Pittsburgh Unified School District teacher Dorothy Honey Mallari’s second grade-style version of  Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” is an educational anthem every student needs to hear.

According to KPIX 5, the Los Medanos Elementary second grade teacher regularly rewrites pop music for her class.

Even though original lyrics to the song aren’t all-together child-friendly, Mallari told KPIX News, “And when the song came on — the Kid’s Bop version — they were really digging it.” The teacher continued, “And so I said, ‘OK, this is the song we’re going to do it to.’”

The revamped version of the song now includes lyrics such as, “Let’s be great, cuz’ I know we are great” and, “Help you with your homework, just a little.”

So what do Mallari’s second graders think of the song? Based on the video clip, they all enjoy it! Eight-year-old student Hayden Wiebe told KPIX News, “It makes us feel happy in the morning and it makes us feel like a family.” Another student, Jaxson Sanchez, said of his inspirational teacher, “She makes a difference of school, because other teachers just do normal things.”

It’s not just Mallari’s students who see the brilliance in her “Truth Hurts” re-do. Along with most of the Internet, Lizzo chimed in, tweeting, “Ur right..this IS the best thing I’ve watched today.”

There’s no shortage of celeb baby news in 2021. Along with Meghan Markle’s announcement and a recent rash of births including Ashley Tisdale, Hilary Duff and Bindi Irwin, you can now add another celebrity to the new parent list—Jason Derulo.

The singer and his girlfriend, Jena Frumes, are expecting their first child together! Derulo revealed the pregnancy in a recent Instagram post, writing, “Couldn’t be more excited for this new chapter in our life.”

In their IG video clip, the happy soon-to-be parents walk sweetly hand-in-hand on the beach. Derulo stops to gently rub and kiss Frumes’ growing baby bump as the couple strolls through the super-scenic setting. As the singer’s IG video comes to a close, the camera moves from the couple to the beach, with the words, “Coming soon” drawn in the sand.

Derulo and Frumes met just before the pandemic began. He later opened up to Page Six about his relationship with Frumes, spending time with his four-year-old niece Skylar, and whether he has “baby fever” saying, “You know, I think I’m getting to that age, you know what I’m saying? So, I don’t know.”

Congrats go out to the happy couple!

Cover your ears right now. Seriously: break out the earmuffs, the wooly hats and anything else you can find to keep you from hearing the “Santa Shark” Christmas song. Yep, that’s right. The earworm that your kiddos crave is back with a Christmas edition.

PinkFong’s “Baby Shark” is more than just a cute little ol’ kids song. It’s a tune that absolutely, positively will get stuck in your head. Hours after your tot danced around the family room to popular YouTube video, we know you’ll catch yourself quietly singing “Baby shark, doo doo doodoodoodoo doo” to yourself. Well, now the same can be said for “Santa Shark.”

Unlike the original, the holiday version was created by YouTubers Super Simple Songs. But that doesn’t mean it’s any less memorable. Instead of the original “doo-doo-doos”, the Santa-fied version has, “ho ho hos.” (Of course.) Aside from replacing the “baby” shark with a “Santa” shark, it also swaps out the shark’s family members for elves and reindeer.

So here’s the thing—you’ll probably want to pull your hair out on the second go-around of the YouTube video clip. But your littles will adore this cute Christmas song. Ah, the things we do for our kids!

National Random Acts of Kindness Day is on February 18, 2020. Gestures of kindness can be anything from making a thank you card for someone, holding the door for a stranger and telling them to have a nice day. The day is also a great opportunity to show kids all the ways they can have fun creating and sharing kindness.

1. Help out a friend or neighbor anonymously. Make someone smile with no strings attached—shovel the snow from your neighbor’s sidewalk, or leave a basket of cookies just because, no thanks needed.

2. Be a baby/dog/cat-sitter for free. Many parents (of humans and fur babies) forego taking time out for themselves because sitters’ rates are often expensive. They will certainly appreciate your offer to look after their precious little ones without charge.

3. Bring out the chalk! Everybody loves to be appreciated and cheered. On a nice day, surprise someone with a special message using sidewalk art! You may never realize how much it lifts someone’s mood.

4. Make a “Kindness Jar.” Keep track of all acts of kindness with a “Kindness Jar.” Every time someone in your family does a random act of kindness, write it on a piece of paper with their name and put it in the jar. When it’s full, sort through it to see who was the kindest. Then, that person can pick an act of kindness that everyone else should do!

5. Celebrate a friend for being awesome. For older kids, text message friends and let them know they are special with a fun silly gif video or go to GiveAnAwesome.com and celebrate a person for being and doing something awesome.

6. Create a “Kindness Challenge” from the AWESOME app. Entrepreneur and dad, Bert Pope, developed Awesome, The Social Network for Kindness, a free mobile application that’s also a game where your profile gets brighter and changes colors as you level up with acts of kindness. You can also use the “Kindness template,” and upload a photo or video clip, add a title and description for your “Kindness Challenge” and share it with all the users on AWESOME. Sharing and spreading kindness is, of course, awesome.

Bert Pope, a father of four and the CEO of Awesome Company Worldwide, where he has launched the #BEAWESOME movement to make the world a better place.  Awesome is the social network for kindness, where members are encouraged and rewarded for doing and sharing acts of kindness in their daily lives.

Actor Josh Gad, a.k.a. Olaf (or at least the voice behind him), recently shared a tear-jerkingly sweet video of his nine-year-old daughter on Instagram.

The clip, which was taken four years ago, shows the little girl crying as she muses, “But why will I never not be a kid anymore?” At the tender age of five, Gad’s daughter had just come to the realization she would grow up, and like her nanny Sara says in the video, “We’re not Peter Pan. Only Peter Pan is a kid forever.”

Along with the clip, Gad captioned the video, “Four years ago, during dinner one night our beautiful little girl had a huge epiphany that shook her to her core…we all have to grow up.” The Frozen 2 star continued, “This heartbreaking moment is something I never shared publicly before because it was so personal. Our Nanny at the time, Sara, did such a remarkable job helping guide her through this difficult “coming of age” moment and I constantly look back at it as a reminder of the fragility of youth and our struggle to make sense of our place in this rapid world.”

Gad went on to explain the impact his daughter’s realization had on his Frozen 2 character, “It just so happens that I shared this video with our brilliant Frozen 2 team at the time and said, I believe this should be Olaf’s journey in Frozen 2.” The actor opened up about how this moment (and the video clip) shaped Olaf’s journey, telling the Hollywood Reporter, “I showed it to [Frozen 2 directors] Chris and Jennifer, who both had smiles on their faces. I think that they both had the same instincts—that it was time for Olaf to grow up.”

Steph Curry is more than an NBA superstar––the celeb athlete is a super-dad too!

During a recent Golden State Warriors’ game, the point guard, who wasn’t playing due to an injury, showed off a very special handshake with his daughter Riley.

In a completely cute video clip, which the NBA shared on social media, Curry is seen high-fiving the seven-year-old. The daddy-daughter duo then launches into a complex handshake routine. Before the point guard returns to his teammates, Curry and Riley complete the handshake with a sweet kiss.

This isn’t the first time Curry’s daughter has turned the spotlight away from her famous dad and grabbed the media’s attention. In 2015 the then-two-year-old stole the show during a press conference.

It looks like mini me’s are this year’s Halloween costume choice for celeb mama-daughter duos. Kylie Jenner dressed toddler Stormi up in a pint-sized version of her own Met Gala glam and actress Gabrielle Union got nostalgic with her kiddo’s Bring It On-inspired costume!

Last month Union showed off the completely cute mini Clover cheerleader outfit she got for daughter Kaavia James from Runza restaurant. The actress/mom smartly saved the adorable ensemble, bringing it out (and on!) for Halloween.

Over the weekend Union posted adorable mommy-daughter pics and a video clip of the pair twinning in matching Clovers costumes. Even though it’s been almost 20 years since the release of Bring It On, Union looks almost identical to her decades-old movie self.

Posed in epic cheerleader style (and just like her onscreen character Isis), Union added the caption, “Brought It” to her IG post—and yes, both she and Kaavia certainly did.

Shay Mitchell and boyfriend Matte Babel are parents! The actress announced the birth of the couple’s first baby in an Instagram post over the weekend.

Mitchell initially announced the pregnancy back in June and later revealed the gender in a cutely creative Power Ranger-filled YouTube video clip.

The new mama posted a sweet pic of her hand holding her new baby daughter’s teeny tiny fingers. Mitchell also added the caption, “Never letting go…”

Even though fans already knew Mitchell and Babel were expecting a girl (thanks to the Pink Power Ranger), the new parents haven’t released their newborn daughter’s name yet. So it looks like we’ll all just have to wait for Mitchell’s naming news!

After announcing their baby news last month, Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have something else to share—whether they’re expecting a boy or a girl.

The parents to four already have three boys and one girl (plus Baldwin and ex Kim Basinger’s daughter, Ireland). If you’re wondering whether the couple’s six-year old daughter feels outnumbered by the boys, Hilaria shared with POPSUGAR, “She loves Ireland, but she wants a baby sister. Basically, my mission is I’m going to keep having kids until it’s a girl!”

It looks like the Baldwins may have met their mission—because they’re having a girl! In a sweet Instagram video clip, Hilaria showed their at-home gender reveal. Each of the four kiddos got a fully swaddled baby doll. The six, four, three and one-year-olds had to remove the blanket to reveal a onesie underneath.

The pink onesies clued the kids into the baby’s gender. Hilaria added, on IG, “We are so excited!” Earlier this month Hilaria posted an ultrasound pic and asked for gender reveal ideas, writing, “I have a secret obsession with gender reveal videos…Give me ideas. I should know in about a week or two, because I did the early blood test.”

While the mama-to-be did ask her IG followers to add their ideas in the comments, we still don’t know if she chose one of the suggestions or got creative on her own. In either case, congrats go out to the Baldwin brood and their baby girl news!

Sometimes celeb parents are just like us. Actress Kristen Bell recently posted a completely cute video clip of her daughter singing Lizzo’s “Good As Hell” and she’s giggling to herself as much as we are!

Last year Bell’s daughter Delta “let it go” when she belted out the Frozen tune in an impromptu performance, which Bell posted on Instagram. Now it looks like Delta, or her sis Lincoln, is back at it again—minus the Elsa tune.

In her most recent video, Bell quietly smiles to herself as one of her daughters sings Lizzo’s, “I do my hair toss, check my nails” lyrics. Of course, her daughter’s rendition also includes a few other, not-to-clear and possibly kid-created, lyrics too.
