From the moment you find out you’re pregnant, many moms-to-be start to notice changes in their bodies. Morning sickness, thicker hair, even varicose veins are among the list of culprits that can show up and disappear. But what if they don’t? It turns out, your baby isn’t the only thing you’ll get from those nine grueling months—there are lots of body changes after pregnancy, too. These not-so-cuddly gifts may stick around long after your baby bump goes away. From wider hips to bigger feet, vision changes to sudden (or disappearing) allergies, many new moms will find these changes are part of their postpartum body.

Your Feet Grow

Your baby’s not the only one who's going to need new shoes. Many new moms add half a shoe size—or more—after pregnancy. Blame the hormone relaxin, which loosens the ligaments in your body to help prepare for birth (that pelvis has to widen, after all), which also causes the bones to spread in the feet.

Doctors say there is a chance your feet will go back to their old size after several months, but if your feet still feel cramped in your favorite shoes, it may be time to go shopping (as if you needed a better excuse).

Note: Call your doctor if your feet have swelled up suddenly, as this may be a sign of potentially dangerous preeclampsia or blood pressure changes.

Your Hips Get Wider

You know those glorious hips that widened to let your baby squeeze out into the world? They may never go back to the way they were (even if you had a C-section). Same goes for your rib cage, which also had to open up to make room for your growing child. For most women, these enlarged bones go back to their original place by about 18 weeks postpartum, but some women keep the extra girth permanently.

"My hips stayed permanently wider which was great for me because I had no shape before," said a Reddit user. "I was built like a teenaged boy, lol."

"My hips? Wider yes and not back to normal," said another mom. "But I have embraced it and now have a more hourglass figure with larger bust, slim waist and wide hips."

"I hope my hips get wider during pregnancy. Wide hips are beauty beautiful," said another.

Your Breasts Shrink

While pregnancy’s powerful hormones will likely bump your bosom up a few cup sizes, once your milk-making machines dry up, you may end up with smaller breasts than you had before you were pregnant. “You lose a lot of breast elasticity,” Los Angeles–based OB-GYN Pari Ghodsi told Health magazine. “They’re not as full as they once were.”

That said, some women report larger breasts after pregnancy (even after nursing), so it's anyone's guess where your post-baby bust will be.

I was a C pre-pregnancy, was a DD in my second trimester," said a Reddit user. "I never measured postpartum but they were pornographic while I was pumping, and then once I stopped pumping they vanished into thin air and I’ve got A’s now."

“After nursing 6+ years with four kids, they didn't shrink......just deflated,” said another. “I can go out braless bc I can tuck them into my damn waistband.”

"Once my son was eating adult food they went back down to one cup size larger than they were pre-pregnancy," said another.

Your Hair Changes Color, Curl, or Texture

Pregnancy packs a wallop on your hormones, with these changes wreaking havoc on your body all the way to the tips of your strands. Some steadfastly straight-haired mamas get suddenly wavy locks post-baby, while some women with curls may suddenly go straight. (And this is in addition to losing the lustrous hair you likely grew while your baby was cooking.)

Sometimes, the hair goes back to the way it was months later; some women have changed tresses forever. Whatever your look, embrace it as your new mom style.

"I'm Asian and had thick, pin-straight hair before pregnancy,” said one mom on Reddit. “After I gave birth, it went all frizzy/weird, curly but not actually curly; beachy waves, but not nice beachy waves. Like an insane lion that had a bomb go off next to his head.”

“Got my first grey eyebrow hair 7 months along,” said another mom. “Hair is def not the same.”

“My wife was blonde her entire life, and is now a brunette after giving birth to our son,” said another Reddit user. “It’s crazy!”

Your Periods Change

As if you didn’t endure enough down there, postpartum periods tend to be permanently heavier or more painful after pregnancy. According to the Cleveland Clinic, these changes may relate to a larger uterine cavity causing more endometrium (mucous lining the uterus) to shed.

But it’s not all bad news. Some women actually experience lighter, easier periods after childbirth.

“The bottom line is that periods can change after having a baby,” OB-GYN Diane Young said in this article. “If you are concerned about your periods, make an appointment with your OB-GYN. There are medical therapies to help.”

That Dark Line that Points to Your Nether-Regions May Not Go Away

Pregnancy doesn’t just change your shape; it also changes your skin. Take the linea nigra: It’s the dark line that appears during pregnancy and runs from the middle of your belly to your pubic bone. A common hyperpigmentation that develops mid-pregnancy, it usually fades about three months after childbirth, but it can stick around permanently (as can darkened areolas, which also happens during pregnancy).

If the line bothers you, talk to your doctor. While it can’t be removed completely, there are skin-lightening creams and laser treatments that could make it less noticeable.

Your Allergies Disappear… or You Suddenly Have New Ones

Do you suddenly have a perpetually runny nose? Did your lifelong allergy to celery suddenly cease? Hormones are to blame for that, too. In fact, pregnancy can cause all sorts of changes in your immune system, which can alter your sensitivity to allergens. Experts say the most common newly occurring post-pregnancy allergies include seasonal allergies, food sensitivities, and PUPPP rash, a skin condition characterized by small pink itchy bumps on the abdomen.

"Hormonal fluctuations impact your allergies because estrogen and progesterone have an impact on your mast cells (allergy cells)," allergist and immunologist Purvi Parikh of the Allergy and Asthma Network said in this Parents magazine article.

Pregnancy isn’t the only dramatic hormonal shift that can trigger allergies, he added. “New allergies can emerge during periods of significant hormonal shifts, including puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause.”

You Have Stretch Marks…in Places You Never Thought You Would

Stretch marks on the belly are a veritable right of passage into mommyhood. But stretch marks on the thighs? Breasts? Buttox? Sorry, but it’s a thing. Stretch marks—which appear as red, pink, or black lines (their color depends on your skin)—are actually small scars that happen when sudden weight gain  (i.e. your little miracle) tears the fibers of the skin. Up to 90 percent of pregnant women get them, with most common areas affected being the belly, thighs, hips, butt, and breasts. They can even happen in the upper arms and back.

And while you can’t get rid of (or prevent) stretch marks completely, most fade significantly after several months. In addition, there are some treatments—including chemical peels, lasers, radiofrequency, microdermabrasion, and microneedling— that may make them less noticeable.

My stretch marks are all over my legs!” said one Reddit user on this thread. “Nobody talks about this...my calves, thighs and hips got ‘em for sure. Interesting how everybody’s different.”

“I got zero stretchmarks until after I gave birth,” said another. “And then suddenly they were everywhere! Even behind my knees, under my arms, and on my pubic bone!”

Your Pelvic Floor Muscles Weaken

Sorry, but sneezing may never be the same. The strain of pregnancy and childbirth can weaken your pelvic floor muscles (those are the muscles that support the bladder, uterus, and bowel). This can cause mild to severe urinary incontinence or other pelvic floor disorders including problems related to your bowel or sexual functioning.

The good news? There are exercises you can do to improve things, with daily Kegels being your best first step. If you’re noticing excessive leaking—more than just a little squirt with a sneeze or “Oops” on the trampoline—you may want to talk to your gynecologist about regular physical therapy to improve symptoms (Don’t worry; it’s less embarrassing than it sounds).

Your Vision Changes

Ah, hormones—Is there any part of the body you don’t control? Apparently not. If you’re not seeing your ABCs like you used to, you’re not alone. Up to 20 percent of women experience vision changes after pregnancy, Optometrist Dr. Arian Fartash said on her website. This is because pregnancy hormones cause water retention, which can cause swelling in the eyes.

“Your feet don’t only swell, but your eyes can swell, too, and that makes your vision change,” Fartash said in her video blog, “Ask an Eye Doctor.” “These changes can stay until after you’re done breastfeeding—or it can stay until the rest of your life.” Consequently, Fartash recommends getting your eyes checked after pregnancy to see if you need a new prescription.

You Have Phantom Baby Kicks

Yes, phantom kicks are a thing. Your tummy may not be growing a baby anymore, but it’s not uncommon to feel those familiar baby flutters even long after childbirth. According to Texas OB-GYN Tiffany Woodus, phantom kicks are the perception of fetal movement in the abdomen weeks, months, or years after pregnancy has ended. And it's experienced by more women than you'd think.

Experts aren’t sure why women experience phantom kicks, but according to an online survey done in Australia, women who experience them do so for an average of 6.8 years postpartum, with one mom in the survey reporting phantom kicks up to 28 years later!

My daughter is 7 and I STILL get them!,” said a Mama in this thread.

It freaks me out every time. I'm so glad I saw this post, it's had me guessing a lot,” said another. “My son is nearly three and I've been getting them for the last 6 months. A part of me thinks it's my body teasing me because I do want a second now.”

“Same thing happens to me,” said another. “I even took a pregnancy test to confirm I'm not going crazy even though there was zero chance of pregnancy.”

Your Face Has Dark Spots All Over It

If your face looks splotchier than it did in your child-free days—or if you suddenly have a blanket of freckles all over your nose, you probably have melasma, a common condition caused by pregnancy hormones (it can also happen with the start of birth control pills). The condition, categorized by splotches or freckles of darker skin, usually occurs mainly on the cheeks, forehead, chin, and above the upper lip.

For some women, it goes away a few months after their baby is born (or after they stop taking the pill); for others, the change is permanent. But don’t despair: There are several treatments that may help, including lightening creams and laser light therapy.

A Final Note

While it may seem daunting to learn about all the uncomfortable or potentially permanent side effects of pregnancy, try to keep things in perspective: After all, you just added a human to the world. Those are battle scars you're earning!

And anyway—stretch marks, vision changes, and splotchy skin equals new baby, plus a lifetime of love and purpose. We'll take it.

Ahh, new motherhood. You go from dreaming of the day your baby will arrive to holding that tiny, wriggling bundle in your arms and thinking, “What the heck do I do now?” Hang tight! We’re here to help. We asked experienced moms to tell us one thing they wish they’d known when they first became parents, and they really delivered—from wisdom on sleep to life-changing self-care tips, and getting perspective on those intense early days. But the one thing they all agreed on is the most important of all: that you’re doing an amazing job.

Adjusting to Mom Life

“In the beginning, I wish I knew how to roll with it, not get frustrated, and that I would need lots of patience…. I was used to being in control and having some order to my life. My kids came into the picture and all of that was thrown out the window! Now they’ve broken me in and I roll with everything, but I remember that part being really hard for me.” — Kathy

“If I had a dime for every time I did something that I said I would never do when I was a know-it-all childless woman, I’d be rich.” — Jessie

“Do NOT let all the do’s & don’ts of parenting discourage you. As long as you keep your baby safe, healthy, and nurtured… you are doing a beautiful job. DON’T compare yourself to other moms! It’s not healthy!” — Ruthie

“I wish I had spent my time reading about postpartum rather than pregnancy books. During pregnancy, you have a doctor guiding you. But postpartum, you pretty much are on your own, and getting a counselor does not mean you are a bad parent.” — Reyna

“The most profound thing I heard and will never forget… Your baby was attached to you for 9 months. For the first 6 months of their life, they don’t actually realize they are still not a part of you! Love on that baby like they are still attached to you.” — Tara

“You will be a crazy emotional wreck (and a total a-hole at times) for the first ~6 months, but that’s okay because you just created another human being in your body.” — Sanaz

Getting Through Those Tough Moments

“I wish I had known that sometimes babies cry for no reason. They are not broken, and you didn’t do anything wrong. It will eventually get better; just breathe and try to comfort your new human!” — Melissa

“Take each stage as a stage. If things are really hard, just breathe. Your baby will hit a new milestone in a few weeks and things will change. The first year is like a book with all these mini-chapters, and you’ll be on to the next one before you realize it.” — Erin

“He isn’t GIVING you a hard time; he’s HAVING a hard time. (The wisest words I ever received from my mother-in-law.) It has helped me every single day of motherhood to keep their needs and moods in perspective.” — Elizabeth

“There are no mistakes, you learn as you go, and trust that you and your baby will figure it out and grow together. I thought I was so prepared with the books, asking mommy friends and relatives, and at the end of it, I just threw that all out and took those deep breaths and went with it.” — Sheilah

Breastfeeding: So Much Harder Than It Seems

“It’s okay to breastfeed and be comfortable enough to do so in public. Took until my third child to be able to do so and have no shame or embarrassment.” — Brittany

“Breastfeeding hurts in the beginning, and that’s normal. Imagine washing your calloused hands 30 minutes straight every 2 hours—they’d crack and bleed too! Your nipples are nowhere near as calloused as your hands, so be patient with yourself and baby because it’s a learning process.” — Jeni

“Don’t be discouraged or beat yourself up if your milk supply doesn’t come in like you want or expected. Or if your baby simply isn’t interested. Just keep trying and don’t give up… if that’s what you choose. And if it’s just not working for you and/or baby, then allow yourself to bottle-feed without the guilt!” — Jamie

Sleep: That Thing You Used to Do Whenever You Wanted

“Not all babies are wired to sleep through the night. I don’t sleep through the night, and neither does my kid. Professionals actually consider sleeping through the night to be 5 hours, not 8 or 12.” — Erin

“You will hear, ‘Sleep when the baby does,’ but for some of us, that is impossible. Ask for help and have a trusted hero [to] give you a few hours of sleep!” — Lauren

“You never know what you’re going to get. Try and rest as much as possible but don’t stress if you can’t. There is always the chance you get a sleep-through-the-night-early baby.” — Sarah

Getting Used to That Postpartum Body

“Your body will change. Some of those changes are permanent, some are fleeting, some of them hurt, some will take you months to notice. Embracing the changes—good and bad—is the best way to get through them. (I named my hemorrhoids…it felt better than crying every day… just saying.) And at the end of it all, you will be stronger than you ever knew possible. — Paige

“The hair loss! Not once during or after my pregnancy did anyone talk about the possible postpartum hair loss. I thought I was losing all of my hair.” — Madison

“I wish I had known that I would pee a little every time I sneezed for the rest of my life.” — Katie

The Importance of Self-Care

“It is okay to let baby cry for a couple minutes. It’s okay to shower and leave them in the crib even if they are crying (if they are crying, they are ALIVE!). And it’s okay to go out and leave baby home with dad. (All learned the hard way.)” — Bella

“Postpartum anxiety is real! Get help and don’t be ashamed. Sometimes, you can’t help how you think and feel. You’re not alone.” — Marisol

“Don’t underestimate the power of support. If you don’t have that built-in (family, friends), hire someone whose main focus is to support you.” — Jacquie

“Remember: Under 2 years, playdates aren’t for them, they’re for you.” — Liz

“YOUR health is still most important. Take care of your needs too.” — Morgan

“Have a good friend who you can call and cry about your actual life, but who you can call too and talk about how amazing your baby’s development is, and how proud you are.” — Tania

“Learn to program your coffeemaker. Such a great self-care thing to do at the end of the day to have something nice in the morning!” — Rachel

Leave The House During Those Early Days (Yes, Really!)

“Go out to dinners with your significant other/spouse and baby while they’re not mobile and sleep a lot. It feels daunting to go out in public with a newborn, but that’s when they’re the easiest! And you and your partner can keep the connection going!” — Haruko

“They’re easier when they don’t move. Like, a ton easier. You won’t realize how easy they were until they’re 2 and 3 and you’re pregnant again realizing you feel going to Disneyland seems so doable with a baby that doesn’t move. Life with a newborn seems so simple in retrospect.” — Jeni

What to Buy & What Not to Buy

“Get a simple high chair with no little nooks and crannies — like the IKEA high chair. It is so hard to clean the fancy five-position chairs.” — Sasha

“Don’t buy pajamas with buttons. They are a nightmare! Zippers will make life easier, especially for those diaper changes in the middle of the night.” — Carolyn

“Put Tucks or witch hazel pads in the fridge or freezer. All of your angry parts will thank you.” — Lesley

How Fast It Goes…

“Now that mine is 25 and my grandbaby is 4, the one thing I miss most is the sweet innocence when they are so small. That you are their entire world. Enjoy the cuddles, the softness of their voices, even their tears. It goes so quickly, and before you know it, they’re independent and more interested in everything BUT you.” — Lisa

“I wish I knew that it would be over in the blink of an eye. The first three years are so intense and hard on your marriage and on you mentally…. It feels boring and like you chose the wrong thing, but you aren’t supposed to admit that. So you smile and talk about how it is the best thing that ever happened to you. And it is. But some days you want to choose something else. And then it’s over. Then they eat their food and sleep through the night. They go to the potty and to school. Then those precious baby snuggles turn into a mommy who needs one more snuggle but the baby is too busy. The kids want to go on playdates and sleepovers. They want to spend Saturdays having sleepovers with friends and you are left shuttling them around and missing the days when you could coo at your sweet little baby. Don’t fast-forward. Don’t skip the moments. Don’t tune out and wonder where you’re meant to be or if there is something bigger out there for you. There’s not. This is it and it’s really, really short.” — Trish

Postpartum hair loss can be helped. Really.

Having a baby means a million and one changes. Whether it’s your schedule, your body, and literally everything in between, everything is totally turned on its head. Postpartum hair loss is a classic challenge for many, if not most, new moms, but until it’s actually happening to you, it’s hard to fully understand what the big deal is. But after having thick, luxurious hair during pregnancy (one of the bonuses), watching it thin back out, change texture or lose strength can be not-so-awesome.

But, rest assured you’re not alone. And, postpartum hair loss is such a common problem, there are definitely some solutions that are effective and accessible. No snake oil or empty promises here. These solutions are tried-and-true. Shampoos, styling products, concealers. They’re all here. We’ve gone through soooooo many options and have picked some of our favorites. They’re highly-rated, proven to work, and easy to get your hands on. Editor’s Note: Keep in mind, lots of good things take time. Don’t totally give up if you don’t see immediate improvement. Also, your results will vary. This is not intended to be considered medical advice. Ashley Graham shared a candid photo one year after giving birth to twins, showing her followers she continues to be 100 percent real about her body

Ashley Graham has never tried to hide any part of her body. As a model and body acceptance influencer, she’s led by example when it comes to loving and honoring your body, no matter what shape it takes. That’s especially true since Graham became a mom, and a recent post honoring her postpartum body is making waves on Instagram.

Graham shared the photo this week, which gives a close-up view of her squeezing her stomach with both hands. She chose not to add a caption, instead letting the image speak for itself.

“The realest one we know,” makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes wrote in the comments.

One of Graham’s fans added, “I wish I saw a post like this when I was younger. The impact of photos like these is substantial.”

It’s been just over a year since Graham welcomed her twin boys, Roman and Malachi. She and her husband, cinematographer Justin Ervin, also share a three-year-old son named Isaac.

The road to loving and honoring her body hasn’t always been easy for Graham, even though she makes it look that way. Last year, she penned a powerful essay for Glamour about how becoming a mom made her relationship with her body so much more “complex.”

“I am the person who has been shouting from the rooftops to you all, ‘Love the skin you’re in,'” she wrote at the time. “Yet for me, the births of my there children threw a lot of that out the window.”

She continued to say that after Isaac was born, she “obsessed over this 20 pounds” she had gained during her pregnancy.

“I tried to brush it off and would say to myself, ‘Girl, you still fine, who cares.’ I got a few stretch marks, and I had a few really good cry sessions over the stretch marks,'” Graham wrote. “Because even as a body advocate, I’ve learned it’s okay if the journey to love the skin you’re in is more complex than you could ever have imagined. Even now, if I’m completely honest, I go in waves. I am still not entirely comfortable in my body, no matter my own body positivity advocacy.”

Ashley Graham looks amazing in her bodycon dress

Ashley Graham continues to dish out confidence like it’s going out of style. The model and mom, who is not afraid to show off her postpartum body, hit up MTV’s Video Music Awards this weekend wearing a stunning black cut-out dress that didn’t hold anything back.

The bodycon dress was designed by Houghton and Graham tells Access Hollywood the style is “So hot. But my stretch marks are out and I’m like ‘Okay here we go stretch marks, let’s go! You know what? I’m gonna show it all off in the photos and in real life.”

Preach.

She went on to say that even though she has eight-month-old twins at home, she still feels “sexy and hot.” Not only does the model share twins Malachi and Roman with husband Justin Ervin, there’s also two-year-old big brother Isaac at home, too.

In typical Ashley fashion, she is inspiring women everywhere to love their bodies. One follower commented that Graham is an “Inspiration to all moms embrace your body. Because giving birth is the most beautiful thing and thank you for making our scares shine.”

TODAY also caught up with Graham on the red carpet who dished out even more body-positive sentiments. “I think that no matter the trend, just know that your body is in because our bodies are not a trend. And I’m a poet and I didn’t even know it.”

Mic drop.

Graham has been a beacon of confidence and self-love for years as she’s navigated the modeling world where she’s bucking traditional standards. Now as a mom, she continue to fight against unrealistic bounce back culture and encourages body acceptance.

She often thanks her body for all the hard work it’s done bringing three children into the world on Instagram, as well as sharing real life images as she takes on motherhood. Her newest foray at the VMA’s is just one more reason to love her.

Ashley Graham is known as a body positivity advocate and her latest message to women is no exception. The mom-of-three is just five months past having her twins, Roman and Malachi, and she wants to make sure every single woman knows the journey to “bouncing back” can sometimes mean not bouncing back at all.

“Posting this video for all the mamas who haven’t and may never ‘bounce back’ and for anyone who needs to be reminded that your body is beautiful in its realest form,” she wrote on Instagram. “This is my strong five-month-postpartum-been-pregnant-for-two-years body as it is. In hopes to further normalize all bodies in every and any stage of life.,” showcasing some of her Knix shapewear in the video.

The body positivity advocate recently shared details about her pregnancy and motherhood journey in an essay she penned for Glamour. In it, the 34-year-old shared her traumatic birth experience with her twins and talked openly about her postpartum body.

Graham said during her recovery at home, she realized she wouldn’t be “bouncing back” to work or in her skin for much longer than she’d planned. “I lay on that bed for four straight days. I couldn’t walk for a week. And I didn’t leave my house for nearly two months,” she said.

She continued: “Like so many women, what I went through with childbirth has reshaped my relationship with my body—and I say this knowing that I am the person who has been shouting from the rooftops to you all, ‘Love the skin you’re in.’ Yet for me, the births of all my three children threw a lot of that out of the window.”

It can be difficult to wrap your head around your own body once you’ve gone through a pregnancy and women often feel pressure to get back to a certain shape or size, forgetting they just grew a human in their bodies. The unrealistic expectations only amplify when a person, like Graham, is in the public eye. To have her and others speak up and say it’s ok to take time to heal, recover, and enjoy being a mom without worrying about how we look is refreshing and necessary.

“My body has changed so much,” she told PEOPLE earlier this year. “I have much more gratitude toward my body because of how much work it’s been through, but it has definitely taken time to, you know, look at my new body, and my postpartum body, and recognize it again.”

Anna Belenkiy is an amazing freelance illustrator and, thanks to her son who arrived last summer, now a mom. And like all new mothers, she’s in the throes of some major postpartum emotions (understandable as life has changed forever—plus, of course, hormones).

From sleeplessness that brings about anxiety and depression to overwhelming feelings of love, the artist is feeling it all and is channeling it into works of art that speak volumes. So far, she has reimagined four Disney princesses—Ariel, Belle, Mulan and Jasmine—as modern-day moms, and we are here for it.

Her first illustration came just two months after her son, Tommy, was born and shows an Ariel unlike we’ve seen before. Belenkiy created the portrait to represent postpartum anxiety and depression, both of which she experienced. After sharing her struggles, she gives a shout-out: “This post [is] dedicated to all the amazing and strong woman around the world [who are] suffering from postpartum anxiety and depression. You are real fighter[s].”

The next portrait shows an eye-glistening Belle holding baby. Inspired by a real moment Belenkiy had when coming to terms with her postpartum body, the illustration speaks to all moms. She captioned the image, “I started to cry after I realized that I never will be the previous me, I am [a] new version of myself thanks to my baby boy, and those stretching marks are my personal medal of valor.”

Belenkiy’s third illustration shows Mulan grappling with breastfeeding (and stretch marks, too!) and represents a personal struggle the artist had. “A[s] soon as I started to breastfeed I started to suffer from depression and negative feelings about myself, about my motherhood and my achievements.”

She explained feeling relief upon learning that her condition had a name—breastfeeding dysphoria—and the comments are filled with encouraging words from other moms who’d experienced the same thing.

The last illustration depicts a working Jasmine hugging her baby. Whether it’s getting ready to leave them behind or taking in their smell, which we missed all day at work, the image represents the internal struggle working moms experience on a daily basis. Belenkiy even shares that while she craves her son’s smell and touch all day, her job is “absolute rehab.”

As moms who grew up with Disney princesses, it does our hearts good to see them reimagined in such a relatable way. We hope this isn’t the last we see of Anna Belenkiy’s Disney moms.

Ashley Graham is having a moment. Not only did she just have twins, boys Roman and Malachi, earlier this year, but she decided to fully strip down just three-and-a-half months after their birth—for a billboard ad.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been naked on a billboard before,” she told PEOPLE of her decision to pose for Spanx’s new Silver Linings technology ad, a collection of all-white shorts and pants that offer “100% opacity.” But for Graham, it was something she had to see to believe.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cda5sUlrgv-/

“I didn’t believe it,” she said. “Then I had a fitting and I wore black granny panties on purpose, and sure enough, I put on the pants, I bent over in front of the mirror, and I screamed to my assistant, ‘You can’t see the underwear!'” Just one more reason why we love this woman.

For Graham, it was the first job she’s taken since having her twins, who joined big brother, Isaac, 2. “I’m taking it easy,” she shared. “I’m slowly getting back into work, and I’m picking and choosing very carefully. I don’t want to feel overwhelmed rushing back into work.”

Her decision to do the ad wasn’t an easy one, but she explained she’s happy with herself right where she is. “My body has changed so much,” she said. “I have much more gratitude toward my body because of how much work it’s been through, but it has definitely taken time to, you know, look at my new body, and my postpartum body, and recognize it again.”

Of course, before the shoot she “had a little talk with [herself] in the mirror,” as anyone who is about to shoot an ad naked would. “I said, ‘Everything’s gonna be okay. You look fantastic.'”

“We are thrilled to partner with Ashley on this collection because she exudes confidence and ease, something we could all use more of,” said Spanx president Kim Jones in a press release.

The billboard was unveiled in Los Angeles on Tuesday, where Graham posed fully nude, covered only by the Silver Linings fabric. That’s one way to get people’s eyes on a new product!

Oops she did it again: Ashley Graham shares another relatable post that every mom can get behind. The model and mom to three has been open and honest about her pregnancy and postpartum body since the birth of her first baby, and she’s not about to stop after having twins.

In a brand new Instagram post, Graham snapped three photos of herself and added the caption, “Hi, new tummy. We’ve been through a lot. Thank you. #3monthspostpartum.” Sans makeup and sporting comfy brief underwear, she shares near head-to-toe snaps of her body, stretch marks and all. The post has already garnered over 800k likes and tons of comments to boot.

Skiier Lindsey Vonn commented “Always beautiful inside and out,” while former UK model Jada Sezer chimed in with “Always so refreshing to see womens bodies raw, unfiltered and in all its glory 😍😍😍 You absolute beauty @ashleygraham.”

It’s been three months since Graham and husband Justin Ervin, who married in 2010, welcomed twins, Malachi and Roman. The duo joined big brother Isaac who is now two.

Ashley is part of a larger group of women trying to un-glamorize the postpartum period for women everywhere, bringing honesty and unfiltered photos to the forefront. Earlier this month, Olivia Munn shared her “snapback” body in an Instagram post where she was sporting her boyfriend’s clothes while grocery shopping. Kylie Jenner also shared last month about her postpartum struggles and that “it’s okay to not be okay.

From sporting adult diapers in the postpartum days, to leaky boobs while breastfeeding, no topic has been off limits for Graham since becoming a mom. In her recent campaign with Knix, the model reflects on how women “have to big big and strong. Strong enough to love ourselves when the world is telling us not to.”

If there was ever a candidate for role model for women and girls everywhere, Ashley Graham is at the top of our list.
