For most of us, learning to swim was a childhood rite of passage, one that we want for our own children, too. Even though we’re surrounded by water, no one’s dipping into the Hudson or East River (for good reason.) Fortunately, it’s easier than you may think to find the perfect swim lessons for your kids, no matter what their age or level. Here are seven of our favorites to get your family water — and warm weather — ready!

For a Cool Pool & Community: JCC

JCC is a bit of an urban oasis. The gorgeous 14-story complex is equipped with an amazing pool of varying depths that's heated and clean as a whistle. The goal of JCC's aquatic program is to create confident, safe, strong swimmers, which it does with an extensive range of skill-tiered group classes for children ages 4 through 14, as well as special needs group swim classes and private lessons for those who need a more one-on-one approach. JCC is known for creating a feeling of community, so perhaps it’s no surprise that its swim lessons take place over six-month semesters, which allows swimmers to really get to know, not only their teacher, but their fellow swim students.
