You can totally still find everything you need, even a last-minute gift card for that niece you left off your list, at these stores

Picture this: it’s Christmas Day and just realized you forgot to get apples for the pie. Or, maybe you don’t celebrate Christmas and you just need to buy some milk. So, what do you do? Luckily there are a decent amount of grocery stores open on Christmas that can save your day. So where should you head when your entire family is just minutes away and you need something ASAP? We’ve compiled a list of convenience and grocery stores open on Christmas Day.

But first—the bad news. While there are several convenience and grocery stores open on Christmas, some of your go-to grocers will be closed for the holiday. Grocery stores giving their employees the day off include Aldi, Costco, Hy-Vee, Giant, Kroger (hours vary by location so check your local store to confirm), Publix, Stop & Shop, Target, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Wegman’s and Whole Foods.

Convenience and Grocery stores open on Christmas Day

  • 7-Eleven: Most locations are open 24 hours
  • Acme: most stores open at 7 a.m.
  • Albertsons: Most locations are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Bravo Supermarkets: Most locations will be operating with special hours
  • Cumberland Farms: Open from 7 a.m. to midnight

  • CVS: Most locations are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Pavilions: Most are open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Safeway: Some Safeway locations will be open on Christmas, so check your local store for hours
  • Sheetz: Open 24 hours
  • Starbucks: Not a grocery store, but if you need more caffeine to survive the day you can make a pit stop as most locations will maintain regular hours
  • Walgreens: Stores that are regularly open 24/7 will stay open on Christmas, and most other locations should stay open with reduced hours
  • Wawa: Most locations are open 24 hours
  • QuickChek
  • QuickTrip: Most are open on Christmas Day

Your local stores’ actual holiday hours may vary depending on where you live, so be sure to check before you head out.

The drink is back for it’s 19th season

PSL season is here! Starbucks has announced that your fave pumpkin spice goodies are officially back in cafes starting Tues. Aug. 30.

Strap on those boots and grab a scarf on your way out the door to grab your first Pumpkin Spice Latte with its signature pumpkin, clove, cinnamon and nutmeg flavors. Ok fine, yes, it’s still in the 90’s but we can dream.

Also returning for another year is the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, plus the Apple Crisp Macchiato. This year, the drink is made with oatmilk and Starbucks Blonde Espresso as the standard recipe, making it Starbucks’ first fall nondairy beverage.

Starbucks

Starbucks fall food menu items are also making a comeback. Be sure to grab a Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin, Pumpkin Scone or the Pumpkin Loaf (which is actually available all year long) and a sweet Owl Cake Pop.

If you’re picking up a pound of coffee, you’ll see new designs adorning each bag for the first time in 10 years. Each one tells the story about how that particular blend is made through vibrant colors and beautiful artistry.

Starbucks

Now for the good stuff: the MERCH. The fall season is also bringing a whole new lineup of water bottles, cold cups and hot cups with a festive feel.

Starbucks

Keep your eyes peeled as the limited edition cups that include a new orange Bling cup, periwinkle (it’s so on-trend this year) Kaleidescope cold cup, textured Rainforest water bottle, an ocean gradient mug, color changing cups and a six-pack fall hot cup set.

Starbucks

You may have to visit more than one location to find the cup of your choosing, as each cafe carries its own selection from the fall merchandise line. Don’t wait long, every year this limited edition collection sells out.

These funny first-day-of-school pictures will have you laughing into your (cold) coffee

Forget about the letterboard back-to-school school pictures, one mama has a genius first-day photo tradition of her own and her idea will make you laugh.

Leslie Brooks started her fabulously funny first-day of school photo shoots back in 2013 when her daughters were elementary school-aged. Now that her kiddos are teens and tweens, she’s made the pics into an annual event.

Brooks’ photos celebrate the freedom that back to school-time brings to parents, with scenes we all kind of dream about. From a relaxing doorstep massage to floating in the pool (on a unicorn while drinking a Starbucks Frap), Brooks’ pics totally nail the first-day vibe—from the mom’s perspective of course.

She’s not the only one who looks forward to the annual event. Her IG followers and friends wait anxiously to see what kind of picture Leslie and her crew will display each year. One commenter said “The most anticipated Instagram post of the year. We all look forward to the “First day of school” pic. You never let us down. 😂😂😂😂. Those faces. 😂😂😂😂😂”

So what do Brooks’ kiddos think of her annual photo shoots? The mom told Good Morning America, “The kids say to me all the time, ‘this is our awesome tradition.'” Brooks went on to add, “We have so much fun with it, they really have come to look forward to the pictures every year. They even started coming up with costume and prop ideas.” But is she really THAT excited to see them go? Not really. “I adore my children,” Brooks said. “Summers are awesome and I really don’t look forward to them going back to school. I miss them incredibly.”

Heading to Target with a tot in tow can be a blast for them; especially if everyone makes a pit stop for a cake pop (and a latte) at Starbucks. But for one lucky three-year-old, these two iconic stores took on a bigger role in her life. Read on to see how this little girl from Milwaukee got a big playroom makeover.

Target Playroom

Ariah, an adorable 3-year-old from Milwaukee, loves her trips to Target so much that her mom, Renèe Doby-Becht decided to create a shopper’s paradise in her playroom. Complete with a Target checkout station, stocked shelves, and even a pint-sized shopping cart, this retail wonderland even has its own Starbucks.

Target Playroom

Doby-Becht did not expect the photos of Ariah’s playroom to go viral when she posted them on Facebook.

Target Playroom

“Ariah’s favorite store is Target and of course Starbucks are in most Target stores. Although this gift was really late, I wanted to do something different for Christmas this year,” Doby-Becht wrote in the post.

Target Playroom

Since Doby-Becht shared the photos a little over a week ago, the post on her personal Facebook page has gotten more than 5,000 comments and over 9,000 reactions and shares.

OREO Is Releasing a Tiramisu-Flavored Cookie & Goodbye New Year’s Resolutions

Whelp we’ve made it to Christmas. It’s the time of year where one’s heart should grow three sizes and goodwill should be sprinkled like the curse words you use while trying to find the last-minute gift that your child decided was the gift of the year that you did not buy.

This is also the time of year where grief hits me hard. We recently sat down with our eager three-year-old and asked her what she hopes Santa will bring her. It was a complete fail as her belief in St. Nick is so pure this year her response was: “He knows what I want.” I want to be like, he really doesn’t so if you can help us so we don’t have the repeat of last year—where she asked numerous times who got her this? And then her famous, “Well I don’t like it.”

She keeps us on our toes so we have a backup fund labeled “Vivi” if she decides to give us a list.

But then there is my sweet seven-year-old boy Whit. He doesn’t communicate in the conventional way. I always think of the song from Bandaid “Does he know it’s Christmas time at all?!”

This year, for the first time ever, he marveled at the tree. We’ve tried to set up pictures in hopes of getting some kind of idea of what he wants for Christmas. I’m usually not an organized Christmas shopper. My husband and I have been known to run to Target on Christmas Eve for a last-minute Christmas gift or ten.

I think Whit’s not caring has given me this, “What’s the point attitude.” As I load a virtual cart with things, I think, “Will this be the year?! Will this be the time he acknowledges a gift and plays with it properly?!” Usually, it’s a no and there is always a twinge of disappointment. We have a closet full of gifts we thought would work but have backfired horribly.

Why do we keep them you may be asking? Because as a mom I have this mindset that there is always next year. There’s always next year to try Santa again. There’s always next year to get a Christmas list from Whit. There’s always next year. Then my mind wanders to what if there isn’t ever a year where he cares? What if all the Christmas buying, and therapy to help Whit process any celebration is all done in vain because I’m the mom who can’t let go and accept our reality? I get that way when people ask us for a Christmas list for Whit. He’s possibly into LEGOs, he seems to like to watch us attempt to put them together.

This is the first year that our 3-year-old is 100% sold on Christmas and I’m living up every moment of it but at the same time hoping and praying that maybe this will be the year that Whitman will open a gift, be excited, acknowledge us and play with it. I know that’s a huge hope—I’d take any of that sequence in a heartbeat. We are building our three-year-old a Target and Starbucks for our playroom. While ordering all the supplies and in my excitement, my husband stopped me and said: “I don’t want to ruin this for you but what about Whit?!” I tried to convince him that Whit has been showing interest in pretend play with his sister so fingers crossed. I added a few extra gifts for Whit to keep it even in hopes that maybe this will the year.

So here’s to the mom’s and dad’s who are feeling this too. May this be the year our kids surprise us in the best way, especially in a time where we are told to be happy but we grieve the loss of childhood traditions. May we find new holiday traditions that work for us. It’s not about the presents, I know, but sometimes it feels like it is. It’s about the love we have for each other and a reminder of how far we come in the last year even in the midst of a global pandemic. May this be the year of letting go, seeing the good, and having a little bit of hope.

So is there trick to getting your red cup? While you can go the traditional route of placing your order at your corner Starbucks, you can also get your cup by doing a mobile order and pickup, curbside pickup and through delivery on Uber Eats which may cut down on the mad dash.
