly to their own kids, many of which came out in matching black and red bomber jackets.

If you’re already a BSB fan, you’ll know that their music video for “No Place” is an homage to the band’s family life, complete with wives and kids. Having them on stage for the song live in concert just made sense!

After the song, Richardson shared, “These are our babies. Everybody in here, we all grew up together. Y’all have families, we have families. Thank you all for being a part of the Backstreet family going on 29 years, almost 30 years. Thank you so much. We love you, we appreciate you, and we’ve been a little busy as you can see.”

“We’re starting a whole new generation of Backstreet Boys fans—a supergroup,” said McClean. Can we come too?

Katy Perry and Jimmy Kimmel set out to achieve the unachievable: create a children’s song that will knock the most-watched music video of all time, “Baby Shark,” off its throne. On Monday, the duo collaborated to “doot doot” something about the catchy children’s song for the sake of all our sanity.

Pinkfong’s “Baby Shark” has racked up over 10 billion YouTube views since launching and has been the creative driver behind scores of new children’s product lines. Perry and Kimmel’s creation, dubbed “Toot Toot Poop!” has quite a challenge before it, but even if they don’t overcome the “Baby Shark” behemoth, parents everywhere appreciate their effort.

Kimmel lays the premise for his creative collaboration at the beginning of his show. “Those of you who are parents know the song “Baby Shark.” It is the most watched—and hated—YouTube video of all time.” Tired of being bullied and badgered by toddlers intent on singing the song over, and over, and over again, Kimmel decided to pull Perry in to create the next viral children’s songsation.

“Let’s think about key stuff that two year olds would really find interesting,” started Perry during the duo’s brainstorming studio sesh. Repetition and kid hot-topics, like dinos, farts, garbage trucks and food all got hashed-out on a white board. “Yum yum is a good one, right?” Kimmel said. “It causes all the hair on my body to stand up when I say the word ‘Yum Yum,’ but I think that’s good because the parents have to hate the song,” he added. “Nom nom” got thrown in the mix as Perry discovered that fart sounds really influenced the beat in a flatulent—and overwhelmingly positive—way. And just like that, a classic was born.

Instrumentally, the duo hit a roadblock when Perry mentioned she couldn’t play the piano—the only accompaniment in the studio—but they kept going and found the perfect “poop” key to play. Deciding early on to “Keep It Simple Stupid,” Kimmel suggested they cut the “simple” and just “Keep It Stupid.” As a result, they created a song that moves you (or, at least, describes the movement of your digestive system).

YouTube

“Clap your hands and stomp your feet/ Give me something good to eat,” Perry sings in the hyper-colored video featuring the unforgettable chorus, “Yum yum, nom nom, toot toot, poop!” Kimmel takes it from there, singing about what happens after the food hits your tongue. “First the food goes in your mouth/ Then it starts to travel south,” he sings, and the music video rises to the creative challenge with the pair floating down a cartoon esophagus into a stomach.

Chicken fingers, cheesy fries, pumpkin pancakes and chocolate pies fill the song, and if that wasn’t enough to keep it in your head, the chorus circles back to “Yum yum, nom nom, toot toot, poop!”—guaranteeing you will never. ever. get it out of your head.

Even celebrity singers aren’t exempt from the awkwardness that is explaining where a baby comes from to their kids. In a recent appearance on The View, Michael Bublé shared his kids response to the news that the family is expecting a fourth baby.

If you recall, Bublé told the world that their family was growing back in February when he released the music video for his song, “I’ll Never Not Love You.” The video felt more like a feature film as he and his wife, Luisiana Lopilato reenacted some of the movie industry’s most famous love scenes, with her pregnancy reveal at the end.

The Bublé kiddos, however, were told the happy news back on Christmas Eve. The couple sat down Noah, 8, Elias, 6 and Vida, 3 and told them “Mommy has a baby in her tummy and you’re going to have a little brother or sister.”

Eli was a little miffed at the news, asking his parents “Why didn’t you invite us to watch when you fell in love and you made the baby?” Cue the awkwardness! To see what he does, start the video below at about 3:30.

Bublé reacted like we all would “I still don’t know how to answer the question…They just know that mommies and daddies fall in love and they had the baby, so he just wants to know why he wasn’t invited.”

The remainder of the video is basically the charismatic crooner gushing about how much he loves his wife and being a dad. His newest album, Higher, is what he calls “a celebration of life.” Over the last several years, his family has gone through a lot, especially when his son was diagnosed with cancer at the age of three. Now he’s channeling his inner gratitude into his latest release.

Despite being famous, as a dad Bublé still deals with the same things us regular parents do. Especially when it comes to his kids love of Encanto:

As if we couldn’t love Michael Bublé any more, now we feel even more connected!

We’ll be Captain Obvious here but newsflash: Grammy-winner Michael Bublé is a romantic. Shocker, right? But if his newest music video for “I’ll Never Not Love You,” starring none other than his beautiful family—where they reveal wife Luisana Lopilato’s baby bump for the first time—doesn’t slay you, you might need to get your heart checked.

The singer and Lopilato are expecting their fourth baby together, and the big news is revealed as the final scene in a new music video in which they’ve recreated some of the most romantic scenes in cinematic history. We know. Why didn’t we think of that for our last baby news reveal?

Iconic sequences from movies like The Notebook, Love Actually and Titanic are depicted by the couple during the four-minute-long-video, followed by a scene where Bublé is met by his wife — who reveals her baby bump — and his three kids.

Go on. We did it too. Awwwwwww. It really is sweet, right?

On On Air with Ryan Seacrest Tuesday morning, Bublé shared “We’re so excited to get to tell people. What’s weird is getting all these messages yesterday and I haven’t answered one cousin,” he said. (Perhaps he should have called a couple of family members before the video dropped, but we get it. Life’s busy.) “So this will be the first time that I actually say these words, but yes, my wife and I are grateful to be expecting.”

Sons Noah, 8, and Elias, 6, plus daughter Vida, 3 are making room for the newest Bublé baby, and—you guessed it—the singer “would love to have as many as she (Lopilato) would let me have.”
