There’s one universal truth in parenthood—there’s never enough time to make dinner. We’re always running someone to soccer practice, fighting giant piles of laundry, and trying to work a full day in between. The solution: 5-ingredient recipes that you can whip up in a flash. These easy meals are very kid-friendly, and mostly rely on items you’re likely to already have in your pantry so you won’t have to make a separate trip to the store (who has time for that?). We’ve left out some of the more obvious choices because we know you’re already a pro at grilled cheese, taco Tuesdays, quick eggs, and the like. Consider your meal plan done!

Creamy Tomato Tortellini with Pesto

The base for this filling dish is cheese-filled tortellini, which is pretty much the most kid-friendly pasta around. Add some mini meatballs or sliced pre-cooked sausage if you want to up the protein in this dish.

5-Ingredient Lemon Chicken with Asparagus

Pinch of Yum 5-ingredient lemon chicken and asparagus
Pinch of Yum

Whether you go with chicken thighs or chicken breasts, this recipe from Pinch of Yum is super flavorful and easy to make. The citrus from the lemon is mellowed out with honey to satisfy those picky palates.

Ground Turkey Lettuce Wraps

We love how flavorful these lettuce wraps are. Butter lettuce works best and you can serve it over rice for those picky ones in your family.

Easy Crockpot Ranch Chicken

If your kid isn’t a Ranch fan yet, now is the time to indoctrinate them. This 4-ingredient recipe from The Cookie Rookie makes kid-friendly chicken in a veg-free sauce, so you’re more likely to avoid the mealtime tantrums.

5-Ingredient Coconut Curry

5 ingredient coconut curry
Pinch of Yum

There’s something super comforting about this coconut curry from Pinch of Yum. It uses chickpeas instead of meat so that means it will come together super fast.

Paleo Gnocchi Bolognese

Your family won’t even know that you’re using Trader Joe’s cauliflower gnocchi as the base of this delicious dish.

5-Ingredient Zucchini Fritters

This recipe is a great way to use up your summer bounty of zucchini. We suggest cooking them on your electric griddle if you have one.

Pa Amb Tomàquet (aka Catalan Tomato Bread)

Any vehicle for including more ripe tomatoes in our lives is a must-try. Also, this bread looks like a fun way to get the kids in on the cooking action.

Garlic Butter Chicken and Brussels Sprouts

Not only does this recipe only have 5 ingredients, but it’s a one-pot wonder as well. Chicken thighs, Brussels sprouts, and garlic are the main players in this flavorful dish.

5-Ingredient Chili

5 ingredient chili Gimme Some Oven
Gimme Some Oven

We love a chili recipe that comes together in a flash. You can even sub in meatless crumbles if you’d like to make this recipe from Gimme Some Oven vegetarian.

5-Ingredient Trader Joe’s Branzino

This recipe uses three of our favorite TJs items: branzino, lemony arugula salad kit, and frozen country potatoes.

One-Pot Pasta

Kristine's Kitchen Blog one pot pasta
Kristine’s Kitchen Blog

One-pot meals are a weekday dinner staple, and this one from Kristine’s Kitchen Blog serves up sausage with pasta. Bonus: You don’t even need to drain the pasta as it cooks right in the sauce.

Lemon Butter Scallops

5 ingredient lemon butter scallops Damn Delicious
Damn Delicious

Head over to Damn Delicious to snag this recipe that cooks up quickly and is great paired with asparagus or broccoli.

Quick Duck Stir Fry

A stir fry is a great way to use up any veg that might be sitting neglected in the bottom of your fridge. This one uses duck, but you could easily sub in chicken if you prefer.

Instant Pot Short Rib Ragu

Pinch of Yum 5 ingredient short rib ragu
Pinch of Yum

Our advice for this full-of-flavor recipe from Pinch of Yum is to double it. It’s that good.

Spaghetti Carbonara

Any meal that starts with cooking up some bacon is destined for greatness, and this spaghetti carbonara from Damn Delicious is no exception.

Instant Pot French Dip Sandwiches

You’ll get lots of flavor development in a short amount of time with this recipe from Amy + Jacky. We like to serve it on toasted ciabatta rolls topped with Swiss cheese.

Vegan Chik’n Parm Rolls

@consciouschris

Welcome back to another episode of Lazy Trader Joe’s Meals! Today we are making chik’n parm roll ups. They’re a breeze to make and pack in a ton of flavor. Make these for parties or a fun weekend meal! Here’s what you need: – plain pizza dough – tomato basil marinara – chickenless crispy tenders, cooked on the low end of the package instructions and chopped into small pieces – dairy-free mozzarella and parmesan – 2 tbsp dairy-free butter – 1 tbsp minced garlic 1. preheat oven to 450 degrees F. 2. let pizza dough come to room temperature and roll it out into a large rectangle 3. spread a thin layer of marinara leaving about 1/2 inch of room around the edges of the dough. 4. add the cooked and chopped chickenless crispy tenders, and both dairy-free cheeses on top. 5. carefully roll up the dough into a log and slice it into one inch pieces (Refrigerating the roll for 30 minutes before cutting will make it a little easier to cut if you don’t have a sharp serrated knife). 6. melt the dairy free butter and mix in the minced garlic. 7. place sliced chicken parm rolls on a prepared baking sheet about an inch apart and coat each piece with the garlic butter. 8. bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden and cooked through. 9. top with dairy free parm and serve with extra marinara. The Perfect Pantry

Dessert in the Crock Pot? Who knew! Little ones will happily gobble up this comforting Nutella bread pudding after a long day at school.

It was the night before the first full day of kindergarten. Bags of school supplies were piled in front of my son’s new, oversized backpack. I’d laid out his clothes on top of his dresser, clipped his nails as if for inspection. At bath time, I scrubbed the magic marker off his palms with unusual vigor. And after I tucked him in for a premature bedtime, I headed to the kitchen. There, my least favorite task awaited me. It was time to pack his lunchbox.

I’d purchased a bento box, somehow imagining those cute little containers may turn my son into a person he was not yet: an adventurous eater.

There was once a time when my son was not picky at mealtime. It was around the time he began eating solid food. I loaded his highchair tray with carrots and berries, boiled eggs and chicken. One evening, he devoured our takeout tikka masala, and I, a smug new mom, bragged about his palate to his daycare teacher.

“He may get pickier when he’s older,” she warned. And sure enough, perhaps a year later, she was absolutely right.

He began demanding less color, reveling in a new obsession with tan. Chicken nuggets. Mac and cheese. I’d sneak single green beans and tiny broccoli florets onto his plate, only to be greeted with tantrums. He didn’t want to eat them! He didn’t even want to see them! Still, I continued to try—exposure, I read, was the most important thing. And as his taste grew narrower and narrower, I found myself thankful that at least he still ate chicken nuggets. Because, you know, protein.

By the time we reached kindergarten, we had made a bit of progress (specifically in the fruit department). Still, I dreaded packing his lunch. I dreaded it because I had two choices: I could pack foods he would actually eat, or I could pack foods that I believed would make me look like a good mom.

That night before kindergarten with the bento box, I tried to strike a balance between aspirational and realistic. I wasn’t crazy enough to sneak in anything too exciting, like edamame (this, when I looked at lunchbox inspiration on the internet, seemed like a crowning achievement: a kid who ate edamame).

I packed a mix of healthy and indulgent. A hard-boiled egg. Strawberries. A peanut butter sandwich on white bread. Apple sauce. Some chips.

When I picked him up from school that next day, he looked tired. Almost dizzy. When we returned home, I signed his planner and opened his lunch box. The chips were gone, and so was the applesauce—but otherwise, it was nearly still full.

“Why didn’t you eat your strawberries?” I asked him later that evening. “You love those!”

“They didn’t taste right,” he replied.

For a week, then two, I did this: packed a lunch, and then the next day after school, nearly threw it all away. He returned home from school ravenous.

“What do your friends eat?” I asked him, exasperated. “Is there anything they eat that sounds good to you?”

“They eat the school lunch,” he replied.

I looked online at the meal schedule. The following day, they would be serving a hamburger and fries.

“Go ahead and order that,” I told him.

And sure enough, the next day, he returned home bright and smiling. He reported eating his lunch, happily, with all his friends. And then, the next day, he ordered and ate the spaghetti. Then the chicken and noodles. I quietly rejoiced.

Energy! Protein! And my son was, in fact, trying new things.

I’d let myself believe that my son’s diet was a reflection of my motherhood. I’d internalized the stigma that a school cafeteria lunch was somehow inferior to a meal packed from home.

But you know what is truly unhealthy? A hungry child. By saying yes to the school lunch, my son was still discovering new foods. He was enjoying a meal with his peers, learning that eating is about nutrition, yes, but it is also about community.

I’d believed so many messages about food having moral value, and I was inadvertently placing that burden on my son. It wasn’t fair that I expected him to make me look better by consuming what others deemed good. I’m continuing to say yes to the school cafeteria lunch—something my son is very happy about—and I hope making mealtime less stressful for us both will contribute to a positive relationship with food for the rest of his life.

With virtual reality, mini-golf, foosball, and a racetrack, Norwegian Prima is a tween and teen dream ship

When you step aboard the Norwegian Prima, you instantly feel the effort and care that went into launching the newest member of Norwegian’s fleet. Boasting a luxurious and thoughtful design, passengers can sit back and enjoy some of the finest food and entertainment the high seas can offer. From virtual reality to waterslides and a three-level racetrack, the Prima is ideal for people looking for a cruise with older kids. We had the chance to experience one of the first cruises aboard the Prima and want to share everything we know.

“When we launched Norwegian Prima, we aimed at going beyond expectations, providing our guests with more wide-open spaces, elevated service, thoughtful design, and a variety of unforgettable experiences, and this latest unveiling of our entertainment and onboard activities lineup is going to have the wow-factor they’ve yearned for in a much-anticipated cruise vacation,” says Harry Sommer, President, and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line.

Details about the Norwegian Prima

Norwegian Cruise Line

The Prima is 965 feet long, hosts 3,100 guests, and has an impressive range of suites available to book. Choose between a suite with a view; the club balcony suite, which has more room and is perfect for families; a balcony room; an oceanview room; or an inside or studio. The Haven, Prima’s exclusive enclave, has its restaurants, pool, 24-hour butler, private elevators, and 107 spacious suites. For the first time, the re-imagined Haven has the first three-bedroom suite offered on a Norwegian cruise ship. The Oceanwalk is Norwegian’s first-ever glass walkway at sea, and the Concourse has several pieces of interactive artwork.

Activities on the Norwegian Prima

Norwegian Prima Speedway
Gabby Cullen

While there is a splash zone for little kids, we were impressed with all the activities that older kids and teens would enjoy more.

The Prima Speedway
According to this writer, this racetrack is one of the best attractions on the ship. Once strapped in safely (wear closed-toed shoes!), you’ll race opponents around three levels at the top of the Prima. Be on the lookout for other guests with booster guns. If they “hit” your car, you’ll get a speed boost to help you race past others! Since there is a height requirement, this one is primarily for teens and adults.

Tee Time
This interactive mini-golf course has nine holes and has a fun retro vibe with a “drive-thru,” flamingos, a microphone, and giant dice.

The Bull’s Eye
Designed with a lounge vibe, complete with comfy sofas, you can easily spend a few hours hanging out at one of the dart boards that come with a modern tech upgrade. Choose from many different dart games (some we didn’t know), and be ready for snarky but hilarious comments from the game if your throw is less than stellar.

The Stadium
Here is where you’ll find active games like shuffleboard, ping pong, pickleball, foosball, and more. It’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon at sea.

The Drop, the Rush, and the Wave
These 10-story tall slides are perfect for thrill-seekers! The Drop is a free-fall slide, and the Rush is a dual slide, so be sure to challenge a family member to a race. If you want water fun, try the Wave, the tidal wave slide on Deck 19.

Galaxy Pavillion
From the flying theater to the Top Golf simulator, the Galaxy Pavilion is a must. There are 13 VR games and an escape room. Insider Tip: This is one of the Cruise Director’s favorite places on the Prima!

Dining Aboard the Norwegian Prima

Hudson's dining room on the Norwegian Prima
Gabby Cullen

Norwegian Cruise Line is known for its exceptional dining experiences, and the Prima takes that experience to the next level.

Hudson’s and the Commodore Room
In these main dining rooms, you’ll find a completely re-vamped menu that, in 2023, will roll out to other ships. The fixed menu focuses on preparing fewer menu items with higher quality and execution and includes globally-inspired dishes, vegetarian options, and a make-your-own pasta option where guests can choose their pasta style, sauce, and ingredients for a unique meal all their own.

Indulge Food Hall
This completely new concept has never been done on a cruise ship. There are 11 different stalls in the food hall, ranging from Indian to Italian to Texas BBQ. Settle in at a table in the middle of the space and browse the available tablet to order your food. The chicken tikka masala and lamb chops were favorites, as well as shrimp Pad Thai, tuna tostadas, and French onion soup.

While you can eat here at all three meals, there are different menus at each time. There is also a Starbucks and a dessert stall, but these are not complimentary dining options.

Surfside Cafe & Grill
At this buffet-style dining experience, you’ll find not only kid favorites like hamburgers, hot dogs, and french fries but also a new wood-burning pizza oven, grilled veggies, a pasta station, a salad bar, and fresh seafood options.

The Local Bar & Grill
You’ll find classic pub-style menu options at this favorite hangout, and it’s open 24-7! Think omelets, breakfast sandwiches, cobb salads, fish and chips, chicken sandwiches, cheeseburgers, chicken wings, pretzel bites, and more.

Specialty Dining
Palomar is Norwegian’s first Mediterranean-inspired restaurant and serves items like lobster, oysters, filet mignon, tableside fish, and more. At Food Republic, you can share plates like shrimp, lettuce wraps, pork belly dumplings, and beef skewers. Onda by Scarpetta is where you’ll find classics like spaghetti and ravioli offered alongside mezzelune and tagliatelle, followed by options like salmon, steak, and roasted chicken.

Los Lobos offers tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, chile Rellenos and more. The romantic vibe of Le Bistro French paired with wonderful meal items such as Coq Au Vin, sea bass, and lobster Thermador, is ideal for a parent's night out.  For a classic steakhouse experience, Cagney's is still serving up the grilled classic like the rib eye, the filet mignon, and a New York strip, with tempting sides such as potatoes au gratin, garlic mushrooms, and parmesan-dusted truffle fries. Asian cuisine can be found at Hasuki, which is Norwegian's new teppanyaki-style experience, and Nama Sushi.

Entertainment on the Norwegian Prima

Noise Boys show on the Norwegian Prima
Gabby Cullen

The Norwegian Prima Theater is where much of the nightly entertainment happens. With seating for 750 guests, an LED video wall, and a vibe that appeals to ages across the board, guests will go from a Broadway show to a nightclub all on the same night. As Norwegian Cruise Line Entertainment Director Julie Valeriote says "We want the experience to begin when you enter the venue."  Other live entertainment can be found at Syd's Pour House and other hidden gems on board the Prima.

Noise Boys
Get ready to be wowed by the talent here! Straight from the Edinburg Fringe Festival, this incredible show is filled with tap dancing, award-winning beatboxing, and a hip, urban vibe that'll appeal to ages young and old.

Summer: The Donna Summer Musical
Experience the same Tony-nominated Broadway musical found in New York, you'll find yourself dancing along to the disco icon's greatest hits on the high seas.

The Price Is Right Live
That's right, guests will have the chance to compete on the legendary game show right on the Norwegian Prima! Will you get to spin the wheel and head for the Showcase Showdown?

Improv at Sea
If comedy is your jam, this is for you. Laugh with your fellow guests at intimate stand-up shows.

Live Music at Syd's Pour House
Each Norwegian cruise ship has a signature concept when it comes to live music, but what is the same across the board is the intimate, hidden gem vibe of each show. You might hear classic covers, rock music, or other fun music genres that'll have you leaving like you discovered the next big band.

Family-friendly tips for celebrating at the Merriest Place on Earth

The holidays have arrived at the Disneyland Resort! From now through Jan. 8, 2023, families can get their fill of holiday magic that includes everything from a new food and drink lineup fit for foodies, to gorgeous holiday decor, and seasonal ride overlays.

We got a sneak peek on the first day the parks opened up donned in their holiday best and have all the tips for making your trip to the Happiest Place on Earth the best during this magical time of year.

What to Know about Holidays at Disneyland

Magic Bands Have Arrived in California

Karly Wood

After jealously ogling the Magic Bands that all the Florida resorts have been using for years, Californians and visitors to the Disneyland Resort can finally pick up their own! Magic Bands are multi-functional bracelets that let you store tons of information, like your entry pass and Lightning Lane reservations.

We love them because there are tons of designs to choose from, everyone can wear their own, and it makes getting into the parks and onto rides where you are redeeming a Lightning Lane pass a cinch. Just hold your band up to the sensor and you're in!

You can enjoy the parks without a Magic Band, just as always. But if you're interested in purchasing your own, they are available all through the parks and start at $35 (and they work at Walt Disney World, too!).

Seasonal Attraction Overlays

Karly Wood

Every year, select attractions get a holiday makeover which makes a trip to the parks even more magical. Be sure to hit up "it's a small world" Holiday in all its lit-up glory both inside and out.

The other can't-miss ride is the "Haunted Mansion Holiday" where Jack Skellington has transformed the New Orleans house into his own world.

Holiday Entertainment

Disneyland Resort

Get into the holiday spirit in a jiffy with the annual “A Christmas Fantasy” Parade. This daily trek down Main Street U.S.A. boasts everyone's favorite characters, dancing gingerbread cookies and marching toy soldiers, and lots of festive music.

Once it gets dark, snag a spot to catch the “Believe… in Holiday Magic” fireworks show, complete with a “snowfall" and vibrant projections.

Enjoy the Festive Menu

Karly Wood

There is no shortage of amazing holiday-themed food this season at Disneyland. Enjoy the likes of the Jolly Holiday Bakery's Peppermint Cookie Doughnut, a Haunted Mansion Cake, Cranberry BBQ Chicken Sandwich, and even a Charcuterie Pizza Slice.

Don't forget the annual, special-edition popcorn bucket! This year's most coveted option is the musical holiday popcorn tin and the line to pick one up proves it. If this is a must-have item, be sure to get to the parks early for the shortest line possible.

Disney California Adventure Disney Festival of Holidays

Holiday Decor

Karly Wood

Once again, the Festival of Holidays has returned to Disney California Adventure, celebrating Christmas, Navidad, Three Kings Day, Hanukkah, Diwali, and Kwanzaa. From the moment you enter the park, you’ll be greeted with the sights and sounds of this wonderful time of year.

Buena Vista Street welcomes you with a 50-foot Christmas tree, decorated in vintage ornaments and Cars Land has been decked out in whimsical holiday decorations like a tire Christmas Tree. Even Mater has gotten a fun makeover!

Sip and Savor Pass

Karly Wood

As you make your way toward Paradise Gardens Park, you’ll be treated to many food and drink options at the Festival Marketplaces. In order to get the full experience, we highly recommend picking up a Sip and Savor Pass. Each one comes with eight tabs that you can redeem on hand-crafted food items and non-alcoholic beverages. It’s a great way to let everyone pick something they want, and the sizes are perfect for sharing when you pick out a few at a time.

We tried a variety of diverse options, and we thoroughly enjoyed the curry mac and cheese, Tikka Masala, Turkey Poutine, and the delicious pumpkin cheesecake!

Family hack: You can place your order for all your food at ONE cart––even if that cart doesn’t carry your menu item. Then, when you’re ready, take your receipt to the correct cart and pick up your food. This way, you only wait in the order line one time!

Entertainment

Disneyland Resort

Disney California Adventure has plenty of family-friendly entertainment, including “Mickey’s Happy Holidays.” This procession brings Disney and Pixar characters together as they dance and march to the sounds of the Holiday Toy Drummers.

The “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” street party is back this year and features both Mickey and Minnie Mouse wearing fiesta outfits alongside Mexican folklórico dancers, Mariachis, Brazilian samba dancers, percussionists, and giant mojiganga puppets.

If you love the nighttime spectacular, World of Color, get ready for the Season of Light version! This special holiday show brings holiday music and all the special moments from Disney animated films together for an unforgettable and brilliantly lit show. It features lights, lasers, water, fire, and hundreds of fountains, as well as 120 characters in this mesmerizing production set to treasured holiday tunes. Be sure to snag your spot when reservations open on the Disneyland app at 12 p.m. daily.

Looking for Santa? Like last year, you can find him hanging out at his rustic home on the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

Festive Attractions

Disneyland Resort

While most of the attractions will remain the same this season (with the exception of some fun decor) you can experience two special seasonal experiences in Cars Land. Be sure to check out Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl, where you can enjoy Luigi’s magically light backyard, as well as Mater’s Jingle Jamboree.

Visit Disneyland & Disney California Adventure now through Jan. 8, 2023, to experience the Merriest Place on Earth for the holiday season.

These crowd-pleasing Dallas pizza places are sure to satisfy everyone’s cravings

Say “Texas food” and your mind probably jumps to BBQ, Tex-Mex, or chicken fried steak. Although those are all solid choices, Texas is no slouch when it comes to great pies. Anyone who’s ever had a picky kid or struggled to find something that makes everyone in the family happy knows the solution is always (well, at least usually) pizza.

Many of the Dallas-based pizza parlors that are featured in this list offer unique and even upscale topping combos that might not appeal to all kids, but have no fear: You can get a basic cheese and pepperoni pizza just about anywhere. In fact, most of the best places to get pizza in Dallas also serve some pasta or other Italian options even if someone in your group is shockingly not wanting ‘za. What’s more, many have bars or serve beer and wine—a good “grownup drink” might be exactly what Mom and Dad are looking for.

Insider Tip: Kids’ menus are mentioned if the pizza place has a dedicated menu for children. Otherwise, order off the regular menu for all.

Cane Rosso
These 14-inch pizzas are prepared in the Neopolitan style and are cooked in less than 90 seconds in a 900-degree oven. There’s a robust selection of gourmet pizzas divided into “red” and “white” sections as well as build-your-own and gluten-free crust options. The pies have fun names (ahem, Jabroni) that might not be 100-percent appropriate for little ears.

Cane Rosso’s kid’s menu is geared toward younger palates, offering familiar cheese and pepperoni pizzas and pasta with butter, parmesan, or tomato sauce. There’s also a separate brunch menu with non-pizza delights such as breakfast tacos and chicken and waffles. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Various locations across the Dallas Fort Worth metro area, with menus that vary by location.

Serious Pizza
When a pizza place makes 30-inch pies you can hardly fit in your car, you know there’s no playing around. Serious Pizza prides itself on being outrageous and having outrageously good pizza. Kids (especially kids with serious appetites) will find the idea of having a giant slice of pizza to be super fun.

Specialty and build-your-own pizzas come in three sizes: large (18-inch), extra large (24-inch), and seriously large (30-inch). The list of specialty pizzas is pretty standard: buffalo chicken, Margherita, Philly cheesesteak, and other favorites. There are four vegetarian specialty pizzas, including one made with Beyond Sausage. Note: Serious Pizza does not accept cash.

Old Hag’s
Old Hag’s Pizza is named for the owner’s mother, Becky, at her request. This spot has a huge variety of pizza crusts—including gluten-free—and toppings, and guests can choose from spicy or mild pizza sauce. They offer New York-style and pan-style pizzas.

There’s a lid for every pot here. From gourmet combinations like spinach, walnuts, and Gorgonzola to more traditional meat and cheese pizzas, if there’s not something that appeals to you on the menu, you can build your own. They also serve fully vegan pizza.

Campisi’s
Campisi’s pizzas come in three sizes—small, medium, and large—with a robust list of toppings for building your own pizza. There’s also a small menu of specialty pizzas that includes a Greek pizza with olives and feta and a BBQ chicken pizza topped with red onions and ranch. The kid’s menu has a variety of simple pastas, individual pizzas, and chicken fingers.

Fun fact: Campisi’s claims to be not only Texas’ first pizzeria but that Texas’ first pizza was made in their original Mockingbird Lane location. True or not, Campisi’s and its “OG Texas pizza” deserves a spot on your list of Dallas places to get pizza.

Zalat
No matter what you like on your pizza, starting with Zalat’s housemade crust and marinara sauce gives you a great foundation. From there, choose old standbys like cheese and pepperoni or step it up with something more adventurous, like Nashville hot chicken and pickles or the Sweet Revenge, topped with bacon jam and hot honey.

Zalat’s pizzas come in two sizes: 14-inch large and 18-inch giant. They offer gluten-free crusts and vegan cheese options. All crusts are fully vegan.

Yonker’s Pizza
The motto of Yonker’s Pizza is: “Born in Yonkers. Perfected in Dallas.” These New York-style pizzas are made with hand-tossed dough. Although they mainly offer 18-inch pizzas, there are several options for 10-inch specialty pies if you want something a little more elevated. The Story City Pizza is topped with ricotta, truffle oil, pepperoni, and Italian sausage. The Great Bambino, topped with meatballs, Italian beef, hamburger, Italian sausage, and pepperoni, is a must for any true meat lover. Cauliflower crust is available on request at no extra charge.

Fireside Pies
If your crew is game for more adventurous pizzas, Fireside Pies just might be your place. In addition to build your own pizza with standard toppings, Fireside’s menu includes unique pies such as burrata pesto and lamb sausage. The current menu lists a Hatch taco pie, available for a limited time. (Hatch chili pepper season is usually short, from early August to mid-October.) Gluten-free and cauliflower crusts are available for an upcharge.

Fireside Pies also has a weekend brunch menu that includes brioche French toast and bacon and avocado frittata.

Greenville Avenue Pizza Co.
Greenville Avenue Pizza Co. is all about “slaying” the pizza experience. One of the most unique things about Greenville Avenue Pizza Co. is the wide availability of pizza by the slice and the many options for calzones. Also, their menu includes a build-your-own section with several creative options for drizzles and sauces, cheeses, and seasonings as well as veggies and protein options. Their choices of toppings include hot honey, pesto, feta, gouda, and several other things you don’t typically see on a pizza menu. There’s also a robust selection of Pizza Slayer Classics, with a preset mix of toppings. Because most topping choices are atypical, read the menu carefully beforehand to make sure this is the right pizza place for your little eaters.

Eno’s Pizza Tavern
Eno’s signature pizzas feature a list of interesting combos such as the Pineapple Fresca (pineapple, arugula, parmesan, jalapeno, and country ham) and the Central Pie (bacon, goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and rosemary). They offer gluten-free crusts for an upcharge of $6.50.

You can also order an iPie Your Way, which is a plain mozzarella and tomato pizza with a list of add-ons. The add-ons are priced in tiers with toppings like vegetables and herbs on the lower end and premium meats (Texas beef and boar meatballs) and premium cheeses (feta and fresh mozzarella) being pricier.

DL Mack’s
While DL Mack’s doesn’t tout itself as a pizza place, Chicago-style cracker crust pizza is one of their specialties, and it’s so good that it deserves a place on this list. Specialty pizzas include The Caprese (Campari tomatoes, fresh basil, olive oil, and balsamic glaze) and the Harry Caray Special (pepperoni, fresh jalapenos, and spicy ranch), plus a handful of other choices.

BellaTrino

The dedicated kids’ menu includes familiar fare such as cheese and pepperoni pizza, chicken strips, and macaroni and cheese. Gluten-friendly pizzas are available for $4 extra.

Delucca’s
Big appetite? Come to Delucca’s, which serves their pizza gaucho style—meaning, various pizzas and other dishes are circulated throughout the dining room and guests take whatever looks good to them. If you’ve ever dined at a Brazilian steakhouse, it’s the same concept, only with pizza. You’ll pay a fixed price for as much pizza as you can hold.

The online menu lists the types of pizzas (and dessert pizzas, too!) you can expect to find. Although there is a classic pepperoni and a four cheese, most of the pizzas run toward the gourmet and elevated: Garlic picanha and chicken tikka masala are some of the varieties you’re likely to find. Most pizzas and other dishes can be made vegetarian, lactose-free, or gluten-free upon request.

Louie’s
The Chicago-style thin crust pizza at Louie’s is a carefully guarded secret, as is the housemade sauce. Pizzas are available in small (12-inch) and large (13-inch) and are reasonably priced. There are no on-menu specialty pizzas at Louie’s. Instead, the available toppings and their respective prices are listed on the menu, so guests can order what they want. Although pizza is just a small part of Louie’s menu—there are a plethora of other food options—it’s what Louie’s is best known for.

i Fratelli
The motto of this robust Texas chain is “never trust a round pizza.” Not quite oval, not quite square, and definitely not round, these pizzas have been one of the most beloved Texas pizza joints for more than 30 years.

i Fratelli’s current menu includes six specialty pizzas and options to build your own. Popular pies include the Staff Special (grilled chicken, artichokes, and Roma tomatoes) and the Carne Classico, which has all the meats, including Canadian bacon, meatballs, and Italian sausage.

Various locations throughout Texas with most in the Dallas Fort Worth metro area. The published menu is the same across all i Fratelli’s locations.
