Hey, you made it! The summer is winding down, which means it’s time to start thinking about heading back to school. (Although FYI: it’s not too late to get to some of these spots and events in the dog days of summer.) That said, there’s nothing like back-to-school shopping to get everyone excited about getting back to class. This super fun kids brand opened a pop-up store in the Flatiron District to serve all your back to school needs. (Note: It's gone September 29.) Somehow this snazzy number is not only cool, it's also machine-washable. (That's pretty awesome.) Sequin jacket, $59.50.

Over at Greenpoint's Flying Squirrel, owner Catherine Schmitz says scooters and helmets are flying off the shelves. Another hot item this time of year? Rain gear. Over at Pipsqueak in Bed-Stuy, this kids' version of Factry's Holo umbrella is a crowd-pleaser. (Apparently, it inspires lots of double-takes when in use.) The store also stocks the brand's watermelon and lemon styles, and if you need a Holo for yourself, it comes in an adult-scale size as well.

Stanley Puffer Black Boot

We missed the memo on these light-up shoes from Pop: they charge via USB connection and have three brightness levels. (Sold!)
