Dads are the ultimate jugglers, from pancakes made to order to Sunday evening storytime. To honor all of the cool dudes in our life, we want you to meet nine New York City dads that inspire us. From teaching kids about healthy food to bringing design-forward kids’ gear to the marketplace, these dads are committed to spending as much time with their kids as they can and are, ultimately, redefining what it means to be a dad today.

Peter Shapiro

The man who bought Wetlands, the Tribeca nightclub, at age 23, now counts Brooklyn Bowl, which opened in 2009, as one of his major projects. As dad to Roxy, seven, and Simon, three, Peter loves bringing his kids to Family Bowl that takes place on weekends at Brooklyn Bowl, a performance venue and bowling alley. "I also love taking Roxy and Simon to kids' shows so they can experience being in a space with other people," says Peter, who lives in Chelsea with his wife, Rebecca, and kids. "I love taking them to Central Park Summerstage for that exact reason."

Biggest personal accomplishment: "Roxy and Simon. There’s no accomplishment that’s greater than your kids. And then there’s the challenge of making sure you keep them on the right path. That's why it feels so good when you see your kid being thoughtful to other people."

Biggest professional accomplishment: "I always wanted to create my own venue from scratch. At first people wondered if bands would want to play at a bowling alley so it has been neat to see how well people are responding to the space."
