It’s a great time to be a vegan in New York City. From restaurants to cafés to food halls, meat-free eateries are popping up everywhere. And long gone are the days of brown rice and steamed vegetables. Today you can get vegan versions of Southern comfort food, traditional Mexican fare and even fast food burgers. Even better? They’ve got your little ones’ taste buds covered. Hello, mac ‘n’ cheese! All vegan, all family-friendly, all delicious. Click through to check out the city’s newest and greatest vegan restaurants and cafés.

Perhaps the most Instagram worthy of the new kids on the block, by CHLOE. is hip, cool, bright, and airy, complete with hanging wicker swings. How fun is that!? With locations in the West Village, Flatiron, Soho, and Williamsburg (Rock Center and South Street Seaport coming soon), you can see why they’ve expanded at such a rapid rate over the past 2 years. You’ll love the quinoa taco salad and whiskey bbq sandwich; kids will love the pesto pasta, avocado toast and the burger with sweet potato fries. Parent-approved bonus points for the extra veggie kick in their beet-filled ketchup.

Good to know: It gets very crowded at lunchtime, so plan to wait for a table and definitely leave the stroller outside. The good news, they have coloring paper and crayons to keep little ones occupied.
