“The Addams Family” Is Getting a Creepy & Kooky Sequel

I see you doing it all.

I see you down on the floor helping your child get through a meltdown.

I see you exhausted in the night, as you wake up hourly to settle your child but then get up with them at 4 a.m. to start your day.

I see you longing for the diaper-free days as you continue to change your 7-year-old.

I see you feeding your child whatever they will willingly eat and be worried sick about their growth.

I see you at the pharmacy buying the stool softeners and probiotics because you’re desperate for your child to get relief.

I see you checking the emails late at night and trying to construct a response to the teacher about your child’s behaviors from the day.

I see you on the phone advocating and fighting for the supports and services that your child needs.

I see you covering the scratches on your arm because people will judge your child instead of offering to understand.

I see you worrying about your other children. I see you feeling guilty as you try to meet all the needs of every member of your family.

I see you desperate for a word, a sound….anything that will keep perpetuating hope.

I see you skipping meals because you’re so busy with appointments, cleaning and daily care that you forget to eat.

I see you trying to keep up with the dishes and laundry, homework and suppers.

I see you tired deep in your soul but still pushing forward, still showing up every single day.

I see you sitting through the therapies and appointments always doing what needs to be done for your child.

I see you praying hard for peace, comfort, progress and sleep.

I see you constantly completing paperwork for insurance wondering if it will ever end.

I see you dealing with family and friends who just don’t understand.

I see you crying silently in the shower because you’re stretched so thin trying to do it all.

I see you as the beautiful Mama that you are.

I see you showing up every day for your family.

I see your worries and fears for the future.

But most importantly:

I see your strength.

I see your dedication.

I see that you’re amazing.

I see that you’re doing a great job.

No one else can fill your shoes.

I see how much you love and how loved you are.

I see the difference that you’re making for your family.

You are everything.

You are enough.

I will always see you.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 7‑Eleven, Inc. will not celebrate 7‑Eleven Day, better known as July 11 (7/11), in stores this year. Instead, the convenience retailer is giving a special birthday gift of one million meals to Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the country.

slurpee

“At 7‑Eleven, our top priority is the safety of customers, Franchisees and employees,” said 7‑Eleven Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Marissa Jarratt. “Gathering nine million of our closest friends in stores on one day just didn’t feel right, but I am heartened that we now have the opportunity to help the communities and neighborhoods that have been the lifeline of our business since 1927.”

“The Feeding America network of food banks has been on the ground addressing the increased need in their communities,” said Lauren Biedron, vice president of corporate partnerships at Feeding America. “We are thankful for 7‑Eleven’s generous donation during this challenging time for many of our neighbors in need.”

7‑Eleven is still giving away free Slurpee drinks this summer. On Jul. 1, 7Rewards loyalty app members will receive one free medium Slurpee coupon in their account. The personalized offer is redeemable the entire month of July, allowing customers the opportunity to treat themselves when it’s convenient for them, while practicing physical distancing in stores. As a bonus, 7Rewards loyalty app members will find offers on yummy foods and beverages, like a Big Bite Hot Dog for just $1, from Jul. 1 to Jul. 12.

If you’re skipping the store altogether, you can still find birthday-worthy delivery deals on the 7NOW delivery app. From Jul. 7 to Jul. 11, whole pizzas are only $5 and a free Slurpee drink is redeemable with your order.

“For nearly two decades, July 11th has been the busiest day of the year for 7‑Eleven stores as millions of customers visit us to kick off summer with their favorite frozen drink” said Jarratt. “But this year, we have to make changes for the greater good. I hope you’ll join us for the in-person party next year.”

As the world continues to reconfigure everyday life in response to the pandemic, 7‑Eleven has enhanced its standards and procedures for hygiene, handwashing, sanitation, food handling and preparation in stores, including increased frequency of cleaning high-touch surfaces. All store associates are encouraged to wear masks and gloves when serving customers. Customers now have access to disposable gloves, tissues and sanitizer stations while shopping in stores.

As an extra precaution to help reinforce physical distancing and safer transactions, 7‑Eleven has installed sneeze guards and visual floor markers at the front sales counter. In addition,   7‑Eleven continues to offer contactless payment at participating stores at the register with Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Remember to bring your 7Rewards member account to the party. It’s the proprietary loyalty program in the 7‑Eleven app that gives customers the power to earn and redeem points on most purchases, as well as take advantage of offers, exclusive discounts and interactive features. The 7‑Eleven app is available for download on smartphones via the Apple App Store or via Google Play.

It’s that time of year––time for the annual Kardashian Christmas card! Usually known for its flashy style, this year’s holiday photoshoot proves to be much different than year’s past.

As the Kardashian clan grows, it looks like the fam will be taking pics of their own mini tribes this year. Kim released her newest and laid back holiday photo, captioning it as “The West Family Christmas Card 2019.” Keep scrolling to see this year’s Kardashian Christmas card—and some of our faves from over the years.

2019

The West photo shows the entire gang sitting in cozy clothes on the family stairs in coordinating sweatsuits. Not only is the photo a comfy departure from glitz and glam, it’s also the first time the entire West family has been photographed since the arrival of baby Psalm in May.

2018

The simple white motif puts all the focus on the kiddos—and while the fam is missing quite a few members, we still love how sweet and simple everyone looks. We give them a legit A for effort because we know how hard it can be the wrangle the fam this time of year.

2017

This year’s card was all about the moms and kids (not unlike this year), and we now understand while Kylie Jenner sat out because of that whole surprise pregnancy! This card was the family’s first after skipping 2016.

2015

North West and her cousins Penelope, Mason and Reign graced the simple card in 2015. Saint West was actually born on Dec. 5, but he’s not included in the card most likely because the photo was taken before his birth. This card came after skipping 2014.

2013

The Kardashian’s 2013 card was a lot to handle. The oversized photo, shot by artist David LaChapelle featured all the leading ladies, but was sans the guys, including Kanye West, Lamar Odom, Scott Disick and Rob Kardashian.

2012

The totally fun and nearly kid-free card from 2012 captured happier times, before the Kris and Caitlyn split and Lamar’s addiction struggles surfaced. We can’t help but love the natural-looking poses that celebrate the season.

2011

The Kardashian’s 2011 card was special because it was available in 3D! The flashy fam was all there, but notably missing was Kim’s husband at the time, Kris Humpries. The pair had just filed for divorce at the time.

2010

Baby Mason made his card debut in 2010 alongside dad Scott Disick. The glamorous card is what fans would come to expect for future Kardashian cards.

The economy is looking pretty good… if you happen to be a kid. A new study reveals that kids allowance is increasing at a faster rate than wages in America.

A recent survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) polled 1,002 U.S. adults on the subject of kids’ allowance. What exactly did it find?

The survey found that kids are taking in an average of $30 per week, which adds up to $1,500 a year. The average rate for hourly chores is $6.11, up 38 percent from 2016. Meanwhile, the average hourly pay rate for all Americans increased by just 10.5 percent ($25.43 in 2016 vs. $28.11 in 2019) according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

More than 4 in 5 Americans believe kids should receive an allowance, with 52 percent agreeing that every cent should be earned and linked to chores. While a quarter (27 percent) believes it should be partially earned and partially gifted. Two-thirds of American parents give their kids an allowance of some sort, while 75 percent said the most important purpose of providing an allowance to kids is to teach them about the value of money and financial responsibility. Unfortunately, the survey found that allowance money is rarely saved.

Luckily the AICPA has some advice for parents looking to teach their kids about the importance of savings. “Rather than giving your child money to spend freely, consider an allocation process that rewards them for both short- and long-term thinking. Encourage them to set aside a percentage of the money they earn each week for certain spending categories like outings with friends, short-term savings, and long-term savings such as a college fund. Encourage even more savings by offering to match their long-term savings stockpile dollar for dollar,” says David Almonte, CPA member of the AICPA Financial Literacy Commission.

It’s important to have an open dialogue with your kids about money as well. The more often you engage your kids in financial discussions, the more likely they are to learn.

“Let your child set their own goals and help guide them towards them. Along the way, teach the principles of saving and budgeting. If a new game console is on their want list, show them how to calculate the amount that needs to be saved each week to reach that goal. For instance, if they receive $30 a week, but want a $240 gaming system, remind them that their goal equals eight weeks of allowance. Then, if there is temptation to splurge on a spontaneous item, like candy in the check-out aisle, ask whether it fits into their budget. This will help teach how skipping short-term wants can help them reach their long-term goals,” advises Monica Sonnier, CPA member of the AICPA Financial Literacy Commission.

3 Ways Parents Can Ruin Kids With An Allowance

Should I Give My Kid a Virtual Allowance?

Buying the latest tech gadgets is anything but cheap. Still, technology has become a major part of modern life. Thus, it is practically impossible to live without it. However, if you are resourceful, there are a wide range of effective ways in which you can reduce the money you spend on gadgets. Get acquainted with five simple tips to do that.

Sell Your Old Devices

Before thinking about purchasing the latest iPhone or tablet, you should first think about selling or trading your old device, as there is a wide range of retailers that offer you this opportunity. The newer your gadget is, the more credit you can receive in exchange. You should consider opting for companies that offer credit in exchange, as there are others that typically provide users with gift cards. Another way you can earn money after your older device is selling it on eBay.

Determine Your Needs

Before considering updating your gadgets, you should determine the amount of storage space you genuinely need. This way, you won’t get tricked by a clever salesperson to purchase more than you need. Your gadget purchases ought to meet your individual requirements; there’s no reason to buy expensive gadgets if you don’t have use of it.

Consider Online Shopping

If you didn’t consider online shopping before, it’s time you did that. Shopping online offers you the possibility to browse for hours before deciding on a particular product and get acquainted with the price range, particular properties and everything you need to know about the gadget you have in mind. Even though it requires a lot of your patience, it’s significantly convenient as online shopping offers you a wide range of great deals and coupons you can take advantage of.

When Possible, Opt for Free Software

Whether you were aware of the fact that you can opt for free software or not, there is a wide range of online services that provide users with free, equally effective free services. This software offers the same functions without additional, exorbitant costs. Still, while this alternative is not always available, you should always browse for obtaining products that meet your needs for lower costs. Simply reimburse yourself with patience and start browsing online.

Consider Skipping the Extended Warranty

While some people consider extended warranty to be an official guarantee that their products will be protected for a longer amount of time, the truth is that the steep prices to extended warranty cost increasingly more than the amount of money you would pay in the worst case scenario where you have to fix your gadget. As a matter of fact, retailers make larger sums of money from selling extended warranty than from the product themselves. Most of your gadgets will work perfectly, and in case they break down, the amount of money you saved will imminently cover the possible expenses associated with repair. Skipping extended warranty will undoubtedly help you save money, that’s a given.

Grocery shopping without waiting in line is probably every mom’s dream—and now that dream might just come true as Amazon Go stores will reportedly open at 3,000 locations across the country. An Amazon spokesperson told Red Tricycle, “We don’t comment on rumors or speculation”—but here’s what we do know right now.

According to a Bloomberg report, Amazon plans to rapidly expand its cashier-less Amazon Go stores with 3,000 locations set to open by 2021. With four Amazon Go stores open already, the cashier-less store concept is still being fine-tuned as some locations feature mainly grab-and-go eats while others also have a small selection of grocery items. Despite the difference in offerings, the overall idea is to make a quick stop at the store fast and easy by eliminating the need to stand in line and pay.

Amazon Go shoppers simply use their Amazon smartphone apps to enter the store. Sensors on the shelves pick up data from what’s taken off the shelves and how much it costs. Paying is even easier as customers can pay via the app while they walk out of the store.

The only question that remains is where these new stores will be. Location is a major part of convenience, especially in major cities where limited parking and transportation are big factors. Skipping a line is a big plus for families, but not if you have to park a mile away. “Amazon Go already has no lines,” Jeff Lenard, vice president of National Association of Convenience Stores, told Bloomberg. “The key to success will be convenient locations. If it’s a quarter mile from where people are walking and biking, the novelty of the technology won’t matter. It’s too far away.”

Even so, the idea of having a truly grab-and-go shopping experience rolling out nationwide is exciting all the same.

Tahir is ready for an afternoon of high-flying fun at the Peachtree-Dekalb Airport park, followed by a trip to the Frosty Caboose for two scoops of fun. With his brightly colored shorts that hide the spills while keeping him stylish, and his cool canvas kicks, he’s ready for takeoff.

Coming Up Roses

Elena is cute and keeping it cool in a lightweight, sleeveless floral tank and navy cotton shorts, complete with pockets for the tinsel and treasure she finds during her bike rides through Piedmont Park. Flip flops are easy to kick off when she gets to the splash pad and is ready to cool her toes in the fountains.

Up for Adventure

Jamie races through his day, and doesn’t let the midday heat or the setting sun slow him down. Comfortable khaki shorts and a soft cotton t-shirt are perfect for exploring the banks of the Chattahoochee, and his slip-on, rubber-soled shoes keep his feet protected as he hops from rock to rock in the shallows near Island Ford. We’ve all got go-to books that both us and our kids enjoy, but reading Goodnight Moon every night can get a little repetitive. To add some excitement to your family’s reading routine, check out these adorable TouchThinkLearn board books from Chronicle Books and enjoy watching your little ones discover their new favorite bedtime story.

Written and illustrated by children’s author Xavier Deneux, these innovative TouchThinkLearn books (best for kids ages three and up) encourage hands-on, multi-dimensional learning through their simple raised shapes and scooped-out forms on opposite pages. By seeing the image, tracing its shape, and reading the words, little learners can master essential concepts while being entertained by the adorable images! As if these interactive books couldn’t get any better, TouchThinkLearn’s board books are extra durable, skipping fragile flaps, and they will last through tons of readings at home or at school.

In Colors, Deneux pairs colors and their everyday counterparts perfectly. The red apple, the brown bear, and the green caterpillar give easy examples so little ones can understand the colors as they read. In Opposites, each page depicts opposing pairs, like an empty and full fishbowl and outdoor and indoor bunnies, to illustrate the differences between the two. The cutouts are so creative that each opposite fits inside the other! We love the heavy elephant versus the light cloud…so simple and cute.

Our favorite part of these sweet stories? They’re simply adorable! Displaying cartoon animals, bright colors, and interesting shapes, your kids (and maybe you!) won’t be able to put them down.

TouchThinkLearn: Colors and TouchThinkLearn: Opposites cost $14.99 each and are available at chroniclebooks.com. Look out for the Shapes and Numbers editions coming in Spring 2014!
