The summertime, outdoor concert season may now be just a distant speck in the rearview mirror but that doesn’t mean the good times have to stop rolling for you and your kids. There are still great bands playing all over the L.A. area, and here are four of the best on the books for November – including two freebies!

Asheba

Asheba’s authentic Caribbean music will send you and your kids all the way the islands without any jet lag, as your family grooves to his calypso sounds and soaks up the mellow vibe in one of the coolest places to see an all-ages matinee concert on the West Coast.

Recess Monkey

Where: Segerstrom Center for the Arts, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa, Ca

You’ve seen these handsome Seattleites in People Magazine (two summer’s in a row!) and you hear them on Sirius XM Kids Place Live all the time, now catch the pop-rock trio perform hits from their outstanding new disc In Tents, like the Beastie Boys-inspired rap “Dancing Bear,” along with Recess Monkey classics “Marshmallow Farm” and “Flapjacks,” live and in person in Orange County.

David Tobocman

Cost: FREE

Where: The Cow’s End, 34 Washington Blvd., Marina Del Ray, Ca

Tobocman, a Tin Pan Alley-quality songwriter for kids, will lead a free song-along for your tiniest music lovers. Expect some Woody Guthrie tunes along with other favorites from your own childhood, and hopefully at least one Tobocman original– like “Home”, one of the prettiest songs and music videos (see below) from the current Golden Age of Family Music.

Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band

When: November 25 at 11:00am

Cost: FREE (but please bring a can of food or a toy for a tot)

Where: Dragonfly Dulou, 2066 Hillhurst Avenue, Los Feliz, Ca

This stylish-in-an-old-Hollywood-way husband & wife band are every bit as adorable in person as they are on CD. Their pop songs are awash in sunshine and smiles, and are guaranteed to have your kids dancing up and down the aisles of this trendy Los Feliz children’s boutique. Expect to hear songs from their most recent album A Potluck, as well as some hits from their debut EP – like “Blue Bear” (videobelow.)
