During a recent interview with Fred Roger’s wife on The Tonight Show, we all got a little more insight into the life of the children’s television icon. Like our kiddos, we all grew up with Mr. Rogers and his beautiful neighborhood. With the release of the documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, Joanne Rogers (a.k.a. Mrs. Fred Rogers) is sharing even more fab facts and adorable insights into her husband’s epic life. Check out what she had to say about the love of her life to Jimmy Fallon.

When asked about the significance of the number 143, Rogers told Fallon about the double meaning that this number held for them. To start with, 143 was Mr. Rogers’ goal weight. And yes this is amazing and impressive—the children’s television star actually maintained this weight throughout his entire adult life. Whoa!

But that’s not the only importance 143 had for the Rogers family. Mrs. Rogers explained, to Fallon, that the “1” is for the letter “I,” the “4” is for the four letters of the word “love” and the “3” is for the three letters of the word “you.” Could that be any more special? Probably not.

So how does a woman meet the sweetest, most thoughtful, most patient man out there? Joanne and Fred met in college. She told Fallon (about her marriage), “He would talk about his feelings and I could talk about my feelings to him. And the things that bothered us and the things that we loved.”

Mrs. Rogers also spoke to Fallon about the deep friendship that she had with her husband, noting, “Don’t you have to have a friendship to fall back on through your married life?” After Fallon agreed, Rogers followed with, “And we had it for 50 years.” Aww. How supremely sweet!
