It’s Labor Day weekend, but the last thing we want you to do is work too hard, so we’ve got a full weekend of fun for you and the fam. Go for a ride at a county fair right here in the city, hop on spectator boat and race down the river cheering on competing tugboats or cruise over to Governor’s Island for a one wheeled extravaganza at the Unicycle Festival. West Side County Fair
Enjoy a county fair without ever leaving the city. Hop on some carnival rides, play games, dance to live music, and play with some furry friends (you can adopt a new family member if you want!). And of course indulge in some delicious fair food, all while enjoying the view overlooking the Hudson River. Sun. Event details


Star Trek: Mission New York
Bring your little trekkies to the ultimate destination for Star Trek fans. For one weekend only, the convention center will be filled with interactive exhibits, exclusive merchandise, celebrity guests, panels, screenings and more. And don’t forget to dress the part! POSTPONED: 24th Annual Tugboat Race & Competition
Be right in the action on the Circle Line Spectator Boat at the annual Great North River Tugboat Race & Competition. You’ll cruise with the Parade of Tugboats up the river to the starting line and then race alongside the tugs back to Pier 84  where you can watch the tugboats in the nose-to-nose pushing and line-toss contents. When you leave the spectator boat your fam can head over to the pier where you can test your skills in the amateur line-toss competition or try your luck at in the ever-popular spinach-eating contest. Sun. Let’s Build a Skyscraper!
Learn about different materials architects use to construct buildings! After a gallery tour of models of some of the world’s tallest buildings, your little architects will join in a hands-on exploration, using stacking blocks to construct the sturdiest tower and recreate famous New York skyscrapers! March in the Kiddie Carnival
The annual junior carnival for West Indian American Day winds through the heart of Crown Heights and ends at the Brooklyn Museum. Assemble at 8 a.m. at Kingston Ave. and St. Johns. Join the fun or just go out to watch and check out the spectacular costumes. Sat. Event details.

Fan Appreciation Day with the BK Cyclones
Take your little all-stars to root root root for the home team at fan appreciation night! Make sure to get there early for some pre game catch and hang out after the game to run the bases like the pros and check out the fireworks display. Sun. Event details


Little Makers: Stomp Rockets
3 … 2 … 1 … Blast off! Explore different parts of a rocket as your little ones build and launch their very own high-flying rocket that is out of this world. Sometimes creativity can get messy, so dress your little maker (and yourself) in old clothing that can be splattered with things like paint, ink and oobleck. Sun. Richmond County Fair
Visit a good ‘ol county fair right here in NYC. You’ll find a photo booth, rock climbing wall, zip line, food court and even a beer garden. Plus, there will be plenty of rides, exhibits and face painting for the little ones. Sat.-Mon. Event details

Governor’s Island

Get Your Roll On at the Unicycle Festival
This weekend marks the NYC Unicycle Festival and 4 glorious days of one wheel madness. The main event is on Governors Island, Saturday and Sunday, where you’ll find races, exhibitions, unicycle basketball, the chance to try unicycling yourself and more. Thursday is One Wheel the West Side, where hundreds of unicyclers will ride from Battery Park all the way up to Central Park. Then on Friday, it’s Brooklyn Unicycle Day. This time, watch the one-wheel wonders roll from the Brooklyn Bridge all the way to Coney Island. Thurs.-Sun. Event details
