One of the tell-tale signs of great pizza in New York City is the lines, and DiFara Pizza has them. In fact, many trek to the original location in the Midwood section of Brooklyn to get the full experience. Although Roberta’s is a youngster compared to many of the other establishments on this list (it opened in Bushwick in 2008), many people have declared its pies as the best pizza in NYC. John’s of Bleecker Street
Famous for its comfortable, old-school ambiance, the charm of John’s is in its tile floors, tin ceilings, and wooden booths etched with the names of customers. Fun fact: this pizza joint was actually established in 1929 on Sullivan Street, until founder John Sasso lost his lease and dismantled the coal-fired brick oven of his shop and moved it to the restaurant’s current location. The Best Food Trucks in Atlanta 

If you’ve been snagging ham or pepperoni for easy meals during the holiday season, you’ll want to take a look at this recall. Alexander & Hornung, the business unit of Perdue Premium Meat Company, Inc. recently recalled 234,391 pounds of the fully cooked meat products due to potential listeria contamination. But in an important update, the recall has now expanded to 2,320,774 pounds of products.

The recall affects many different brands of ham, including lunch meat from Wellshire, spiral sliced ham from Garrett Valley Farms and Niman Ranch uncured ham. It also affects Five Star pepperoni and pepperoni sticks. You can see the full list of products and the associated dates here.

There have been no reports of associated illness but Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that mostly affects older adults, people with weakened immune systems and pregnant women and newborns. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, stiff neck and convulsions and the infection spreads from the gastrointestinal tract.

The original recall listed an establishment number of “EST. M10125” inside the USDA mark of inspection but check the updated info to see if a ham product in your fridge is now included.

Check your refrigerator or freezer if you think you might have purchased one of these products and throw it away if you find it. Because of American’s all-out love affair with the savory pie, Expensivity.com decided to find out the average price of cheese/plain and pepperoni pizza across the the United States to give hungry folks all the info they need to satisfy their cravings. Researchers not only discovered the cheapest pizza around, but they also found the average price by city and the density of pizzerias per person!

Some of the key findings were that the cheapest cheese pizza can be found in North Dakota and will only set you back $6.64. On the opposite end of the spectrum, a cheese pizza in Alaska means you’ll be forking over $9.21 per pie.

If you want to head to the city with the cheapest pizza, make a trip to Virginia Beach, or check out Rhode Island, the state with the most pizzerias per person!

The cutest charcuterie board in all the land is here for your May the Fourth festivities! Hormel brainstormed a delectable spread full of the cutest Star Wars-themed treats, and we’ve got the scoop on how to pull it off.

May the Fourth Board

  • For the Yoda eggs, combine guacamole with hard-cooked egg yolks and pipe into egg whites. Finish with baby cucumber slices and cut up raisins.
  • To make your light sabers, melt one cup of white chocolate chips and ½ cup of Skippy creamy peanut butter. Dip pretzel rods into the mixture, decorate with sprinkles and let dry in the fridge!
  • Chewbacca toasts! Spread Skippy creamy peanut butter on toast from a round loaf. Pipe chocolate icing on toast and finish with cut up mini marshmallows.
  • For the pizzas with “craters,” buy mini pizzas or make your own with English muffins, shredded cheese and Hormel pepperoni!
  • To create mini TIE fighters, make a cheese and cracker sandwich with a firm cheese, and hold together with a bit of cream cheese
  • Add some stars by using a cookie cutter for firmer lunchmeat (ham, salami, and pepperoni)
  • Your board wouldn’t be complete without a Star Destroyer. Spread peanut butter on a rice cake and add a mini popped rice cake as a super laser
  • For your blue milk, add a spot of food coloring to regular milk, or create a coconut milk smoothie with blueberries for a natural hue.

May 4 is also known as Star Wars Day, celebrating the beloved franchise from George Lucas. Fans picked the date to make a pun on the catchphrase “May the Force Be With You.”
