Even if you missed the Mermaid Parade (it was June 17, and a pretty soggy affair), there’s still plenty of reasons to head to seaside fun spot Coney Island. In addition to the Cyclone celebrating a landmark birthday (90!) with a free boffo block party, you’ll also find new rides, new eats, new art — and all the old sun and sand favorites, too. Click through to see what’s happening on, and along, the boardwalk!

For the New Hot Dog on the Block

Let the dog wars begin — again! Nathan's has got some (returning) competition, in the form of Feltman's, considered by some to be the city's best frankfurter. Named for the inventor of the hot dog, the business dates to 1867, and has set up shop in its old location again after 50 years, thanks to Coney expert Michael Quinn. The eatery  will feature German immigrant Feltman's original recipe. The shop's slogan?: "The original hot dog." Them's fighting words!
