New moms aren’t your average giftees. New schedules, new workday routines, and a whole new person make your usual go-to Mother’s Day gifts a little less reliable. Maybe a gift card for a night out is a little too soon, or a book might sit on the nightstand unread for months as their new family member gets acquainted. You’ll also want to skip any presents that are also kinda for the baby (a new breast pump is cool and appreciated, but not today). Simple, right? No worries. That’s why we’re here.

We’ve put together a guide that makes picking out the best gifts easy. Whether she’s your wife, friend, sister, daughter, coworker, or another loved one, these thoughtful and helpful presents are fantastic on their own, or combined with goodies for the new little one. Or, snag a few that she’ll love from this list and put together a sure-to-be-appreciated box or basket. Whatever you choose, these Mother’s Day gifts for new moms make sure they feel loved!

Perfect for Father’s Day (not to mention a baby shower or to announce your new arrival to the dad-to-be), this new dad survival kit is both fun and functional. A first-time dad kit will help him settle into his parenting role and get him excited about all the good times to come. Read on for how to create one for your man.

30 Watt

Keep Him Organized
If sleep deprivation has your man losing his glasses, this plant holder has a nose and ears to keep his frames at the ready for late-night feedings or early-morning walks. Use a marker to personalize it or leave him notes about what an awesome dad he is.

Available at 30watt.com, $16.

The Dad Hoodie

Gear Up for Outings
For the dude who travels light or doesn’t want to share a diaper bag, the Dad Hoodie (shown above) keeps your man looking cool while packing all the essentials he and your baby need. This soft hoodie sports mesh pockets that hold diapers, bottles, snacks and more without weighing down dad or making him look too bulky. Comes in four colors (heather gray, navy, charcoal and black) and five sizes (small-XX large); also comes as a vest in black ($78).

Available at thedadhoodie.com, $95.

Make Him Mr. Fix It
A Swiss army knife will keep him ready for any occasion or issue that comes up, from filing baby's sharp nails to cutting tags off new clothes.

miapowterr via Pixabay

Stock Up on the Basics…
Get Dad prepped for diaper-changing duty with a portable changing pad, diaper cream and his own stash of wipes and diapers. Look for a pad in neutral colors he’ll feel comfortable wearing, like the parent-favorite Pronto Signature Changing Station from Skip Hop.

And Then Make Him Laugh
Keep Daddy laughing through the biggest diaper blowouts with a few humorous (and inexpensive) accessories, like rubber gloves, a surgical mask, tongs and a drop sheet.

young dad with baby

Show Him Love
Pick a onesie with a cute father-related saying splashed across the front, or buy a pint-size jersey from his favorite sports team. Baby and Daddy can have some quality time bonding during the games.

Silence Is Golden
Every new parent needs the occasional break. A pair of soundproof headphones will allow the new dad to tune it all out for a bit to recharge.

parent and child reading in bed

Read Between the Lines
Foster some daddy & baby bonding time by buying picture books and board books with him in mind. Kisses for Daddy by Frances Watts and David Legge, Daddy Hugs by Karen Katz and I Love My Daddy Because… by Laurel Porter-Gaylord are a few titles sure to become favorites for both of them.

Chocolate Treat
Add your favorite chocolate bar to your daddy survival kit with a label reading: “In case of emergency, give to Mommy.” You’ll get a laugh from your man and a good snack when you need it!

Smell the Coffee
Stock your daddy survival kit with his favorite caffeinated beverage or gift cards to his regular coffee shop where he can grab a cup to refuel.

A Bite to Eat
A man can’t live on caffeine alone, so be sure to include a nice selection of snacks. Make it salty or sweet, or some of each, for those times when he’s too wiped to whip up a meal. Snacks will keep him fueled up for helping out with all those middle-of-the-night feedings.

Welly Bottle

And Speaking of Beverages…
Buy him a mug that says “Number 1 Dad” or “Super Dad” or do good with the stylish Welly Bottle (shown above). The company donates a portion of profits to bringing clean water to those in need. This sleek bottle comes with a removable infuser for brewing tea or infusing fruit into his water. It keeps drinks cold for 24 hours or hot for 14 hours.

Available on wellybottle.com.

Wrap It Up
Wrap up your gifts in the Dad Hoodie shown above, a sturdy plastic bucket or a laundry basket, all containers he’ll be able to use in his adventures in fatherhood.

13 Ways to Tell You’ve Got a Super Dad at Home

New Dads Rule: DIY Gifts for His First Father’s Day

Original Ways to Celebrate a First Father’s Day

What’s for lunch? Staying at home, confined, is a challenge for every family’s daily routine, starting with mealtime. The good news is that the Teuko community is your ally to stay inspired and motivated when it comes to feeding your tribe. As you are juggling your new reality, we’re happy to remind and share with you 3 simple tricks that can save you time and your sanity!

1. Get Inspired & See What Others Do Daily on Teuko
Teuko is the one place where you can find inspiration by browsing ideas from other parents, but not only. Don’t forget to check the School Menus category: you will find there simple and healthy kids’ lunch menus designed and validated by professionals for schools in Paris, San Francisco, or Tokyo!

Browse with your kids, choose together what inspires you the most, or search for ideas by an ingredient you like, and hopefully, you’ll keep on being inspired for a happy and healthy lunchtime.

2. Build Your Pantry “Survival Kit”
If you’re lucky enough to get some food items from your supermarket, you may be interested to know what simple food can make the difference in your pantry and your freezer. From cans, sauces, and frozen foods… these staples are indispensable in the pantry to prevent these days when “there is nothing left at home.”

3. Make the Most of Meal Kits
When the food supply is short, or your motivation low, meal kits stay a reliable resource to consider. The good news is that companies are developing new delivery services with the kids’ specific needs in mind. If they are convenient, we also like the fact that these kits can make it easier and more fun to get your kids to discover and try new ingredients and new recipes from home.

We hope that these few tips are useful for you. If so, please share them with members of your families or friends as they are probably facing the same challenges.

This post originally appeared on Teuko Blog.

Teuko is the first platform that empowers families to simplify lunch packing. Using Teuko, they can find and share kid-approved lunchbox ideas, recipes, and tips, all in one place. Teuko is transforming the lunch packing experience by boosting inspiration and motivation week after week.

New year, new resolutions. What we learned from the last year is that we definitively need to release the pressure, and focus on simple things. Physical and mental health comes first for a happy family, and this should be enough to focus on this year.

Here are 3 simple steps that can truly make 2021 a year full of achievements.

1. Resolve to eat better. Start by shopping for better ingredients. Cooking up healthy meals for your family goes hand in hand with having the right ingredients in your kitchen. Stock your pantry, your fridge, and your freezer with healthy and delicious food items that will prevent you from eating junk food missing time, or inspiration. A good habit is to favor real and simple foods, with no nutrition labels, or to look for short ingredient lists: avoid items that contain more than five ingredients, artificial ingredients, or ingredients you can’t understand.  Check out our pantry survival kit for ideas if you don’t know where to get started.

2. Accept to spend that little extra time in the kitchen. See this as a learning opportunity to help you get faster at food prep and more inspired over time. Start with simplifying mealtime by rotating very easy and versatile recipes or cooking methods of the same food. Welcome gratins, savory cakes, soups, salads, and tarts!

No doubt about it, getting your kid to spill the beans about her day can be a challenge. But, what if there was a fun way to get her to open up and develop emotional intelligence at the same time? Enter A Penny for Your Thoughts: A Survival Kit for Kids & Adults. Read on to discover why this unique set of playing cards is so much more than just a fun game.

What It Is
This creative, interactive communication game comes with 80 hand-drawn cards divided up into a mix of emotions, locations, characters and reactions. Players roll the dice, and then, depending on the color, select cards from each pile and match up an emotion with a location, a character and a response (for example: I felt frustrated/at a friend/at the park/I can take a few deep breaths). Then, each player shares his or her story and talks about the positive responses that can be used the next time the same situation occurs.

Best part? There’s no real right way to play this game because it’s all based on how your kiddo conveys his or her emotions. Your kid wants to collect four emotion cards? Great! She had the same emotion in two locations? Let’s talk about it. Penny for Your Thoughts is about getting your kids to open up, so it’s totally okay to play by your own rules.

Why Is It Important?
More than ever before, kids are having a hard time building SEL (social and emotional learning) skills. These are the skills that help people express and manage their feelings in a productive way. These are also the skills that help kids set and reach goals, make good decisions and learn empathy towards others. “We created this game to inspire and teach kids to communicate how they feel, what their fears and dreams are, who makes them laugh, and what makes them feel important or small,” says co-creator Janine McGraw.

The Fine Print
A Penny for Your Thoughts hit the market in late Feb. 2017. Order your own set here for $29.99.

How do you get your kids to open up and talk about what’s going on? Share with us in a Comment.
