Amid performing some of her greatest hits—including “We Found Love,” “Where Have You Been,” “Diamonds,” and “Work”—RiRi also made a huge announcement: she’s pregnant with her second baby! Oh, and she casually announced it while suspended 60 feet in the air on a hanging platform. That’s just what you do when you’re an icon.
“I was like, ‘You sure? I’m three months postpartum. Should I be making major decisions like this right now? I might regret this,'” she said of being asked to do the Halftime Show. “When you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world—you can do anything…There’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all. It’s important for my son to see that.”
Needless to say, Rihanna killed it. And while the point of her performing on a 60-foot-high platform was to keep her off the grass on the field (LOL), there’s no denying that it also looked cool as hell. This is one pregnancy announcement that’s going to be tough for anyone to top—literally.
While we don’t know yet if their little boy was watching the show live (it may have been past a 9-month-old’s bedtime), A$AP Rocky was in the crowd, all smiles while he watched his lady do her thing.
“One thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone ‘that’s my mom'”
When Naomi Osaka withdrew from this year’s Australian Open, no one quite knew what to think. But it turns out it’s happy news for the tennis champion—just days later, she announced that she’s expecting her first child!
“Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023,” she wrote in the caption of a heartwarming Instagram post announcing the news. On the first slide, she shared a photo of a sonogram. On the next slide, she wrote a statement to her fans and supporters.
“The past few years have been interesting, to say the least, but I find that its the most challenging times in life that may be the most fun,” the 25-year-old star wrote. “These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I’ve dedicated my life to.”
Osaka continued, “I realize that life is so short, and I don’t take any moments for granted, every day is a new blessing and adventure. I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, ‘that’s my mom’, haha. 2023 will be a year that’ll be full of lessons for me, and I hope I’ll see you guys in the start of the next one cause I’ll be at Aus 2024.”
She ended her statement with a sweet message to her fans: “Love you all infinitely.”
Osaka included the statement in both English and Japanese. She also posted it to Twitter.

At the end of her statement, Osaka included a “sidenote” that contains some wisdom we can all take to heart.
“I don’t think there’s a perfectly correct path to take in life but I always felt that if you move forward with good intentions you’ll find your way eventually,” she wrote.
Osaka has been open about her struggles balancing her tennis career and her mental health, even sharing in 2021 that she was considering taking time away from the sport. While we’ll miss watching her play, we can’t wait to see this next chapter unfold for her.
Jessie J just emotionally revealed she’s expecting a rainbow baby after a miscarriage in 2021
Congratulations are in order for Jessie J! The “Price Tag” singer just revealed her pregnancy with a sweet, emotional video posted to Instagram set to her song “Sunflower.”
“I am so happy and terrified to finally share this,” Jessie wrote in the caption of the video, which showed her positive pregnancy test, a few shots of her growing bump, and other photos and videos from the journey so far. “Please be gentle with me 🫂 Honestly, ya girl just wants to ugly cry in public in a catsuit eating a chocolate-covered pickle with no questions asked 🤸🏻♂️”
This pregnancy comes after Jessie suffered a miscarriage just over a year ago, in November of 2021. Since then, she’s been open about the grief she’s experienced as she grappled with the decision of what to do next.
“When I was 16 years old, I wrote a list of things I wanted by the time I was 30. [First] thing on the list was to be a Mum,” the singer wrote in the caption of a now-deleted Instagram post last August. “Now I’m nearly 35 and some days the grief of losing a baby and it not being easy to have one, and wanting my life in that way to look completely different to what it looks like right now just overwhelms me.”
She continued, “I know it’s healthy and normal to have days of complete sadness and to honor all the feelings that come up, good and bad. The bad isn’t often at all and yes I could go through this moment right now today alone in private and usually do, but today I am here. Because I know thousands of people around the 🌎 feel just like I do.”
After all that heartbreak, there’s nothing Jessie J deserves more than happiness. Congratulations to this mom-to-be, and we hope she’s enjoying every moment of the journey.
Baby number two is Oscar Bennett Goldsmith, and he’s already going by a sweet nickname, Ozzie. He “arrived a little late but with much aplomb (and an easier/speedier delivery than his big brother, much to the delight of his parents),” reads her Instagram post. “Every adage is true: our hearts have doubled in size and the immediacy of the love is astounding. He is beyond words and we are so grateful for our family of four! 💓💓💓💓”
Moore likely mentioned the speedy birth of Ozzie since she was unable to have a medicated birth. The actress shared with TODAY that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and that her platelets are too low to receive an epidural for both her first and second pregnancy.
“It was awful. But I can do it one more time. I can climb that mountain again,” Moore said. “I wish medication was an option — just the idea of it being on the table is so nice. But we’ll just push forth like we did last time.”
Ozzie joins big brother, Gus, who Moore welcomed in February 2021. It was just in June that he helped the family announce that a new baby was on the way.
“One incredibly seminal chapter of my life just ended and the next one, as a mother of two, is about to start… and are we ever so deeply grateful and excited,” wrote Moore on her Instagram post. The caption accompanied a sweet photo of Gus sporting a “big brother” shirt.
The off-duty firefighter was actually involved in the accident herself, but stepped in to help a woman in need
Megan Warfield is both a career firefighter with Baltimore County and a Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Rescue & Marine (BQVFRM) member, so she knows how to handle an emergency. But even the 30-year-old, who was nine months pregnant at the time, didn’t see herself being at the center of a vehicle collision.
Warfield, who had been serving in an administrative capacity as she progressed through her pregnancy, was involved in an accident as a passenger one afternoon. On a recent appearance on TODAY, she recounted the situation.
“I started to climb in there with her, but then I was like, ‘What are you doing? You’re nine months pregnant,’” Warfield she says. “I ended up holding onto her to keep her in place because I wasn’t sure of her injuries at the time.
Warfield stayed by the woman’s side until Squad 213 could arrive to help extricate her from the vehicle, according to the BQVFRM Facebook page. Once the paramedics arrived (one of which was Warfield’s paramedic boyfriend), the firefighter finally decided to head to Johns Hopkins Hospital to get checked out.
According to TODAY, the accident ended up inducing labor and turned Warfield’s baby transverse. “I don’t know how I did what I did because the cramping was so bad,” Warfield said. “I must’ve just been running on adrenaline.”
From there, it was less than 24 hours until Megan welcomed her baby girl, Charlotte. Born on Oct. 4, she joins big siblings Ellie and Jameson.
Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Rescue & Marine took to Facebook to honor Warfield’s brave actions and said it best: “Since no good deed should go unrecognized, we wanted to highlight Megan’s heroic and selfess actions. Congratulations Momma Megan, Job Well Done”
The actress shared photos showing a cake with pink frosting, Pelphrey holding a baby onesie, the two kissing holding “papa bear” and “mama bear” mugs, a polaroid of Cuoco’s baby bump, and a slew of images showing positive pregnancy tests. It’s easy to say the duo both look elated.
Tom Pelphrey, of Ozark fame, also shared the happy news on his own Instagram account. “And then it was even MORE BETTER. 🎀🎀🎀. Love you more than ever @kaleycuoco ♥️🙏♥️”
Cuoco and Pelphrey first met at the Ozark premiere back in April. The became official in May and since then haven’t shied from sharing their love for each other on social media.
Now that the cat’s out of the bag (or rather, we know there’s a bun in the oven?), Cuoco is emptying her photo drafts like crazy to her Instagram Stories. Apparently, the mama-to-be experienced a fair amount of morning sickness and exhaustion, judging by the snap shots of her sneaking in naps in between film takes for her upcoming action film, Role Play.
Neither Cuoco or Pelphrey have revealed the big day––aka, due date––for when baby is expected. However, judging by the many posts since the announcement just yesterday, we’re guessing we’ll get to go along for the ride for months to come.
Hunter McGrady is going to be a mom for the second time. The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model shared the most adorable pregnancy announcement on Instagram, sharing the good news on Instagram with her fans.
The model, who is married to Brian Keys, showed a video of her finding out she was pregnant with a home test. Next to the video, McGrady wrote, “Well, i guess it’s time to share the news! Hudson is going to be a big brother!” She also said she and Keys “couldn’t be more excited to enter this new season of life in growing our family.”
McGrady graced the cover of Health’s January/February 2022 issue and talked about being a plus-size model. “I actually really love being called plus-size—I’m not ashamed of it.” I am pro-woman—if you want to be called plus-size, great! For me, now, I’m like, “Hell yeah, I’m a plus-size model.”
She also spoke about the ups and downs of being in the spotlight before and after pregnancy. “Maybe it’s because of the way society treats pregnant women. All of a sudden, people say you’re glowing and fabulous,” McGrady said. “And then postpartum happens, and everyone asks when you’re going to lose weight — there’s that whole bounce-back culture.”
The mom-of-one also talked about her response this time around. “I’m feeling all the emotions from excitement to nervous to giddy!” she said, adding that this pregnancy “has been wildly different than my pregnancy with Hudson.”
McGrady has been open about adjusting to life with kids. In an Instagram post last October, she talked about how she and her husband were transitioning to life as parents while still taking time to focus on one another. “Some days I miss the us that was able to just up and go to dinner spontaneously at 7pm, or could drive somewhere with no destination just to see where we end up,” she said. “We’re allowed to simultaneously mourn the past and be so wildly grateful for the present and the future without feeling guilty. I’m learning how to be a mama and still date my husband.”
Lucky for her fans, she’s planning on sharing more of this pregnancy. “Can’t wait to share this journey again with you guys over the next few months,” she wrote. “You all were so gracious and supportive during the last time.”
Sharing the news that you’re pregnant calls for some creativity. Check out these fun ways to tell your partner, besties, grandparents-to-be and social media about your big announcement.
Say It with Style Whether you had an "oops" or have been trying for years, telling your partner that you are expecting can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. If you don't trust yourself to tell your partner without crying or screaming in excitement, buy a pair of "Mommy and Daddy" shirts or mugs. We like this Mama Bear + Papa Bear mug set from Chalk Full of Love. YETI tumblers or coffee mugs are another great choice that will last. These will also be nice mementos to have as your child grows.
Sidekick on the Way Surprise your partner with a matching shirt and onesie to wear after the baby is born. If your partner has a special interest, get them a pair in a theme, like Batman and Robin. Or, leave no room for doubt about your roles with First Time Mom and First Time Dad shirts from PatPat. Grab a matching First Steps romper for your birth announcement that will double as a cute outfit once baby is born.
Surprise Some expectant moms want to catch their partner's reaction to the big news on camera. A professional photo shoot isn't necessary, but it can be fun to ask your partner to close his eyes then show him a chalkboard with the news "You're Going to Be a Daddy (again)!" while you have your camera rolling or are snapping away with your phone. Your partner's reaction will likely be priceless whether they are stunned, relieved, overjoyed or all three. Some moms-to-be get the video on the phone rolling and then lead their partner into a room with the big news displayed on a banner or posterboard. The video or photo can double as a pregnancy announcement on social media. Another fun way to surprise your partner is to whip out an ultrasound photo and wait for a reaction.
Surrogacy Some parents-to-be want to celebrate the role of surrogacy in becoming parents. Including a surrogate in a pregnancy announcement is a great way to honor the role someone else played in the creation of your family. Be creative and light-hearted by announcing "My Bun, Her Oven" or "No Bump but so Pumped!" like Alexandra French did on her Instagram account, @alexandrafrenchrealty; see image above.
Adoption Parents planning to adopt can share their news by letting the world know they were chosen to be the parents of a special little one. If travel is involved, share photos of the state or country where you will be going to meet your child with their expected date of arrival.
Single Parent If you feel like traditional pregnancy announcements don't work for you, try these: For a first child, share a letterboard that states "Mommy Is Excited to Meet Me" with a due date. If you already have a child, have them announce that they are ready to be a big sister or brother. Some creative captions you could include are "And Then There Were Two" or "Best Oops Ever."
Same-Sex Parents Same-sex parents may want to celebrate that their baby will have two mommies or daddies. Highlight your rainbow family by including "Love Makes a Family" or sharing a photo of a onesie that says "My Mommies Love Me."
Pregnancy After Struggle
Some pregnancies go exactly as planned. Others happen a little differently. Pregnancies that come after a loss or through IVF can be celebrated with their own unique twist.
Pregnancy After Loss Many parents of rainbow babies (babies born after a loss) like to honor the little one they lost when announcing their new arrival. This can be as subtle as incorporating a rainbow into a pregnancy announcement. Some parents also include a note thanking everyone who supported them through their difficult loss.
Pregnancy through Science Whether you share how you got pregnant is a personal decision. Some parents may choose to keep their use of assistive reproductive technology to themselves, while others publicly acknowledge the role of science in helping them become parents. You can tell the world how your baby came to be with a photo of a onesie stating "Made with a Little Love and a Little Science." Another way to highlight the role of science in a pregnancy announcement is to surround an ultrasound photo with syringes arranged in the shape of a heart.
Serve Pregnancy Delights Telling your best friends you are pregnant should be an event! Invite them over for a girl's night and watch their reaction when you serve them pickles and ice cream. Have some (non-alcoholic) bubbly on hand to celebrate once they figure out why you've served them such an odd feast. Another fun option is to order custom cookies like these adorable treats from @betsys_cookie_co, above.
Skip the Cocktails If you regularly go out for drinks with the girls or have a cocktail with dinner, changing your routine may raise some eyebrows. Be prepared with an epic mocktail order and let your friends know that will be your regular drink for the next nine months.
An Interesting Fact Once you are ready to spill the beans, tell your friends you want to show them something on your phone. Instead of pulling up another selfie, show them your pregnancy tracker app. Wait a moment for them to figure out what's going on, and then get ready for some massive hugs.
Gift with a Message Many grandparents love spoiling their grandchildren with presents. Gifts are also a great way to let your parents know about the big changes coming. Surprise your parents with a set of "Grandma" and "Grandpa" mugs. Or, watch their surprise as they unwrap a onesie that says "I'd Rather Be at Grandma's." Check out more awesome grandparent messages you can get from @fabricatedkeepsakes above.
Mother's Day Surprise If the timing is feasible, wait until Mother's Day or Father's Day to spring the news. If the baby you are announcing will be the first grandchild, buy a card meant for a grandmother or grandfather. Watch the grandparent-to-be's face as they work out why they got such a card! If the baby you are announcing is not the first grandchild, hide an ultrasound photo in a mother's day card and then have fun explaining when their special gift is due!
Sibling Secret If an older sibling is in the picture, let the big sibling-to-be share the news! Dress your older child in a "Big Brother" or "Big Sister" shirt for a visit or video call with their grandparents. Or, enlist your older child to make a big show of telling their grandparents the secret. Your older child will be thrilled to be a part of the big reveal.
Social Media
Social media is a low-effort way to spread the good news far and wide, and you'll want an eye-catching photo to stand out.
Movie Poster Even if you have limited photo-editing skills, you can come up with a unique and creative pregnancy announcement with a movie poster theme. Take a photo and then choose a tagline like "Meet the Parents" or "What's One More?" Incorporate your due date by typing "Coming This May" or "The Adventure Begins This December" at the bottom. If you don't trust your Photoshop skills, choose a customizable template from Etsy.
Say It with Balloons Social media is largely a visual medium, and not everyone reads the captions, so get creative with balloons that say it all. A foolproof way to get your news out is to use Mylar letter balloons that spell out "baby!" Enlist a friend to take a photo of you and your partner holding the balloons. If there is a sibling-to-be, include them! If you wait until you have at least a little baby bump, announcing your pregnancy by standing in profile in front of a bunch of balloons will help accentuate your beautiful belly and create a celebratory mood.
Plan Monthly Updates Social media is a great way to keep family and friends updated about your pregnancy. Many pregnancy trackers compare your baby to the size of a fruit every week. Share your news by letting your followers know your baby is currently the size of a poppy seed, bean or lemon. Keep up the theme every time you post pregnancy news.
Michelle Branch shared some exciting news yesterday––she’s expecting! The singer took to Instagram yesterday to share the news that she’s already got some cravings because a baby is on the way.
This will be the second child for Branch and her husband, Patrick Carney. The two share two-year-old son Rhys, along with Branch’s 16 year-old-son, Owen, from her first marriage.
While all baby news is exciting, this is particularly joyous for the couple who announced they experienced a miscarriage in Dec. 2020. New baby Carney is due in early 2022, but Branch hasn’t shared whether a baby brother or sister is joining the fam.
Actress Kirtsen Dunst recently revealed her second pregnancy in a stunning photo shoot for W magazine’s Directors Issue.
Photographed by Sofia Coppola, the pics of a pregnant Dunst feature the actress in swank designs from Valentino, Armani Privé and Rodarte. Fans of fashion and Dunst may remember her first pregnancy announcement—an artistic photo layout for Rodarte’s fall-winter 2018 line.
Dunst dished to W about her photo shoot for the magazine, saying, “Every shot was on the floor.” She continued, “I was like, ‘I can’t get up.’ I felt like Urkel.” The issue, which also includes non-pregnant actresses Rashida Jones and Elle Fanning, will debut Apr. 6.
