Summer is coming to a close, but there are still lots of fun things to do this Labor Day weekend. If you never made it to the must-see LEGO Safari at the Bronx Zoo, this is your last chance to fit it in before the exhibit closes. You can catch a very unique boat race or even more unique, hundreds of unicyclists taking to the streets! Fit in one last BBQ where amazing chefs will do wonders with pigs. Or get kids pumped up for back to school with a Friday morning jam or a Monday party featuring free school supplies for all attendees.

Back to School Jam
The first day of school is almost here, but first take your tot to a party at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Pig Island is taking over Governors Island where you’ll find 25 of the best chefs in the city going hog wild with local pigs. You’ll see cooking demos, taste wine, beer and food (of course). Plus, a variety of bands will keep you entertained all day with live music. While tickets are pricey, they include food and beer – non-alcoholic beverages for the kiddos will be sold as well. Sat., 11:30 am – 4:30 pm. Governors Island. $85.00 per person. All ages. Event details.
NYC Unicycle Festival
There’s something about seeing folks ride a bike with one wheel that’s so much more charming than 2-wheelers. This weekend marks the NYC Unicycle Festival and 3 glorious days of one wheel madness. Last year more than 300 unicyclers took to the city. The main event is on Governors Island where you’ll find races, exhibitions, unicycle basketball, the chance to try unicycling yourself and more. Sat. & Sun., 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Governors Island. Free. All ages. Event details.
