From kid-friendly concerts to science fun we’ve got you covered with a great lineup of events this weekend. Your kids can get in on some science action with hands-on activities at the Science on the River fair, and those who love art can stop by the Children’s Museum of Art Pop Up space there. The New York Aquarium also has a fishy exploration hour just for the toddler set. In the mood for BBQ, but don’t have your own grill? Have an outdoor summer meal at Cook Out NYC on Governors Island. As for music, Sunday brings us two awesome concerts – one at Central Park’s SummerStage and one at Prospect Park’s Celebrate Brooklyn.
SummerStage Family Day
This special day features several fun performances from Justin Roberts & The Not Ready for Naptime Players, Illstyle & Peace Productions, New York Chinese Cultural Center and performers from the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus. Science on the River

CMA Pier Art Pop Up
The Children’s Museum of Manhattan will bring a dose of art to the science festival with an eco art installation sculpture project. It will be made up of found objects and natural materials. Cook Out NYC
Craving a backyard BBQ? Here’s one that you don’t have to cook or clean up! Cook Out NYC has been called the ultimate outdoor cooking and country fair event. It offers outdoor grilling by chefs, craft beers, burger and hotdog cookoffs, music and much more. Sat & Sun., 11:30 am. Governors Island. $40 for adults, children under 12 free. All ages. Celebrate Brooklyn Family Concert
Today, Celebrate Brooklyn goes family style with an Ezra Jack Keats family concert featuring smooth acappella tunes from Sweet Honey in the Rock, which honors the legendary children’s book author of The Snowy Day. Sun., 4:00 pm. Park Slope. $3 suggested donation. All ages. Event details.
Tidal Tykes: Fishy Times
Learn about the diversity of fish at the New York Aquarium. In this 1-hour session you’ll touch cool artifacts like scales, jaws and fins. Your child will also make a cool project to take home. And of course, you won’t go home without visiting some of the aquariums amazing fish. Two sessions are available at 10:00 am and 11:30 am. Sat., 10:00 am & 11:30 am. Coney Island. $21 per person.
